I can’t believe how hard it was to find a video like this without all the advanced confusing stuff! I just wanted to make sure I was doing the basic steps right, Thank you!
“This video is tailored to new gardeners ✅ folks walking through Home Depot and spotting tomatoes ✅ you don’t have a garden ✅ don’t have a lot of experience gardening ✅ maybe you have no space, you live in an apartment ✅ you have a balcony ✅ and want to grow some tomatoes in a container ✅ “. I think this man is looking into my soul, this is exactly my situation!! 🤯
I hope they can grow on my large sun porch which gets plenty of sun from noon until 5 or 6 p.m. we have animals that eat everything so I can't put them outdoors..

New Sub here. My wife reminded me of the time I waited all season just to watch a squirrel run off with my only tomato ......i chased it .....cursing like a sailor. We both laugh now.....her more than me. You have a gift of teaching & I'm looking forward to being successful next time with your help!
I did a "topsy turvy" growing system a few years ago. I ended up with exactly ONE tomato, large enough for a BLT after a $60 investment. You can bet I enjoyed that sandwich.
That is hilarious! My first year i had one bowl of beans one tiny tomatoe and lots of rasberries. ...i still have rasberries and now i have lovely crops of nettles everywhere too lol! Gonna try again in a container.
I am so glad I found you! Most folks are planting "way" over my dumb head!!! I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I know more about the habits of roaches and rats, than I do planting anything!!! You really speak to the beginner! I really appreciate that! I will be following YOU....ALWAYS!!! Thanks for helping to make me a "junior" gardener!!!!
Watched you all day. Love your Q&A VIDEOS!!! Thank you for responding to my comment. Have a great growing week. I am doing better than I thought I would. Lol
I agree about the bucket size! When I transplanted a tomato plant I started from seed last year, I put it into a 5 Gallon bucket and i kept it alive. But it didn’t thrive in there. I ended up transferring to the ground. And it did great!
I've grown tomatoes for several years in the ground very unsuccesfully, I finally figured out that the space I had wasn't getting nearly enough sun. So I decided to grow this year in pots. This video was super informative and makes me feel like I can do this no problem! Thanks so much!!!
Thank you so much. Now I know why my tomatoes in containers gave me no fruit, last year. I planted large variety in 5,gallon buckets, and used raised bed soil instead of potting mix. Thank you again. ✝️❤️🌍
Best video ever. I'm in Southern California and just getting into gardening. My backyard is all concrete and pavers so containers are my only choice (without tearing apart concrete). I started with plants on my patio (sago, date palms, succulents, ferns) but now want to venture out and grow vegetables. So thankful for youTube!! I'm now subscribed and ready to learn! :)
Thanks so much for this video! About a decade ago my neighbor inspired me to grow a little garden and he helped me ready my soil with his big tilling machine. I got really lucky and only planted 4 tomato plants (and a few other things) that went hog wild and produced tons of tomatoes from the very beginning of summer until frost, and I was giving tomatoes away to everyone. It was so easy that I was spoiled as I basically just watered and added some Miracle Grow and shazam...more gorgeous tomatoes than I knew what to do with! My neighbor and his machine have since moved away and I was thinking about doing some container tomatoes. I started watching some videos on the topic and this was the best, most informative, and most inspiring one I've found. I'm leaning towards using the smart pots or fabric pots and I'll be buying my plants as it's a bit late to be starting with seeds since I don't even have them yet. Now I'm going to check out your other videos as I'm also thinking of growing some bell peppers, zucchini, and cherry tomatoes!
You're really good at teaching and explaining things that are otherwise hard to understand. Thanks. Now I wanna learn everything from you. Subscribed !
This video is EXACTLY what I needed to watch to give my little tomato plants the best start. I'm a total newb....saw some Better Boy tomato plants at Aldi the other day...no experience growing them whatsoever...got a wild hair and wanted to give it a go. I've been trying to research and watch videos, and yours answered every single question I had (plus some I didn't even know to ask) about starting them. Went out to Home Depot this afternoon and bought everything you recommended, down to to the 20 gallon containers (except mine are red, hehe). THANK YOU! I'm excited to get started. Looking forward to more of your videos.
