    I have the Watch 4 classic LTE, and I believe it does use more battery, but yes you can turn it off. The benefits of LTE is in emergencies, if you lose your phone in an accident, drowning in water, car or bike accident, stolen and so on. The LTE watch can still call for help, find your lost phone and help guide you back (if lost) using Google maps and/or assistant.

      @TaeNy35v Because it's a wearable, it's much less likely to lose, because it's tied to your body, and thieves (sometimes) don't care about watches, so a smart watch with (LTE ) can be a life saver.

    I ordered the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic 47mm LTE version for €296 euros (€499 RRP) brand new on sale which happened to be the same price as the non LTE version so I thought why not.
    I was worried afterwards about battery life but it's nice to know that I can turn it off when not needed. You can also put the watch on Airplane mode to save extra battery.
    LTE is good. Id rather have it & not need it than need it but not have it.
    So I'm really happy about the purchase. Think I got very lucky since the next day it was up by 125 euros again.

      I got an offer to buy the Watch 6 Bluetooth for $50 or LTE for $70. I've been thinking about trying LTE for a month or two but I want to know if there are any software differences between the two that would affect my usage of the lte watch without a rate plan. I read somewhere that if you turn off mobile data/lte the watch will still look for cell signal for emergency calling purposes. Can anyone confirm this?

    I've preordered a 6 Classic LTE and am hoping Samsung addressed the known overheating problem in calls lasting more than a few minutes. Apparently if the signal is weak the watch overheats , drops the call and goes into extreme battery saver mode. Very disappointed, from the Watch 6, it's only marketing, the processor is not new, it's the W 920 inflated by 10% engraved in 5 nm .... Why not to have put a Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 which is better and engraved in 4 nm?? The rotating crown returns to the classic Watch 6, but it was already on the classic Watch 4. The software side being only a normal evolution of 2023 which will be taken up on the Watch 5 and 4 in a few months. Virtually no change in battery capacity. Increasing the brightness will reduce the low power gain to zero. We are talking about watches at 450€ - 500€ which to have all their functionalities must be paired with a Samsung smartphone and some functions of which do not work in certain countries, see also the blood pressure measurement which must be calibrated every month by a real blood pressure monitor. Really disappointed, can't wait for the Watch 7 in February 2024.......

    BUT if the phone dies, then you cannot make calls on your LTE watch. This is what happened to me with the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic LTE. The reason is that if I chose the same number for the watch as the phone, then the watch needs to connect to the phone first. The phone can be left at home and the watch will connect using LTE or wifi. If you chose another phone number for the watch, then the phone can die and still you will be able to use your watch to make calls. This is what T-Mobile explained to me.

    • @JoeGillian0
      @JoeGillian0 Рік тому

      Hi, i dont think that IS correct. I think having same number allows your phone to be synchronized to have same messages on watch and phone but you are still able to call from the watch even if your phone is switched off...

Again, if the watch is used with its different number, then the watch can be used even if there is no charge on the phone. But, in the case of the same number, the watch makes a connection with the phone first. Again, I had the LTE watch and I have experienced the issue I am mentioning. It is not a theory.

    • @leaddog007007
      @leaddog007007 Рік тому +9

      @@JoeGillian0 Let me try to explain the problem I had in a different way... When I got my LTE watch and I signed up with T-Mobile, T-Mobile gave me a separate phone number for the watch that was different than the phone. In this situation, I did not need my phone to be working, to make calls using the watch. But others who got my call would be seeing a different phone number than my usual one. It would be as if I had 2 phones (one being an actual phone and the other being the watch). I told T-Mobile that having 2 numbers would be confusing. So could I have the watch be assigned the same number as my phone. T-Mobile said yes. Then I started using the watch. If someone rang my main number, I could answer the call using the phone or my watch (even when the phone was not close to the watch). One day, the battery on my phone went to 0. Therefore there was no charge on the phone. I thought "no problem... I will take my watch to work and use the watch for receiving and sending calls. There would be no need for the phone. Well, I kept my discharged phone at home and went to work. At work I realized that I just could not use the watch to either make calls or receive calls. I became frustrated and called up T-Mobile and asked them what the heck was going on. I had an LTE watch but could not get or make calls. They told me that as I had the same number on the watch as my phone, my watch had to first communicate with my phone before dialing our or receiving a call. The number actually belonged to the phone. My watch was simply piggy backing on it. When I reached home, I charged up the phone so that it had a non 0 battery. Then went away and could now make calls and receive calls with the watch. Had I used the new phone number assigned to my watch, there would not be a link between the watch and the phone and the watch could have been used even if an elephant had crushed my phone.
      I hope this lengthy explanation helps. This problem might not exist with another carrier. But I see the logic of it.

      @@leaddog007007 Thank you for that thorough explanation. I believe you dont worry and i also think that could be carrier dependant That's why i asked the question on a French forum and iI live in Europe we have lot of carriers and the one i am in does not support esim for watches or at least same number...
      However i go confirmation from the forum that the Phone can be dead and you are still able to use the Watch on its own to make calls.
      I still dohave a Gear S or Gear Solo in a drawer which has a physical paired with a Galaxy Note 3... So some of the issues you faced i am familliar with.
      I had 2 différent sim (professional and personal with different phone numbers since i Did not want to pay for extra service of having a duplicate personal one for my Watch but i could set my phone to automaticall transfer call, messages to my Watch in Samsung settings but phone had to be on... And if replied from my Gear S i believe my 2nd number would appear which was confusing for people...
      I also many rimes wanted to buy the LTE version of newer Galaxy watches but never wanted to pay another subscription especially since it does not support roaming and i have a limited use for it. '' '
