Minus their Spark software. Spark could have surpassed the competition if they put the same effort into it as their other software. I would love to see them revisit it and release a major update. But I agree, they take care of their customers. Out of my large selection of synths, I find Pigments to be one of the more inspiring options for sound design.
@@WildAnalog Yes! I only ever tried the Ipad version when it was basically free and all I could think while playing around with it was that it would probably make a killing on the desktop in a daw.
@@WildAnalog Yes, I agree! Spark is a great plugin and a new version would be very much appreciated! I use it these days to dus rip the sounds from. :D
@@DEADLINETV I have had software issues on my new laptop for the last few years. Like you, I've only been using the samples. After posting my message about Spark, I decided to try the software again, and what do you know? It worked! Arturia has grown so much as a company since Spark's release. I can't imagine what a Spark 3 would be like. One can dream, though.
For years I could care less about pigments. I was good with my V8 collection and micro freak and Serum. Jeez Laweez I was wrong! I’m so blown away. Money well spent. I can’t stop designing sounds. Pigments is the most powerful soft synth I have now! Great job again Arturia
Arturia is the best. This is a great update! Just the sample browser features alone is a HUGE improvement to my workflow. The new distortions are excellent. FX Collection might need a separate plugin version of that module ;) Thanks for the update! Cheers!
I'm working on a new tune at the moment which uses a synth bass sound that I created from scratch in Pigments. Upon installing the update I found that my preset sounds completely different. For anyone else having the same issue it seems to be that the Dry / Wet on the distortion is allot louder than it used to be. I had some automation on the Dry / Wet which was set to oscillate between 0 and 50. I'm now finding that it has to run between 0 and 12 in order for my preset to sound as it did before. I figure some of you might find this usefull. Cheers!
Correction... after looking into this in more detail the issue is actually that the Drive dial on the Distortion and Wave folder seems to have more effect than it used to. I was able to restore my preset by reducing the automation value on both Drive dials by 20. The difference in sound was quite extreme so I am posting this whilst envisaging other producers freaking out.
@@jkeller51 I'm guessing it must be difficult for them to account for so many different variables in a product like this. It stressed me out initially which is why I figured I would menton it.
@@saren6538 On the contrary, I have a lot of plugins I'm very happy with including some from Arturia. And as a whole, this is a nice update for Pigments. But if there was a 10 commandments for plugin developers, one of them would definitely be "thou shalt not break existing projects with updates". As a plugin developer myself, I'm very careful about this. If what Death Beats is saying is true, somebody at Arturia wasn't in this case, and that's unfortunate.
In such a short period of time Arturia made significant updates to Pigments. I can't even contemplate, if this was just a minor upgrade to 3.5, what will 4.0 look like? A built in concierge, or hotline to JMJ (or Charlie) for inspiration? Thank you Arturia for yet another great (and free) update.
Holy crap, you guys are crazy! Unbelievable sound banks. This is the best vst ever! I can't wait to master it and to see new updates! Thank you so much! 🙏🎶🖤
Really great Update, thanks Arturia! For future updates it would be really nice to have: - LP/HP Filter like in the Sample Engine, but for every Engine type and more control over it - in the Sample Engine being able to play multiple Sample at the same time, not just one after another - enhanced FX like the Distortion module, some different Reverb types, Eq with more filter types... and 5 FX slots for each bus
Bought the monster a while ago. Can't keep up with the features. First time I find myself never getting bored. This is the best software synth ever made sound-and-ui-wise. Get yerself the keystep and it's the only thing you'll need in a tune, damn it!
Cross engine modulation sounds amazing. Like wavetable FM. I need to set myself a week just to play with this thing. So glad I bought it. It’s very different to serum. Really love the presets, truly works of art
Pigments has been my go-to synth for some time now and I've mainly been using it for Drum & Bass and Synthwave. The only other synth that comes close to Pigments is the original version of Massive in my opinion which I still use along side Pigments. I don't suppose there is any chance that you guys can post the preset that Charlie is playing at 2:10 into the video, that sound is insane? Cheers!
P.S - The cross-mod feature is a huge addition, especially since it can work across all three engine types. The Roland System-1 has a cross-mod which enables it to make some insane sounds. That being said it seems to be mostly overlooked by System-1 users for some reason.
Happy with this update. Pigments was pretty boring compared to Massive X before. Very vanilla and sounds were old. Great stuff with the FX and distortion. The blending engines is awesome.
I absolutely love Massive X but good lord is that UI so outdated. Compared to other premium flagship synths the lack of visualizations is incredibly annoying. Other than that I really do enjoy the sounds you can get from it.
I'm using mine through my Splice account and have been enjoying 3.5. I'd like to see some adjustments to the amount of CPU it uses as it can be a bit off a hog. Other than that it's a great synth...
Wow... can we get an LFO editor? Also, the ability to modulate parameters with the sequencer/arp would be amazing as well. This thing is looking and sounding solid. Very impressed.
So i doodle Pigments after the update (I'm a new user and completely noob tbh), using the distortion. Andddd i got something sounds like a motorcycle engine. Save it, realized if I can make new category. Done. Watching this video. What? It all the new features. Awesome lol.
Are the previous version's presets gonna be here?? When I updated my arturia v collection, the previous version's presets were gone from stage 73 and some others. My fav😭
What a trip it would be if Arturia put that sample egine in the SQ80V. The original Ensoniq was a sample playback device with the samples mostly being singl-cycle wav files
I hope at someday Arturia developers find out that apart from arrays there are also data structures called "linked lists" and they let us add as many engine instances as we like or our computer can handle.