There are hundreds of UA-cam videos on growing tomatoes in containers, but yours is one of the best that I have seen. You cover a lot of important things that others just never mentioned. You specifically seem to address the "urban" gardener with limited real estate. There are other good ones, but none better than yours.. Thank You
I do mainly container gardening so far, and will continue to do so even though I have a big back yard. In my first year I got at least 200 early girl tomatoes off of 6 plants. I used wicking buckets and I really recommend them. It takes all the guess work out of watering. Fill the fill tube with water until it comes out the hole in the bottom bucket. Since your bottom watering it also reduces splashing on your plants. How to make them is all over youtube and all it takes is two 5 gallon buckets, a plastic cup, and a short piece of pvc pipe to make one.
The only experience in gardening that I have is with my Dad and he actually had a garden. To be honest I wasn’t paying very much attention 😞! Now I am in an apartment container growing and boy oh boy when I tell you these are by far the best videos and I frictions that I have come across. I feel as if he is talking strictly to me. Thank you so very much! You are a phenomenal teacher!
Thanks for the encouraging comment, yeah I figured I needed to go, and only planned to hit up my local feed store, but as you saw they didn't have good selections. :-(
About 5-gallon buckets - I recommend them *highly* for beginners simply because they're so easy/cheap to get (often free) and work with. Upfront cost is a huge factor keeping folks from getting started, and buying several large containers and many bags of soil to fill them adds up *fast* at the cash register. The trick with 5's is to put a water reservoir in them so they never dry out completely. Simply take a plastic bottle - a 2-liter soda bottle fits perfectly - and cut a few small slits near the top. Run a couple 18" pieces of nylon rope into the bottle to reach out into the soil and wick water for the roots if you want, but if you skip that part the roots will simply grow right into those slits to access the water. Bury that so the top of the container just sticks above the soil and keep the bottle full of plain water or weak nutrient solution (take your favorite soluble fertilizer and mix it 1/4 strength for steady use.) Try a couple, you will be pleased with the growth and production you get from such a small amount of soil. I've often found that the roots do very well in the soil and *also* fill up that reservoir. Healthy roots with steady access to water and nutrients gives you results almost like doing true hydroponics, at *far* less cost than most hydro set-ups or using 20 gallons of store-bought soil for every single plant. I've grown many varieties of heavy-feeding/high-water-need plants like tomatoes, peppers cukes, etc this way for years now and I get very worthwhile harvests every time.
I might give it a go. So many folks are telling me I should so perhaps I will. My buckets are getting real old, might be at the end of their life but I think one more season can be had.
@@ScottHead Just try one or two of them with plants you're already comfortable with. It just about takes longer to describe it than it does to set one up :) It's true though, even the good food grade buckets only last a few years out in the sun. Grab one by the rim and if you can easily break a piece off, it's gotten too brittle from the UV & heat, and needs to be replaced. But my source for once-used buckets (mainly they were originally filled with cherries) charges so little for them that two dollars each for 4-5 year's use is very much worth it to me.
Dystopia Gear - I'm not completely picturing how you do you 5-gallon bucket, 2-liter bottle setup. Any more info you could give to help me picture the setup ?
Love this channel! I know I am right 'down the street' from you and you have my same environment and available resources so your experience is 'invaluable' to me! Trying both 'determinate' and 'indeterminate' tomatoes this year, along with many other veggies in containers! Have a 'backyard' like you and have beds set out but am not ready to pour dirt in them before I ensure I can indeed grow! Using them to 'contain' my pots, I like that you address Apartment Dwellers, you know MOST people do live in apartments NOT homes! Appreciate your honesty, "Don't be trying to grow no SUN LOVING plants on a balcony that only gets 4 hrs of Sun at best, there are veggies for that, lol! Yeah, I know you didn't say it like that but it's the TRUTH! lol Brother you be blessed!
Thank you! Where were you when I started trying this 2 years ago. I learn something every year the hard way. You are such a natural teacher and I love your voice.
