Having a passion for both Mathematics and Arts, I believe I have found a perfect program i.e Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies. I am really looking forward to your suggestion as to what I could do next in order to apply without taking the portfolios into consideration.
Lots of schools don’t require a portfolio, so I would look into those colleges! Most people don’t have a lot of exposure to architecture before college, and I think that colleges understand that. As long as you express your genuine interests in architecture (+ design, creativity, problem-solving), I think that would be a solid application. Good luck!! :)

I have 10 days to make a 10 piece portfolio for architecture, not having done anything in the past based on it. They accept photographs, sculptures, models, architecture sketches, paintings, acquarels, ecc and I really don’t think I can make it. What can I make with no experience?
Wow that sounds intense! The good thing is that everyone gets the same amount of time, so hopefully that levels out the playing field. Plus, the reviewers know that you only had ten days to make it, so maybe they grade it easier? You probably want to have some range in your portfolio, so try to do different things. The architectural sketches and photographs definitely seem do-able. Maybe if your portfolio has a theme, that'll spark some inspiration. Try going for a walk and sketch and photograph your neighborhood? Later, you can even make a painting out of your sketches. These are just some ideas. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
Sorry if this question seems unrealistic, but is it ok if I put some Minecraft builds/projects, which I made them all by myself without copying anything, into my architecture portfolio (the portfolio for applications to universities)? I have built medieval kingdoms (in survival and creative mode) and have won a few bite-sized building tournaments hosted by small servers. The kingdoms are fairly large in scale and densely detailed. I do have various kinds of artwork (like paintings, sketches, oil paint, wet paint), but they were drawn like years ago. Plus, I treat building in Minecraft like art and very seriously. Just want to know if those builds could come in handy. Also, your video is really helpful! It saved me a lot of time to be honest lol.
I'm not really sure! You could include maybe one build that you're most proud of? Just thinking from the admissions officer's perspective, they might not know what Minecraft is lol. If you have an art teacher, maybe ask them and get their opinion on it?
How did you choose which drawings and photos to put in your portfolio? And how did you go about coming up with what to draw and photograph? Might be a little late to ask, considering deadlines are so soon, but I’m trying to put together a portfolio, and I don’t know what admissions wants to see, or even how to format my portfolio so I’ve been looking at videos like these.
I chose photos that I feel like I could talk about. If you can find specific things you like about the way you shot a photo (colors, composition, focus, lighting, shape, etc), then I would consider it a "good" photo. That's all personal, though. Maybe show some people (esp art teachers) some of your photos and ask for their input! With drawings, I feel like still-lifes are the way to go. You can use any combination of household items in a still life, and try to compose it in a compelling way. Hope this helps!
Hi, I’m applying to cornell this year and as I see other people’s portfolios on youtube, it worries me since I don’t really have physical models but rather more drawings and paintings. I’ve been more into fine arts until last year and I got interested in architecture this year so I don’t know if I’ll need more models for my portfolio. Can I have your opinion on what you think I should do?
I believe that models are pretty uncommon for high schoolers, colleges are definitely expecting more fine arts! Show everything that speaks to your creativity, problem solving, design intuition, personality, etc.!
I applied for architecture at university, initially I wasn't going to do this but decided that it was the only course at university I felt would suit me.most of my drawings are of the comic/manga variety however I have been branching out into different more realistic styles but with the deadlines fast approaching I feel the pressure ( and abit of regret.) Do you have any advice on using soft pastels or painting as I have very little experience in these areas
colleges and universities are definitely not expecting any high schooler to have experience with architecture, as that is super uncommon. they understand that everyone applying has a limited background (if any) on architecture, and they'll teach you all the skills anyways. the most important aspect of your portfolio is to show your creativity & interest in design!
Hey Bojo, loved the video helped me get a start in a direction that i want to go in, However why exactly did you choose to create each of those pieces. Just wondering since I just wanted a foundation on what schools would be looking for in a more general sense.
