This gave me hope to use my iPhone again, the "Keep Original" options is what fixed it for me, currently the easiest way for windows users to import is to use the Windows 10 "Photos" app and import from device. This would usually always fail, but when I changed from Automatic to Keep Original, all of my imports, large or small, went flawlessly thank you so much for making this video
This was great and to the point. I do have a couple questions. Please excuse me if they have already been answered, I am a NOOB here. 1. Once the transfer is done from iphoto to mac, if I were to delete them from the iphone, I should still be able to access those photos from my mac, right since they are not part of icloud storage? 2. Actually a legend. This method also helped me isolate corrupted video files that were the REAL reason holding up my import. After I found these 2 I could import normally on photos.

Apple is easy to use they said ... it's very intuitive they said ... I recorded some training clips and had 4k on and iCloud completely freezes with 4K Videos and doesn't do anything, so I have to watch tutorials by some Indian dudes who explain this stuff ... because it's so intuitive and simply easy to use 🤓 (after trying anything it's still stuck in sync mode and nothing happens)

once I have transferred all of my photos and videos into my Mac, am I able to delete all of photos and videos in my iPhone? and if I do that, can I keep the photos and videos in my Mac only so that I can save up storage in my iPhone.
If I delete my video off my phone I dont want it to delete off my Mac. Or the other way round.. I dont want to delete a video off my computer and it also deletes off my phone. How do I stop this from happening.

Awesome thanks, I have a quick question, My iPhone was stolen last week and right before I made a Back up through iTunes but had it stored to an external hard drive, My new iPhone has half the space the old one did and I already have it set up but would like to know if it is possible to some get the photos at least from that older stored data base with out having to restore my new iPhone from the older data base? I followed instructions but couldn't find what you recommended, so the woman I am dating went to Finder and typed Image capture. I opened Image Capture. I then created a folder on my Mac, opened the folder, and went back to the images shown on my iPhone. I went to edit, clicked select all, and then dragged and dropped all into the folder on my desktop.

I didn't even know my mac had something called image capture. I thought it was a third-party app, and almost about to give up your video. then I search for the app out of my curiosity and then BOMM! it's right there. Now I am transferring my 200GB worthy photos and videos from my iPhone to directly an external Hard disk since my Mac has also run out of storage :p Thanks, man!
Thank you! That worked perfectly. Photos sucks so bad it wouldn't even import my videos. It would start and then fail or just stop completely and tell me my iPhone was locked and I needed to unlock it when it was clearly not.
Wow! Thanks man. I haven't physically downloaded photos to my mac with a cable since before Apple quit using iTunes for this. I spent ages trying to download all my images saved to the iCloud (over 30000), but as I have an older Mac, the Photos app won't sync with iCloud. The alternative was to log on to iCloud over the web and try and download though that...only 1000 photos at a time though. EVEN THEN...nothing at all would download at all. I hadn't known this new method to download photos with a cable until I came across your video. Life saver!!

I might be screwed. I followed your directions and transferred my HEIC files to my MacBook Air BUT my laptop is so old that it doesn't recognize HEIC files! And converters won't install because my OS is too old! Best suggestion for dealing with this?

Thanks for the tutorial! I have never used Image Capture to transfer photos from devices previously. Just curious, why not use the built-in Apple Photos app? Also, what's the best way to keep the photos on my iPhone synced with my Mac? I can import from my iPhone, but doesn't seem like I can push from the Mac. Using the Finder > Device > Sync works, but then it shows up on my iPhone as "From my Mac" - not a native iPhone folder.

it worked!! if the phone doesn't appear, just disconnect and reconnect and click allow access on your phone.

I hope you don't mind if I ask you a question; if my photographs are backed up on iCloud and then I delete the photos from my iPhone, will they disappear from iCloud? Is iCloud storage or mirrored backup (if you get my meaning)? Thanks.
But how do I organise them by date created, type of file an iso on because I need to access some videos easily in order to use them for social media videos that I edit?

Thanks for the tutorial! I have never used Image Capture to transfer photos from devices previously. Just curious, why not use the built-in Apple Photos app? Also, what's the best way to keep the photos on my iPhone synced with my Mac? I can import from my iPhone, but doesn't seem like I can push from the Mac. Using the Finder > Device > Sync works, but then it shows up on my iPhone as "From my Mac" - not a native iPhone folder.

Hi, did you mention how to keep all the photos in sequential order ? If so, I missed that, every time I transfer a bunch that I’ve sorted, they get all mixed up, makes it sooo much more work. Thanks
