I really really love listening to Dr. RC Sproul and seeing how much animation He puts into his Sermons and his passion for the Scriptures is unmatched and I just go through as many as I can. Thank you Dr. Sproul for having shared your life with us all right up until your death and I know you’re in Heaven right now with your beloved Jesus Christ.
This has really blessed me,I may not have meet him personally here(on earth) but there was no one like RC as his teachings lives. Many of you believe some verses in the Bible, think they know and follow Christ, and are saved; and find themselves to be in the first one. Why? Because they do not truly know Christ, nor the True Faith, and are separated from the Source of Grace like branches separated from the Vine (John 15:6), which is the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church He founded and sent for salvation of souls until the end of time (Matt 28:20, Mark 16:16). @@hyeminkwun9523you are brainwashed by Catholicism. I feel sorry for you. Salvation can not be lost. If you believe otherwise then you don’t know scripture very well. I just realized that this man formed my theology as a servant of God. Although I grew up in the Pentecostal church and became a servant of God in the Pentecostal church too, but my heart is in the Reformed side. Thank you R.C Sproul, your ministries echoes forever in my heart. ♥️🇮🇩

@@hyeminkwun9523Are Catholic beliefs and practices biblical? The question that concerns every church and its practices should be, "Is this biblical?" If a teaching is biblical (taken in context), it should be accepted. If it is not, it should be rejected. God is more interested in whether a church does His will and obeys His Word than whether it can trace its lineage back to Jesus' apostles. Jesus was very concerned about the Word of God being rejected to follow traditions of men (Mark 7:7). Traditions are not inherently wrong...there are some good and valuable traditions. To reiterate, the concern should be whether a doctrine, practice or tradition is biblical. How then does the Catholic Church compare to the Word of God? Salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that salvation is regenerated through baptism and maintained through the Catholic sacraments, except through a willful act of sin that destroys the sanctified state of grace. The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace, which we receive through simple faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), and that good works are the result of a changed heart worked out in salvation (Ephesians 2:10; I Corinthians 5:17) and through the fruit of new life in Christ (John 15). Assurance of salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Assurance of salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that salvation is not guaranteed or certain. 1 John 5:13 says that the reason for writing 1 John was so that believers could be ASSURED of their salvation. Good works: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Christians are saved by meritorious works (beginning with baptism), and that salvation is maintained by good works (receiving the sacraments, confessing sins to a priest, etc.). The Bible teaches that Christians are saved by grace through faith, completely apart from works (Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:8-9, Galatians 3:10-11; Romans 3:19-24). Baptism: In the New Testament, baptism ALWAYS comes AFTER saving faith in Christ. Baptism is not the reason for salvation; it is faith in the gospel that saves (1 Corinthians 1:14-18; Romans 10:13-17). The Roman Catholic Church teaches the regeneration of infants through baptism, a practice never found in Scripture. The only possible reference to the baptism of infants that the Roman Catholic Church can point to is that the entire household of the jailer in Philippi was baptized, as recorded in Acts 16:33. However, the context never mentions infants. Acts 16:31 explains that salvation comes by faith. Paul addressed the whole household in verse 31, and the whole household believed (verse 34). This passage only supports the baptism of those who have already believed, not that of infants. Prayer: The Roman Catholic Church teaches Catholics not only to pray to God, but also to petition Mary and the saints for their prayers. Contrary to this, Scripture teaches us to pray to God alone (Matthew 6:9; Luke 18:1-7). Priesthood: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that there is a difference between priests and "commoners," where the New Testament teaches that all believers hold the priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). Sacraments: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that a believer is filled with grace by receiving the sacraments. This teaching is nowhere to be found in Scripture. Confession: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that, unless the believer is incapacitated, the only way to be forgiven of sins is through confession to a priest. In contrast, Scripture teaches that confession of sins is made to God alone (1 John 1:9). Mary: The Roman Catholic Church teaches, among other things, that Mary is the Queen of Heaven, everlasting Virgin and with redeemer who ascended to heaven. In the Holy Scriptures she is portrayed as an obedient, faithful servant of God who became the mother of Jesus. None of the other attributes mentioned by the Roman Catholic Church have their basis in the Bible. The view that Mary was the co-redemptrix and is another mediator between God and man is not only extra-biblical (found only outside of Scripture), but is also unbiblical (contrary to Scripture). Acts 4:12 declares that Jesus is the only Savior. 1 Timothy 2:5 proclaims that Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. Many other examples could be listed here. These points alone clearly identify the Catholic Church as unbiblical. Every Christian denomination has traditions and practices that are not explicitly based on the Bible. This is the reason why Scripture must be the standard for Christian belief and practice. The Word of God is always true and trustworthy. The same cannot be said about church traditions. Our guideline should be: "What does the Bible say?" (Romans 4:3; Galatians 4:30; Acts 17:10). 2 Timothy 3:16-17 proclaims, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly prepared for every good work.