I've tried to pot garden in the past, and was not successful at it. But I was also not staying on top of it. I'm super excited about my tomato plant this year. I have been giving it appropriate love and attention and it is looking SO gorgeous!!!! I'm glad I watched this, or I would have over-watered it.
I know that this is a couple yrs old but I promised my mother tomatoes for Mother’s Day. Now that I watched this buddy I think I got it covered! Thank you
Great video! Wonderful teacher. I just planted my first tomato and other plants few weeks ago. Wish I’d seen this before I started. Lol! Great information to help my plants grow
Holy crap. Determinant or indeterminate. 🤦🏼♀️ I was today years old when I found out the plants had that determination. (See what I did there lmao) This would have saved us so much work over the years as we grew tomatoes. Those plants that grew into monsters and couldn’t be tamed. Now I know how to AVOID those!
Thank you very much Scott. This video helped a whole lot to show me how to grow dem maters in pots. I have grown a lot of tomatoes in the past when I had my farm in Tolar. I had record crops plowing in cow manure before planting the plants. Now I can do it on a small scale since I have moved to town. Keep up the good work.
I'm not a complete newbie, but it has been about 15 years since I grew my own tomatoes. Also I will be attempting to grow larger, heirloom varieties for the first time. Thanks for the tips, wish me luck! 🍅🤞
This is an excellent video. I dived into container tomatoes 2 summers ago. I only planted 4 plants (two each of a cherry tomato and a regular sized) I almost couldn't keep up with them. I just chalked it up to an experiment and well... had waaaay more tomatoes than I knew what to do with. lol Learning to water tomatoes was definitely a learning curve. I have full sun in my back yard so it was interesting to say the least. I have the side yard on the west side of my house and I have cement siding. I'm fully tempted to set up my pots up on that side. I think they would like the heat that the siding absorbs. I'm in the PNW, so our summers are not as consistently high heat as the midwest but it's not as wet in the summer as you'd think. I used a larger pot, it's the plastic version of a half a wine barrel. I had decent success. Learned a lot! I didn't grow any in 2020 but I think I'm ready for another challenge. Very informative video.
Finally rented a place with a little sun and a little space. Spending this summer starting a small garden. Began with a few tomato and pepper seeds and now watching your video on how to transplant them into containers for the rest of their journey. Love your videos! Hope your gardening season is off to a good start!
Thanks Scott! My parents are green thumbs and have always had beautiful gardens and I’m at the age where I want to try my hand at gardening as well. During the quarantine, I figured it’s the perfect time to try growing my own food and seeing if I inherited a green thumb myself. Super helpful video and thanks for taking us to the store with you as well!
Just a heads up...It's not always time to plant, just because the store has them in stock. I live in the foothills west of Denver, and our local Home Depot ALWAYS starts stocking the vegetables at least a month prior to our typical last frost date. Do your research for your areas last frost date, instead of relying on the supplier to prevent yourself some heart ache...
True and take it down one zone for perrennials.. I'm in melon country Rocky Ford we are listed as 5b.. NOT.. in winter it gets well below -20.. we hit 35 below some winters and 110 in summer.. I lost everything my 1st year here.. I do buy flowers and veggies early.. put out during the day bring in at night.. I don't mind the extra work.. the USA needs to revamp their zones..
@kaitteemurry4740--I live in East Central Michigan and map says last frost is May 15th. Not anymore, cause frost here now on May30th/31 th. So, don't put tomatoes out till sometime in early June!( But, am always prepared to cover my plants if it gets too cold. ) You are right! They really need to update that frost date map!!
My first ever tomato plant (last year) was in a 5liter container. It produced the most delicious tasting cherry tomatoes I have ever eaten. It snapped in the wind, I dropped my phone on it's shoots and yet, it still produced a decent sized bowl of cheery tomatoes. This year I'm using a 40liter container, let 'er rip :)
I had blossom end rot 2 years ago, so I added lime as best I could with lime slaked into the watering water, it did the trick. So now I always add a handful of lime whenever I plant tomatoes. It really is a must.
Everything i try to grow dies...so i have not planted anything at in 10 yrs. But after watching numerous videos this morning, i came across this one i think im going to try again. Thanks for all the useful information!
