This video was very insightful. I am a master's student graduating this spring (wootwoot) and have finally gotten my portfolio to be the way I want. It took many iterations, so trust me! The first one most likely won't bet the one you end up with when you graduate! But when you finally find your style, it is so satisfying and self-assuring!
I learnt a lot from that one. Also, super impressed how you millennials can do everything on your phones. My youngest daughter’s thumbs were just a blur one day so I said to here how can she possibly text at that speed? Instantly her thumbs froze up, and suddenly she could only do the tap tap tap text rate. It took her 3 days to get her flying thumbs back up to speed, texting at thought speed without thinking about it. Different skills.
Most architecture universities for undergrad said that are not looking for architectural drawings, however this has a lot of architectural drawings and details. I am now confused about what to do.
This helped me a lot compared to many other portfolio explanation and review videos. I did have a question though. Do you have any tips for those who have not taken any art classes and those who do not have much sample work to currently put in their portfolio?
I’m interested in architecture and design but I’m not the best artist, any tips? I have a few years until I have to start really looking for colleges so I have time but I’d still like some tips on how to improve.
Well am Fricked, I don't have any project to make a portfolio and my architecture class starts at February but the deadline to submit my portfolio is before febuary and I don't know what to do
First time seeing your channel I already loved it and I also wanna be an architecture but can you please react to S.H. Lee's 118 architectures that are taller than the Burj Khalifa video.
Not adding a lot of text, so how much text? What should the text say? And hat do I do if my image is not the size of the page? I can’t fit it in a whole page. How can I follow a grid when the images are all different sizes and proportions?
Keep it to one paragraph worth of text for captions (3-4 sentences, smartly condense it when you can). For project introduction, you can bump up text to two paragraphs. Keep in mind not many people will take the time to read the text! If your image is not the size of the page, try playing with the proportions of it relative to the page. You can also make a grid of images to fill the page. But keep in mind that white space is good. I cannot stress this enough though: never break the grid!! You will have to crop images as you go - and it might be a challenge to determine how you crop things. But you should never break the grid. This is the number 1 mistake I see when reviewing portfolios!
Hey, I've been seeing your videos since many days and it helped me a lot. I'm from India and preparing a portfolio for undergraduate admission in USA. I really need your help I'm so stressed and nothing is coming up in my mind.
… really? The Sims in a portfolio? I don’t want to be mean but damn, I’m not even about to put renders from sketchup into my portfolio I can’t imagine letting an admissions office see stuff from a video game straight off the bat. I feel like that’s just so inappropriate, especially considering the rest of the pieces make an excellent body of work, it’s so jarring to see physical models and excellent renders shoved to the back of the portfolio, like huh?
Just submitted my undergrad portfolio. Seeing this portfolio made me feel so nervous, because this is amazingly beautiful.
Abby had incredible work but also don't sell yourself short!! We're all our own worst critic)):
Where did you apply to?

congratulations on almost graduating!! portfolios is always works in progress and it takes time to develop it to the level/standard you want it to be
Also I would’ve put the best works towards the front of the portfolio. That model was beautiful and it deserves to hit our eyes sooner.
I agree 100% the model is stunning!!!!!!
Honestly, the art work is phenomenal. I'd just stick to a consistent style and follow a grid like Natalie said.
incredible art work is an understatement! She's incredibly talented
❤️🔥🙌🏽 I definitely have to get better & update my portfolio! & you’re my inspiration for that!!
You got this! Keep us posted!

My portfolio is just a sheet of A4 paper that shows projects name, area and volume. Always works.
thank u very much this is really helpful
Hi! Is it a good idea to include conceptual diagrams in portfolio ? Or just showcase the final rendered drawings ?
Always always show conceptual diagrams!!!!!!
@@UnravelingArchitecture yeah i agree but i saw portfolios having just big 3Ds and drawings and despite that are accepted into good schools
Awesome work!! And great feedback :)