Excellent and well-organized message. I have never thought of Genesis 15:17 in that light. And his interpretation is backed up by Jer. 34:18 and Heb. 6.
Interesting that you should mention that verse in relation to this sermon. The Holy Spirit has put deeply in my heart to translate them all into my native language, brazilian Portuguese. I was just wondering if someone had already done it. If not, I'be most honoured by doing so.
I recently watched a video of a Q&A wherein he expressed his inner doubt of his salvation in light of Matthew 7:22-23. I found it interesting in light of his promotion of the doctrine of election and unconditional election.
I have finally entered God's rest and it all started years ago with learning that the doctrine of eternal torture was based on incorrect translations of the word aion, which is translated age in one verse and forever in in another. Read Louis Abbott's book An Analytical Study of Words to learn more and start your journey to God.
There is also aionios. 2Co 4:18 (KJV) - While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal(proskairos); but the things which are not seen are eternal(aionios) And yet ? Here, eternal is juxtaposed with timeless. Matthew 25:41 KJV - Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Matthew 25:46 KJV - And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
If a once-saved Christian abandons the faith and returns to his vomit thus forfeiting the prize of salvation, it is NOT God who has broken his promise.
terminat1 - 1 Tim 4:1 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. Doesn’t get much more plain than that......
Bob, I have a dear Methodist friend (also a pastor) who expresses the same sentiment, but in the end, faith that is salvific is of a sole location or "locus of control"... it is either in God or oneself. Arminian theology is in self-wrought faith... and thus lies the distinction. Faith is either mustered, and therefore contributed, by the individual, or it is gifted & granted by God. The Bible definitively states the latter two. The former are illustrative of the faith can be made "shipwreck of". In the spirit of charity, Arminian theology is essential spiritual discipline... and thereby called for to "make one's calling and election sure"... but God is the Author and Finisher, and He works in US that which is pleasing in His sight. For this, we can only have the awe of gratitude. Soli Deo Gloria ...and God bless you
So good. I have been blessed. Just one question….why was there an oven and maybe some more explanation about the birds of prey. Thank you for the availability of this real good teaching.
Our LORD tells us in Matthew 5: 33 to 37, not to swear on anything but to let our yes mean yes and no mean no. Therefore swearing on the Bible in court, is against Gods word.
ASV Matthew 5 : 33 “Again you have heard that it was said to those who lived long ago: Don’t make a false solemn pledge, but you should follow through on what you have pledged to the Lord.[d] 34 But I say to you that you must not pledge at all. You must not pledge by heaven, because it’s God’s throne. 35 You must not pledge by the earth, because it’s God’s footstool. You must not pledge by Jerusalem, because it’s the city of the great king. 36 And you must not pledge by your head, because you can’t turn one hair white or black. 37 Let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no. Anything more than this comes from the evil one.