I'm glad you covered the fertilizer, I have a bunch of seeds planted in the greenhouse and now I know what I need for when they are ready for transplant.
Scott, you're a pretty smart fellow and I really enjoy your videos. I just wanted to offer a correction to a statement you made. You " don't see a difference between watering the soil before planting as opposed to after"! So here's the difference. Most people are not patient enough to water enough to get the soil soaked through if they are doing it after planting. If done before planting, it can be mixed and turned to ensure it's all wet. Not so with a plant in the mix. It is not a difference if done properly but a difference in doing it properly! Keep up the videos! Love them! Wade
Your video is so helpful!! I love how detailed you are. As an idiot with the brownest thumb in the universe, you’ve been so amazing. You sometimes sound like Ron Swanson and it makes me very happy.
I’m so glad I found your channel. I bought a tomato plant blindly but would have benefited from your channel when I was at Home Depot. My tomatoes are doing well though so far. New subbie here 🤗
Your corgi is the sweetest thing. But I also want to say I found you yesterday on UA-cam and I must say I love a man that straight to the point and not a lot of chitchat and you give such excellent information. Thank you for your time and effort it’s not overlooked as being one of the best.👍🏼
Hello. I would like to say thank you for the advice you have given. I wrote you a few months ago about a tree branch hitting my new tomato plant. All of the advice you have provided was right on point. What I thought was completely done is now growing tomatoes. Again thank you for the great advice. Take care
Thank you for the information l bought some tomatoes seeds yesterday and I was looking for some explanations how to do it and I'm glad I found you. Big love from Germany.
First video I have watched of yours, ran into it on accident and it was great information for a newbie gardener struggling to keep his tomatoes alive on my small apartment balcony! Keep on keeping on!
Truly another great video! I wish I'd seen this video before I got started. It would have saved me a great deal of time, money and stress! I've watched soooo many videos on growing tomatoes and still learned so much. Thank you thank thank you!
Love your channel. Very informative. Love how you explain things. I could listen to your channel all day talking about plants. I started my tomatoes already and they've sprouted. Now i know more on how to care for it. Thanks! Plus I LOVE watching your corgi walking around. So cute. 🥰
This is AWESOME! I’ve never grown tomatoes and being I have a 3rd floor balcony facing southwest I’m hoping to have some success..rookie mistake already. I bought an indeterminate plant and stuck it in too small a pot.. I’m going to grab another DETERMINATE plant and two big pots and see how I do.. I’d like to grow cucumbers too so I’m off to see if you have a video. Much Obliged!!
Best gardening show I have ever watched. Very good information given through the video and it’s a good thing you are doing. So much good information I have been watching your UA-cam Channel a lot and I am not done.
Thank you so much!! This video is so simple and focused, such high quality. You explained everything very clearly, and I learned a lot! I'm excited to grow tomatoes once winter ends here! My mom will be proud of me!
Hi Scott, (howdy all the way from London UK)I came across your video as this is my 3rd attempt to grow tomatoes. Sadly I did not understand the feeding process and was feeding my tomatoes plants before their fruit showed themself so they have been dying. I managed to get some more plants. I am a bit wiser, I am starting again, two of the plants already have small fruit. Will check their variety, I do not have aa garden as I live in an apartment. I dd get a garden delight because they was the first one I got which died, so want to see if I can grow it again. Love you video, you explained the process in simple terms. I know this video is old but has been so useful.
Proud Newbie. I'm trying. I learned ALOT in the video. Thanks. Can't wait to see if my Newfoundlands protect me from the hose or steal if for themselves.
If you know a landscaper or a tree farm. I get the huge pots from them. They are perfect for tomato root systems. Plus when I cover my compost pile. I just start composting in one of the huge pots. I’ve also sprouted a coco palm from a coconut. Planted it in one of these to grow a good tree like root system first. The thing is about as tall as me now and am ready to plant it in the ground. Great vid on the tomatos👍
You're right about eager producers coming from the big company greenhouses. My bonnie sunsugar tomatos are in a 2 gallon pot and probably have 90+ tomatoes on them already. The ones from the local nursery are producing well but certainly slower.
