@@ForAllLifesAdventures you asked me to provide non-flimsy evidence about the situation in xinjiang. I was in Xinjiang for 14 days in March this year and I made a round trip by van for a total of 4,000km in Northern Xinjiang starting from Urumqi to the Altai Mountain area, Turpan, Karamay, Sayram lake and more. I enjoyed the trip very much and I cannot find any concentration camp or mass graves of genocide victims. Rather I encountered a lot of very friendly and warm people in Xinjiang. God damn all the western media for their lies. Especially BBC and ASPI the lackey of U.S.A.

Welcome to Xinjiang! I might say some things not so nice towards the West. If anyone minds, please do not continue reading. I am a Chinese studying in the West, and there's a lot of truth in the saying that one should see things in person. From a young age, we were taught that Western countries are economically developed and technologically advanced, so it's natural to assume that their lives are much better than ours in China. However, experiencing it firsthand, I saw how homelessness, drugs, and immigration issues severely damage social justice and order in the West. The foundations of society such as safety, order, and fairness are not ensured, the government operates inefficiently. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, my perceptions of developed countries would have been hard to change, too.

In 1981 Xinjiang was one of the poorest regions of one of the poorest countries in the world with a GDP/capita of 450rmb (about $200US in 1981$), 50yrs later, Xinjiang's GDP per capita was $68,600rmb (about US$9,500).
Contrast that with Xinjiang's next-door neighbor, Afghanistan. In 1981, the US CIA was already pumping $millions of dollars & weapons to the Mujahideen forces in Afghanistan, a country with a GDP/capita then of US$312. 50yrs later in 2021, when US forces finally fully withdrew from Afghanistan, their GDP/capita was only US$356.

lovely thoughts and perspectives. if we have more people like you, open minded and curious about the world, more people wouldn't be scared into conflict. I can't speak for your country but I can tell you from what I can see here in the us, corporations have hijacked american democracy and policy is pushed for their benefit. just recently, 95 billion was approved to fund the continued 'war for peace and justice' in various parts of the world. if you been to downtown areas in pretty much any major city in the usa, that kind of money would go a long way domestically. the sad part is we have no say because both parties are owned by interest groups so there is no lesser evil choice.

Xinjiang is almost 3 times the size of Ukraine.
It's massive. The area is varied with many cultures sharing this cross roads
And it has historically been connected with China since Han times before Christ.
Most western critics see the nation state as ethnocentric where bc of its size and despite its Han majority, China sees itself as multiethnic emphasizing a shared historical relation rather than as an ethnocentric state
This is exemplified in clear language representation of minorities as in Xinjiang.
Contrast say a similar size country like the US where everything is in English. Spanish is not even taught as a second language despite the obvious size of the population, never mind representation of the original natives.
UK people should understand this. Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales in theory (according to West propaganda) should have a cause for independence.
The double standards of US narrative is for the mentally ill...complaining about a mythical Xinjiang Gnocide whilst abetting Gaza. Sick.

If anyone remembers the old ASPI report, just go look at the map they used for Xinjiang (and the rest of the world lol). It's all colored in drab brown or dull olive, ostensibly to give that gloomy oppressive atmosphere. Go on google map and voila, you have snow capped mountains, green valleys and the various shades of agricultural plots. But it's all brown on ASPI's map.
And they will want you to believe that China builds detention camps, in full view of towering condominiums, and next to massive private villas owned by Urumqi citizens. Oh and the detention camp is filled with cars. Does no one play simcity anymore?
p/s: They still have a link to the so called Xinjiang Police Files, you know the one that claims Chow Yun Fatt and Andy Lau were Xinjiang police in cahoots. (They are megastars in the Chinese music and movie industry)

