Is there a way to tell if it’s the button that’s broke or the thing near the glove box

Hello. Thanks for watching. This fix is for when the A/C is working properly but still blows hot air. Sometimes the cause of that is the wire on the black gear near the glove box or the wire connection on the heat/cool knob side. The video tries to explain what to check on each side.
If your question is about the A/C on/off button, then one thing to check is if you can hear the compressor starting/stopping when you press the button. If you can't hear/feel the compressor turning on/off there could be other reasons for your problem. UA-cam has many videos for other things to check for A/C problems.
One thing that can affect the Trax A/C is the coolant temperature sensor (most likely on the engine side). If sensor is bad/reading too high, then it can prevent the A/C from even turning on. If it reads too high, then car can also throw some weird code and goes into "limp" mode where the engine barely runs. That is a cheap part to replace and easily accessible. One symptom of a bad temperature sensor is starting a cold engine but the engine cooling fan turns on quickly after starting the car. That occurs because computer thinks temperature is too high. The A/C won't work at all to blow cold in that situation.
NOTE: This is not professional advice. If you aren't sure what you are doing, then it's best to seek professional help/diagnosis from qualified mechanics.