OSAS: true testimony to the power of seducing spirits! The apostle Paul understood he could return to a life of sin, and therefore be rejected . . . a "castaway:" ⚫ "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." (1 Corinthians 9:27)
@@terrysordal1693 OSAS is a lie, for sure. Bottom line, easy-believism's "faith alone, instantly saved, eternally secure" message DEFIES ALL THE WARNINGS provided in scripture. I'll list some of those warnings below. People need to WAKE UP because there is massive deception going on. Spiritual warfare is raging and most don't realize it. If "eternal security" were true, then there would have been no point in warnings like these: ⚫ "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (Jesus, in John 15:6) You must first *_be_* a branch before you can be "cast forth as a branch." And obviously we *can* be "cast forth" after becoming a branch. Jesus did not say "once a branch, always a branch." It's amazing to me that anyone could conclude you're still "saved" after being "cast off as a branch" and "withered" and "cast into the fire" and "burned." Simply amazing . . . but people will believe what they want to believe. Jesus clearly warned what would happen to servants who returned to sin: ⚫ "But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers." (Jesus, in Luke 12:45,46) "Once saved, always saved," with "eternal security"? Apparently not. Sins "all paid for, past, present and future"? Apparently not. That servant was going to pay for his sins himself. The apostle Paul had the holy spirit. Paul clearly refuted "once saved, always saved": he stated it was possible for him to revert to a life of sin and therefore be rejected . . . thrown out . . . a "castaway": ⚫ "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." (1 Corinthians 9:27) There's a message there for all who have been misled to believe that *having* the holy spirit is a guarantee of your salvation. We must remain in repentance, being *led* by the holy spirit (Romans 8:13,14) and "walking after the spirit" (Romans 8:1) . . . not just _having_ it and ignoring it. The apostle Paul warned that Gentile believers - even after being "graffed" into the "vine," - could be "cut off" the vine, just as the "natural branches" (the Israelites) had been broken off: ⚫ "Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches, *take heed lest he also spare not thee.* Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, *if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off."* (Romans 11:19-22) If, after overcoming sin through knowing Jesus, a person then returns to a life of sin, "the latter end is worse with them than the beginning": ⚫ "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire." (2 Peter 2:20-22) Here is another warning "if" about returning to a life of sin: ⚫ "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries." (Hebrews 10:26,27) *_Can you lose your salvation?_* Trick question, because it presumes you *_have_* salvation. However Jesus said we must endure to the end to be saved (Matthew 10:22) . . . and we have not endured to the end. Christians need to understand justification (now) vs salvation (later). Paul wrote that justification and salvation are different things, at different times (Romans 5:9). While we abide in Jesus and "walk after the spirit" (Romans 8:1) we remain in justification and are "in His goodness" or grace (Romans 11:22) -not under condemnation. While in justification we have "the hope of salvation" and are "appointed . . . to obtain salvation" as Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:8,9. We have many warnings not to fall away from justification because if we do, we'll forfeit that "hope of salvation." We'll miss our appointment to receive the promised gift of eternal life (1 John 2:25), at Jesus' "revelation," His return (1 Peter 1:13; 1 Corinthians 15:50-54; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). Upon receiving eternal life at Jesus' return, then you will have eternal security. Short of receiving eternal life you will perish, very much unsaved. ⚫ "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it." (Hebrews 4:1) Here's more of the many warnings not to fall away. Note the "ifs" with conditions: ⚫ "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 1:10,11 ) ⚫ "Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;" (Hebrews 3:12-14) ⚫ "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;" (Colossians 1:21-23 ) Another "if": we must choose to be led by the holy spirit: ⚫ "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." (Romans 8:13,14) It IS possible to fall away, even after being made a "partaker" of the holy spirit! There would have been no point in writing the next passage if it were impossible to fall away: ⚫ "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." (Hebrews 6:4-6) We can "fail of the grace of God": ⚫ "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled" (Hebrews 12:14,15) Our names CAN be blotted out of the book of life: ⚫ "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels." "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." (Revelation 3:5 and 22:19)
@The Bible Says, Paul knew he couldn’t lose his salvation, we are SEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT UNTIL THE DAY OF REDEMPTION if we’re born again, Ephesians 4:30. You can’t be unborn of the Holy Spirit.
@@terrysordal1693, you have a false gospel. We’re saved by trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ ALONE, not by our own works. Read Luke 18, the parable of the Pharisee and the Publican and see which one is justified, the one trusting in his own works to save him, or the one trusting only in God’s mercy.
