Cool Video, wondering how much power in this car is Making Over stock , would be neat to see the V4 with some Turbos or just one would be fine , thank You for sharing 👍🏼🚀🏁.also yes you can hear the side drafts up at the higher levels of rpm didn’t hear any valve float but maybe once before he went into the ditch .
To the guys that 'built' a model-96 onto a Miata, um,,, I ask You to consider just WHAT this SAAB is doing Here, on Gravel roads (Gee, NOT Even Mud/Slush/Snow!, yet) in terms of 'Power Drift'... See, Saabs, up-until GM took=over, had EQUAL front-drive Shafts, which means this, to You; No Honda-Torque-Steer! Get That? [ Now, on the "96' 92, 93 ,95, 97, 98, and post 89 900's, Rear Wheel Handbrakes were the Norm ] So, PULL the E-Brake, and "oversteer" exists, AS YOU GUN THE THROTTLE, and FRONT-DRIVE takes Over (without torque-steer!) to PULL you Thru a Corner quick quickly! It is far more Effective than Rear-Drive & hanging your ass-out on the Throttle. Couple THAT ability with a Deep-WishBone Front Suspension, weight-Bias up-front for Traction, and, 6" of Snow is YOUR PLAYGROUND (or, 24" of fresh Fluffy Snow for my ol' model 99's, best 'Snow Car' Ever!; Kick's Subby's into the snowbanks), nevermind what occurs in Slush or Mud, where you can Feel the Understeer build, lettiing you GUIDE it in Slop! Oh, and for those twits that Thought a Miata was a better 'lightweight' model 96, i note this! And THIS, will handle a Foot of Snow, 6" of Mud, 8" of Slush, any Wet Road, with relative Ease! www.saabplanet.com/fast-freddy-racing-saab-sonett-ii-v4 Congrats, you made Fools of yourselves without ever UNDERSTANDING WHY! I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a trick to log back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the account password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
@Nikolai Archie Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Underbart. Vilken sång i den rovan. Lät verkligen som att den varvade ur mer än många av de andra v4:orna man hört genom åren. En ren njutning för öga och öra.
Absolutely shocking to see how that tiny old box moves through the bends...grew up in a SAAB family but never had one myself...now I understand why they'd be successful rally cars!
Ja , min V4 varvade 7000 på 4:an 196 Kmh enligt utväxling , korsinsug , webrar 45:or halsringar var 40 mm tror jag , 1815 cc , toppar med stora ventiler , kammen kom jag inte i håg , kul var det i alla fall
This is one little bad ass Saab!! Prior owner of Saab 93,96 Monte Carlo and an early 99. Converted the Monte Carlo to rallying with the V-4 for additional torque. Where in the world did the manifold come from for the two Webers?? DCOE's I assume??
That, was a common intake in the rally world, usually with 2x45DCOE's but there was other carbs too. I had a more uncommon intake with 2 standing Webers, that intake was made by Tunaverken for Saab Sonett
@@someoneelse7629 The double upright intake was made by the ssr department for the engine that Stig Blomqvist drove in 1971. The Group A engine was bored to 91mm and with 1700 cranks, which then became 1740cc. Hard valve springs with aluminum washers lightened lifters, 7.6 cam, lightened flywheel, so it developed approx. 135-140 hp and 1740cc. In small group A the original crank was kept, but with 91mm bore and the things mentioned above it was 1540cc and about 120 hp
Reminds me of when growing up! - My dad had the only garage/workshop in the region, and I started with a VW-bus w/split windscreen & 1200cc standard engine, _then_ came the '67 Monte Carlo 3-cyl 3-solex carb's & the beautiful wooden steering wheel, after that, the 96 V4! Best cars I've driven on the same kind of winding, narrow gravel roads summer or winter, they were unbeatable!!! 💓😉👍

Saab family here !
Ett av de vackraste ljuden jag känner till är just V4:an. Wow!

@@larszenthio1012do you have any idea of the displacement of the car in this video?
@@BEasay If you mean the final position in the rally? Unfortunately, SAAB 96 V4 # 98 got retired on ss 17 for unknown reasons.
@@larszenthio1012 thanks for getting back to me. I meant, is it 1500, 1700, 1800 engine?