This guys the most down to earth gardener’s channel ive ever seen i really love his channel pick up a lot of knowledge and his relaxing thanks scott from mick Down under 🇦🇺
There should be a way to hit like to your videos each time I watch them over and over. Such valuable information and a pleasure to watch you. I hope that you gain the subscribers you deserve soon like others have. People will really enjoy your channel once they discover it.
I tried planning my tomatoes in a pot last year,I didn’t get one tomato. After watching your video,I know why. I didn’t do anything right!! Thanks to your video,I am gonna give it another try.
I grow tomatoes from seed. One time I had several that were 2 feet or so before it was warm enough to put outdoors. So I planted them a foot deep. Well, one broke off right at the roots! I said hell with it, stuck it deep in the ground, and babied the hell out of it by watering every day, often twice a day, fertilizer. That stem took hold in the ground and ended up one of my best growers.
So glad I found your channel, I've subscribed. I've been wanting to grow tomatoes but just didn't know where to start. Your instructions are so easy to follow and I shall not procrastinate any further. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Wish you a very Happy 2021. P/S You have one beautiful dog, looks like a Corgi.
I am a new to growing tomatoes, I want to learn all about growing them. I live in AZ, which is very hard to grow anything in this soil, so I have to grow everything in pots. I need all the help I can get. Thank you for sharing.
i know Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the password. I would love any tips you can give me!
@Princeton Elliott i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
that was me a few days ago, walking by vegetable stand in Lowe's and picked up one-had no idea what to do with it. thank you for doing these videos for us newbies.
I like the grow bags ,I bought some 3 years ago and storeing is easy 7 gallons for tomatoes and 15 for potatoes and seems to work . They fill out the pots nice
This video was awesome! I’ve never watched a video this long without skipping until now. You’re such a great teacher. I’m excited to watch your other videos!! I’m new to gardening and you broke this down wonderfully. Thank you
Hey there Scott, perfect timing. I just put my Barry's Crazy tomatoes in their big pots. But I did use a 5 gallon bucket and about a 7 gallon container.
Listening to your voice is very soothing. I'm very thankful for the information and tips you've provided, I appreciate the time and energy you've taken to share :) I've had a few cherry tomato seedlings sprout and I am eager/nervous to pot them soon, just experimenting as a newbie gardner (it's becoming quite the popular hobby these days I see). Best wishes!
wow great info. I honestly wish I watch some of these videos earlier this year when I first started my tomato plants. One of my neighbors stole one of my plants so I'm down to only one Roma plant LOL I already lost a few tomatoes to that flower rot they get on the bottom. But now I finally was able to move my plant to a much bigger pot and it is flourishing now as it seems with tons of new tomatoes growing and so far they look good. Your video is so informative definitely feel encouraged to do excellent next year even if this plant doesn't perform perfectly! 🥰
It's like you knew I was going to look up fabric pot information after watching this! You gave supremely useful information, I've watched several hours a day on this subject, but I feel with this one video has been so dense with information it's worth all of it them some ^-^ amazing job! I appreacite this greatly. Ps. Your fur baby is darling!💗
Excellent tutorial! Subject, speaking voice, timing +++ perfect - thank you, sir! Would like to learn about propagation from stem pinches, I’ve got five rooted and potted, but I’m winging it - cheers
This year I'm growing more tumblers (determinate). I've doubled it to 5. Last year I got blight, but the tumblers escaped it by producing a crop before the blight hit. It broke my heart to bin them. But at least I had enjoyed the tumblers. This year I will plant in pots of the indeterminate with new compost and hope for the best. I have a tiny tiny space, but I will not let that get in my way.
Great vid. Using plastic bag in laundry basket double plastic with patio hybrid 🍅 surrounded by marigolds on my balcony with my fig tree huge hydrangeas pink blue and white and lots of geraniums😊
Another inexpensive idea is to buy a 55 gallon plastic food grade drum. Cut it in half then plant in both ends. You can buy on Ebay for $30.00. Makes two pots. God bless
Yes, that's sort of a small raised bed. You can grow quite a lot in each half of that barrel. Some people even cut them into thirds and get three beds that way (the middle one just doesn't have a bottom, obviously). That still gives you over a foot deep in all three containers, and that's *plenty* for crops that fruit above ground. Heck, even most potato farmers don't have topsoil an entire foot deep. (Honestly, many gardeners and experts wayyy over-estimate the amount of soil most veg plants really need...)
