    That was the best jersey retirement ceremony I've ever seen. The Raptors organization should pat themselves on the back. They did it right. They not only made it all about 15. They made it big, bright and over the top. They spoke volumes of how much he meant to their organization. They also showed it with the effort they put into it to make it a special night.

You turned this hockey fan into a basketball only fan for life. THANK YOU Vince, for everything you've done for Toronto and the Raptors. When you left, it was the hardest breakup I've ever had in my life (don't tell my ex wife). Love you man. You deserve to finally get your flowers. As a 39yo raps fan from the beginning and born and raised in TO, it's hard to put into words what Vince did for our city, even beyond basketball. In a hockey town he became the biggest superstar (by far) the city had and he literally made the Raptors relevant in the US. He was must see TV every night and sold out away games too because of his talent and athleticism. Tonight was emotional man, all the memories growing up watching him and this team flooding back. Love to see this moment - such a big moment for Vince, the Raptors, and the city.

    The first time I ever saw basketball on tv, as a 9yo immigrant kid that has just moved to Toronto with his parents, and I just finished my swim team practice at crescent town club near vp station, and I walked into the tv room of the club and saw Vince playing on the big screen and instantly fell in love with the game, even though I didn't know who the players were or even rules of the game, but I saw half man half amazing flying to the rim and the excitement of other gym members that were also watching. Weeks later was our series vs AI and the 6ers I was watching, till when we drafted Bosh, till when vince did that nasty reverse dunk game winner vs us as a net, till DeRoze and the ''young guns'', till 2019 late that spring night driving around the city honking after we won, till now watching Scottie and visions of the future. Vince you sowed the seed and you'll always be the Raptor's GOAT.
    p.s. so awesome to see JYD at the ceremony, years ago I walked into a brand new store near yonge and college and didn't even know that was JYD's shop and he was there and signed the shirt for me. Thank you Jerome, I still got the shirt 😁

Yes we invented basketball, but VC is the one bring basketball dream to every household, every kid across Canada. You know when was the first Jurassic park? It wasn't outside ACC, it is every single Home Depot, Costco or future shops that sell TV. Family grocery shopping day? You will then see all the dad and sons gather around and watch it.
    We fell in love for basketball because this man plays. Electrifying, highlights, flairs. He is one of the root causes we as a country improved so much in basketball. Inspiration to fans, kids and eventually future players. Truly deserve jersey retirement. ❤

    That entrance man set the stage. I was hyped and it gave me all the chills. All those memories as a teenage kid watching Vince play. It felt like he was going to go out there one more time and give us another highlight. This is by far the best retirement ceremony. Had me in tears all night. I love you Vince. Your the reason i am a die hard basketball fan today. Your the reason i have this love for basketball. This is more than deserved 👏 ❤️ VC15 Forever.

    The Raptors should've signed him back in 2019. What a storybook ending it would've been for Vince to win a championship in Toronto. Regardless, the banner design is sick! Very well deserved for Vince! Half-man, Half-amazing forever!!!

      I think there were rumours of that around trade deadline. As much as I would have liked that, it might had been a distraction to the championship run

    • @Raptor1524
      @Raptor1524 11 годин тому

      @@Rodster129 I agree. I recall there being talk of the Hawks waiving him and us brining him on. I think they went for Jeremy Lin instead. I wish they would have brought VC back, but I too think it would have been a distraction and perhaps altered the outcome of that run.

    I was at your tribute game on Nov. 19th 2014. Never could come to a game as a teenager. Once I was able to buy a ticket, you were traded. You deserved the standing ovation that day and always. I was 15 years old when I started watching you. Thank you for the amazing memories you gave Toronto Raptors fans and the young people like me who grew up completely in love with you. So happy to see you get the love you deserve Vince Carter - love you from time. ❤️🇨🇦❤

Those who grew up around that era know exactly what I'm talking about. Difficult to explain otherwise... man, that 'CARTER 15' up there will forever immortalize the importance of what he meant for Canadian basketball.
