I watched an interview with Lou Gramm where he talked about recording this song, how they left the recording studio to watch Jr. play nearby and asked if he'd record a solo for this song, and Lou did say that Jr. did record several sax lines that they edited together. Hello, your videos are the best! Thank you for so much information and style when playing tenor saxophone! One question, maybe you've already been asked, what tenor sax mouthpiece do you use? I haven't seen that you have described the nozzle model, thank you!
According to Mick Jones (FOREIGNER band leader) Junior Walker did the solo in three parts. Then during the tours for live performance he had to learn the whole solo to play live in from of the audience. REALLY CHALLENGING EVEN FOR THE GREAT JUNIOR WALKER (Aretha Franklin' sax man!)

Wonderful, but this is too much for me, Jamie already asked you for a very high video for alto saxophone (how to gradually get to very high notes), don't forget it when you can. Thank you
In fact, yes, according to Lou Gramm himself, the solo was recorded as different phases separated and not in one take from start to finish. Jr Walker made a longer solo and the band did "cut" the best parts and assembled them together. But Gramm added that Walker once played the solo note-for-note during some concerts. But this was not the case during the recording sessions. I was a bit disappointed by that, to be honest...
Thanks for that super knowledgeable comment. I've got a recording of that one time he played it with them live somewhere. It's longer than the recorded version, so he plays the full recorded solo then jams out a bit more which is cool. As I think I mention of the video, it seems impossible for him to make one of the leaps that he makes in one take!