I can’t believe how hard it was to find a video like this without all the advanced confusing stuff! I just wanted to make sure I was doing the basic steps right, Thank you!
I third that comment!
I fourth it!😂
I tried the first time last year and failed miserably- optimistic second time is a charm
I needed this! I love gumbo!!! 🤣
Yes exactly. I am not interested in anything ingenious yet just the simple basics.
I agree 100%!!!!!!
I hope they can grow on my large sun porch which gets plenty of sun from noon until 5 or 6 p.m. we have animals that eat everything so I can't put them outdoors..
also, can I stick about a dozen green onions in there?
Literally spot on!
I appreciate this slow, step by step video. I’m ready to plant my first tomato!
Don't forget the magnesium he doesn't give full information 1 teaspoon in one gall of water every 1 to 2 weeks and 1 tea spoon calcium nitrate water soluble same as magnesium

Try Matt’s wild cherry in those part sun spots. They reseed, too. You’ll have them forever.

This was everything! Most certainty info an inexperienced tomato grower needs to know BEFORE starting and not just talking about pruning. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
You're really good at teaching and explaining things that are otherwise hard to understand. Thanks. Now I wanna learn everything from you. Subscribed !
Thanks you, I hope to be helpful.
If you can't grow one of these GMOs don't bother with real gardening

You then are one of the people I had in mind when I made it. Thank you for the encouraging comment, and best of luck!
how did they turn out?!
I did the exact same thing even down to the same containers, except I bought the same blue ones he has since they matched my other outdoor stuff. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

My first experience was my mom asking me to help hunt the hornworm in the tomato plants. I thought that was so cool.
Thank you for actually going to the store to show a visual as you teach.....Thannkkkkk YOU!!!! This has helped me tremendously
Thanks for the encouraging comment, yeah I figured I needed to go, and only planned to hit up my local feed store, but as you saw they didn't have good selections. :-(
Yes... I needed that trip to the store also
I purchased miracle from shake and feed w/calcium before watching the video can this be an alternative to the fertilizer?

It just about takes longer to describe it than it does to set one up :)
It's true though, even the good food grade buckets only last a few years out in the sun.
Most helpful, simple, video I've seen regarding tomatoes ever... Thanks man
Holy crap. Determinant or indeterminate. 🤦🏼♀️
I was today years old when I found out the plants had that determination. (See what I did there lmao)
This would have saved us so much work over the years as we grew tomatoes.
Best of luck!
Awww, a tomato tutorial isn't complete without a pup and her Frisbee. ❤️
I like your relaxed attitude. Easy ideas, instead of comlicated. I’ll be back
Excellent! I sent this on to my daughter who is just starting out! You covered everything the newbie needs!
This is THE best gardening video I have ever seen! So much great info. You answered every single question I had. Thank you so much!
You explained it so well! I watched 7 other videos on this topic and finally I found yours! Thank you so much for going into detail!
Love them!
Wade
You are an excellent teacher, especially for beginners like me!
Your video is so helpful!! I love how detailed you are. As an idiot with the brownest thumb in the universe, you’ve been so amazing. You sometimes sound like Ron Swanson and it makes me very happy.
I appreciate the Ron Swanson comment. He's one of my favorite characters.
I just found you today, and I’m very grateful for your informative videos. Thank you for taking the time to post them. You do a great job.
Hello. I would like to say thank you for the advice you have given. I wrote you a few months ago about a tree branch hitting my new tomato plant. All of the advice you have provided was right on point. What I thought was completely done is now growing tomatoes. Again thank you for the great advice. Take care
Fantastic! Glad it helped!
Welcome! Hope you do well!
Sunsugar produce TONS of wonderful fruits for me back in 2009, awesome little cherry tomatoes.