Urumqi is not really reflective of most of Xinjiang or Uighur because it geographically is abit "wetter" than most of the region and allow a more urbanised society. check out the basin to see "older" Xinjiang indeed.
Turk nationalism is originally promote by Russia during the great game to try and annex chinese territory, then when PRC was founded, Russia ended support for it. it was however pick up by Turkey as they still dream of pan Turk nationalism, and obviously this raise alarm in alot of countries because there is alot of states between China and Turkey, so everyone is like asking what up with that, is Turkey going to go mongol on central asia? it is only a recent thing that English media repurpose those old propaganda to create a narrative.
the issue is of course more complex. what should be noted is the old nationalist movement occur only in a very small part of Xinjiang, they do not dispute the whole of Xinjiang because Xinjiang is a chinese concept and alot of Xinjiang is not Turk majority, they are going interested in their own area. so it is very easy to spot people who don't understand the turk nationalism, if they just use the Xinjiang map it means they don't understand nor care about that the issue really is, they are "fake crusaders" who are clueless. personally i don't think it even worth the time to entertain them seriously if they don't understand what the actual disputed region is.
why English media has a sudden interest I feel is because of the failure of Afghanistan, failing to flip Afghanistan over to NATO means Central Asia is now open to China, so they are trying to create hate between the muslim and chinese to prevent cooperation. but while their propaganda may work at home, it is rejected by most muslim states, it is unlikely that the english media have enough influence to torpedo the new silk road. its just too obivious what they say is not true.

Politics is extremely complex and sometimes its difficult to really reach a simple verdict of who is right or who is wrong. From my non partisan Asian point of view, if you compared Urumqi, Kashgar and a few other cities like Hotan to what it was in the 1960s , you will see a drastic change. The standard of living has been dramatically improved in terms of education, transport and hygiene. Has the region been forcefully Sinicized? Yes, I would think so but it was since the Qing dynasty & well before the CCP came to power. Even if ROC were in power today , the situation is still likely the same. Is it any worse than US occupation of Philippines? I don't think so. Xinjiang GDP is 244 billion USD (~26 million people) in 2022 vs Philippines 404 billion (115 million people). GDP/Capita Xinjiang 9385 vs Philippines 3513. There are still a lot of poor kids in Manilla running on roads selling stuff and plenty of mestizo adults fathered by runaway American GI fathers. With change comes difficulty, there will always be fundamentalists & traditionalists who want to hold on to their own tribal power at the expense of improving life for their own people. Do not mistake them as martyrs. How is leaving the native Americans living in poverty a good thing? As an Asian I truly believe in tough love, true statesmen improve the quality of their people and better their lives.

I guess they must have done a pretty good job, and they were awarded with governorship of Ningbo, an ancient city majority of Shanghainese originally came from.

Xinjiang, Xizang, Inner Mongolia, Guangxi and Ningxia are all "autonomous regions" rather than ordinary "provinces".
Ordinary people are more concerned about their quality of life than about grand historical power struggles.
After independence, the ruling class can gain greater power, but ordinary people may not necessarily live a happier and more prosperous life. If Xinjiang had developed independently from China since the second half of the last century, it would only be a large country like Kazakhstan or Mongolia today at most.
In history, China's borders were separated due to the decline of the central government, but not today.
It's ridiculous to compare Xinjiang with Palestine,

Actually Turkic tribes span from Xinjiang to modern Turkey. Modern day Turkish people look European due to migration, immigration and conquests. Turkish refers to the modern population of Turkey and Turkic refers to the tribal migration group. Original Turkic people looked like the people you see in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Central Asia, Xinjiang etc. The ancient Turkish population would have been apart of this migration group before looking more European. This is just in response to the comment about Spanish people leaving. It was the Turkish that left. But I love this video, thanks for visitinf Xinjiang.

In China, you don’t have the Freedom to criticize CCP. Other than that, you have a greater degree of Freedom to talk about anything openly without worry being cancelled. No activist will jump you if you prefer to hangout with your own color. You have the freedom to drink beer on the street, freedom to walk in the park after dusk, freedom to drive an e-scooter without license nor helmet, freedom to defend your property.

      You can criticize CCP, but
①not overtly. For example you can do that on Wechat(Whatsapp in china). But if you make a video and publish it on Bilibili(youtube in China), it may be deleted. (While mild/satirical criticism is ubiquitous)
②you are not supposed to be a public figure. If you are a celebrity (especially working for government or government-led institutions), you may get fired.
