As a young person I hated Spurs,Mavs would always run into a brickwall, but as you get older you start to appreciate all those memories, 2006 Spurs Mavs might be the best playoff series of all time. Dirk needed Spurs.
The one thing that says it all about Dirk is that you won't find fans of any other franchise that generally dislike him. He is beloved all over the league, all over the world.
My Spurs had a run like no other during the great career of Tim Duncan. Part of what made those years so special was seeing my guys stare down the other greats. And Dirk was on the short list of great opponents that made those victories sweeter. And because Dirk was such a nightmare, those years didn't always end in victory. 2006 was especially painful. Every time I reflect on those years, I remember those great battles fondly. And Dirk was as huge an obstacle as the Spurs ever faced. I got to root for Dirk and the Mavs in those 2011 Finals; I was so thrilled for him.

What a legend. I remember sitting on TV and watching this big man causing trouble to every defense. He’s one of the most complete offensive players the game ever seen
It's krazy seeing players you grow up on getting their jerseys retired. It's like it was yesterday was Killin ppl with Dirk on NBA Street/Live. Congrats, Well deserved, & THANK YOU👏🏾Mr. Nowitzki👏🏾
I love this. I grew up watching Magic and Kareem as a Lakers fan in SoCal, and Michael Jordan later, and then Kobe and Shaq, but from the time Dirk came into the league, you could see he was something special. He deserved EVERY BIT of this pomp and circumstance. The guy was one heck of a player. This was definitely deserved.
The version of Dirk we saw through the 2011 playoffs may be the best basketball player I have ever seen. Ran through the defending champ lakers round two, beat the up and coming thunder with KD and Russ and then beat the Miami heat who everyone for sure thought would beat the Mavericks. Dirk was just playing out of his mind during that stretch. If I remember correctly too I don’t think he missed a single free throw through that playoff run if he did he didn’t miss one til the finals.
He definitely reached a level few have during that run. He was automatic with that Dirk one foot fade away, and there was nothing any defense could do to stop him.
Dey beat da blazers in 6 Swept da lakers & stop their 3peat hopes Gentlemen swept da baby thunder dat went 2 da finals da next year And beat da heat in 6 all with retirement home players. Greatest championship run EVER. His 1 ring is worth more den KDs 2 rings

As a 29 year old Dallas kid, this dude meant the world to me growing up. Wore my 41 jersey all day that he signed in 2011 after a regular season game in Miami that ended their 13 game win streak. Framed it and put it away for good on my wall after the ceremony.
It's hard to think of a player more deserving than the big German, not only has he been a true class act but he truly helped revolutionize the NBA as being one of the first great big shooting man. Congrats Dirk 👏
Now these days almost every big man tries to shoot 3s and play like Dirk
@@l.r9655 dirk didn't just jack 3s, he actually was a 3 level scorer big man, meaning he shot lots of midrange, and post fadeaways, and post face ups, with a few hooks, big man just jacks 3s, with no post moves, no post fades, or no midranges

What a true legend and a humble man! How can you don't love and respect something like this? Forever 41!
There are only a handful of Dirks left now in the NBA... His loyalty, determination and love to the game is missed. Thank you Dirk, for everything! Be healthy and happy!!
Dirk .. I mean just saying his name . No explanation needed . One of the most influential, dominant, and loyal players to ever play professional basketball. Pleaseee take that 10 day offer 😭😭
I've been a Heat fan my whole life, and man we had some epic battles against Dirk and the Mavs. Nothing but love and respect to you Dirk, you are truly of the games greats. As a fan of the game in general, I'll never forget all the great moments you gave us fans. Thank you Dirk and congratulations on your big night.

As a spurs fan I can truly say we love dirk Nowitzki! Great seeing him compete against Tim Duncan throughout the years. Gave us a hard ass time too haha. Congrats dirk you deserve it. HOF next!
As a young person I hated Spurs,Mavs would always run into a brickwall, but as you get older you start to appreciate all those memories, 2006 Spurs Mavs might be the best playoff series of all time. Dirk needed Spurs.
I love them competing with each other. It's like a movie which you won't know the ending.
My sentiments exactly. I feel the same way about Duncan. We had some great battles with 2 great teams.
Duncan pushed Dirk to his limits
Bro as a mavs fan we hated playing yall. Those Duncan and Dirk match-ups were so stressful.
Legend, one of the greatest PF of all time. thanks for all the great memories 💙 41 forever 🐐🐐
Dirk’s one ring is more valuable than KD’s participation rings

Totally forgot Stojaković played for the 2011 championship team, cool to see him there! But what can one say about Dirk, true legend of basketball, glad I witnessed his entire career and watched every game of that insane 2011 championship run!
As a Laker fan, it was so easy to appreciate and respect Dirk all these years. How could you not? True embodiment of what it means to be great.
As a Mavs fan, Kobe was the same way brother.
He played the game at the highest level. There will never ever be another Dirk Nowitzki. Senegal, West Africa.

They beat the Blazers in round 1. Brandon Roy and LeMarcus Aldridge. It was the best playoffs run ever!
I remember when people said its gonna be 4-0 Miami
Memories
Dey beat da blazers in 6
Swept da lakers & stop their 3peat hopes
Gentlemen swept da baby thunder dat went 2 da finals da next year
And beat da heat in 6 all with retirement home players. Greatest championship run EVER. His 1 ring is worth more den KDs 2 rings
Our favorite player. Will never forget that season nor his career. Named our little chihuahua after him in 2005 and he passed a few months after Dirk retired. What a career!