This guys the most down to earth gardener’s channel ive ever seen i really love his channel pick up a lot of knowledge and his relaxing thanks scott from mick Down under 🇦🇺
This is the best video. Thank you so much. Every question I had, you answered ! Also, I love your doggie!
When I make the hole, before putting the plant, I add some fertilizer, create a small water well and it has worked well for me.
i appreciate you breaking this down for beginners!!!! i needed this, thank u
I can tell you are a good man Scott. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
This was so fun to watch! Felt like I was right there .
The most informative and high yield video I have come across on growing tomatoes. Thank you would be an understatement.
Glad it was helpful!
I’m just watching this and I planted my tomato’s yesterday 😭 I’m in Houston and it’s hot here already. Let’s hope they survive
You should get some before its too hot for them to pollinate.
Thankyou for all the helpful tips! And your dog is hilarious 😆
Best beginner video I’ve seen. Thank you.
YAY, Black Beauty has landed in it’s final resting spot. Great video and information as usual!
It's wild how much starter plants have gone up over the last 8 years.
Yes, she is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. :-)
Your little corgi is as cute as they come!! Is she a really good garden helper?? I love all the information in this video 😃👍
She is a joy, not much help though, lol.
Dude this video is AWESOME- thank you! Can’t wait to get planting!!!
I've been growing tomatoes etc in pots every year. I start all my seeds in the house then pot them when they're ready 🙂
I am a new to growing tomatoes, I want to learn all about growing them. I live in AZ, which is very hard to grow anything in this soil, so I have to grow everything in pots. I need all the help I can get. Thank you for sharing.
So cool, I like the way you explain things. All my questions were answered and no need to watch another video. This is very rare
OMG! You made this video for me!! This is perfect for me! Thank you so much sir! ❤️😉👊🏻
i know Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the password. I would love any tips you can give me!
@@romanrandall2106 boring bot. stop it.
@Roman Randall instablaster ;)
@Princeton Elliott i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Princeton Elliott It worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you really help me out :D
that was me a few days ago, walking by vegetable stand in Lowe's and picked up one-had no idea what to do with it. thank you for doing these videos for us newbies.
I like the grow bags ,I bought some 3 years ago and storeing is easy 7 gallons for tomatoes and 15 for potatoes and seems to work . They fill out the pots nice
Great idea. Never used them but I definitely will get some. Thanks
First time tomato grower here! Grateful to have found this video
Growing Purple Cherokee’s and a cherry tomato variety if you have any suggestions!
Keep on top of pruning and fertilize regularly and they will be great performers.
This video was awesome! I’ve never watched a video this long without skipping until now. You’re such a great teacher. I’m excited to watch your other videos!! I’m new to gardening and you broke this down wonderfully. Thank you
Ive been making a mix of 2 bags top soil 1 bag composted manure, peat moss and a few handfuls of lime.
Thank you
Love the dog and also, sounds like a ton of birds
I’m soo jealous
Patricia
Great Looking Sago Palm! My uncle (horticulturalist) has had one since his first daughter was born; over 40 years ago. Beautiful specimen.
Hey there Scott, perfect timing. I just put my Barry's Crazy tomatoes in their big pots. But I did use a 5 gallon bucket and about a 7 gallon container.
Sandra Chaluisan Just ordered my Barry’s too, and two other varieties from Boars. Can’t wait to see how they do in zone 10b.
Thanks for the kind words, hope your tomatoes do well for you!
I'm here for the dog cameos.
Scott. fantastic video! Thank you. easy to listen to you, to the point, and enjoyable vibe. Also, your dog rocks!!!
Doug from Detroit
I've got a few more weeks to go before tomato transplanting time .. but the seedlings are looking really good .. waiting is hard, sometimes :)
wow great info.
I salute, great content, very informative, packed full of information, thanks for sharing
This is exactly my speed. Thank you Scott!
Great vid. Using plastic bag in laundry basket double plastic with patio hybrid 🍅 surrounded by marigolds on my balcony with my fig tree huge hydrangeas pink blue and white and lots of geraniums😊
Awesome! Garden where you can, good work!
I have 8 growing potato right now
Thomas Desmond great idea thank you!