@@Redeemed.of.YHVH.thru.Christ Paul had the holy spirit . . . and taught that he could possibly return to a life of sin and therefore be rejected -a "castaway": ⚫ "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." (1 Corinthians 9:27) And Paul did not teach that he was saved; he taught we have "the hope of salvation": ⚫ "But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ" (Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 5:8,9). In this mortal life we may enter justification with God. And while we remain in justification we have "the hope of salvation": the promised gift of eternal life (1 John 2:25), to be received at Jesus' return (1 Peter 1:13; 1 Corinthians 15:50-54). While we continue to abide in Jesus in repentance, following the holy spirit, we remain in justification -not under condemnation: ⚫ "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1) While we continue to abide in Jesus in repentance, following the holy spirit, Jesus continues to cover any new sins with His blood: ⚫ "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1 John 1:7) If we revert to un-repentance and willful sin - no longer abiding in Him, no longer following the holy spirit - there remains no more blood/sacrifice for our new sins: ⚫ "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries." (Hebrews 10:26,27) Therefore we have many warnings not to fall away from justification. If we fall away, we forfeit our hope of salvation. No longer "in His goodness" or grace, we'll be cut off: ⚫ "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (Jesus, in John 15:6) ⚫ "Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off." (Romans 11:22) ⚫ "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it." (Hebrews 4:1)

Thank you Dr. Sproul for having shared your life with us all right up until your death and I know you’re in Heaven right now with your beloved Jesus Christ.
This is RC at his finest. I thank God that He has given me ears to hear this great news. God has had mercy on me and I will be forever thankful.
Pastor RC, every time I hear the Word preached from him it's like I'm hearing it for the first time again. 🙏

Why follow false teachers and risk your eternal salvation?
Assurance of salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that
Assurance of salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that salvation is not guaranteed or certain.

Only Jesus can give salvation to our souls. Our souls were originally from heaven, initially given by God the Creator to Adam, the first human!
God doesn't lie.He just changes his mind.
If a once-saved Christian abandons the faith and returns to his vomit thus forfeiting the prize of salvation, it is NOT God who has broken his promise.
Someone who is truly saved cannot abandon the faith. This is because our salvation is made secure by God, not by our fallible efforts.
terminat1 - 1 Tim 4:1 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.
Doesn’t get much more plain than that......
"Faith" doesn't have to mean saving faith.
Bob,
I have a dear Methodist friend (also a pastor) who expresses the same sentiment, but in the end, faith that is salvific is of a sole location or "locus of control"... it is either in God or oneself.
Soli Deo Gloria
...and God bless you
Once born again you can't be 'unborn'.
So good. I have been blessed. Just one question….why was there an oven and maybe some more explanation about the birds of prey. Thank you for the availability of this real good teaching.

OSAS: true testimony to the power of seducing spirits! The apostle Paul understood he could return to a life of sin, and therefore be rejected . . . a "castaway:"
⚫ "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." (1 Corinthians 9:27)
OSAS is a false doctrine.
If "eternal security" were true, then there would have been no point in warnings like these:
⚫ "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (Jesus, in John 15:6)
You must first *_be_* a branch before you can be "cast forth as a branch." And obviously we *can* be "cast forth" after becoming a branch. Jesus did not say "once a branch, always a branch." It's amazing to me that anyone could conclude you're still "saved" after being "cast off as a branch" and "withered" and "cast into the fire" and "burned." Simply amazing . . . but people will believe what they want to believe.
Jesus clearly warned what would happen to servants who returned to sin:
⚫ "But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers." (Jesus, in Luke 12:45,46)
"Once saved, always saved," with "eternal security"? Apparently not.
Sins "all paid for, past, present and future"? Apparently not.
That servant was going to pay for his sins himself.
The apostle Paul had the holy spirit. Paul clearly refuted "once saved, always saved": he stated it was possible for him to revert to a life of sin and therefore be rejected . . . thrown out . . . a "castaway":
⚫ "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." (1 Corinthians 9:27)
There's a message there for all who have been misled to believe that *having* the holy spirit is a guarantee of your salvation. We must remain in repentance, being *led* by the holy spirit (Romans 8:13,14) and "walking after the spirit" (Romans 8:1) . . . not just _having_ it and ignoring it.
The apostle Paul warned that Gentile believers - even after being "graffed" into the "vine," - could be "cut off" the vine, just as the "natural branches" (the Israelites) had been broken off:
⚫ "Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
For if God spared not the natural branches, *take heed lest he also spare not thee.*
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, *if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off."* (Romans 11:19-22)
If, after overcoming sin through knowing Jesus, a person then returns to a life of sin, "the latter end is worse with them than the beginning":
⚫ "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire." (2 Peter 2:20-22)
Here is another warning "if" about returning to a life of sin:
⚫ "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries." (Hebrews 10:26,27)
*_Can you lose your salvation?_* Trick question, because it presumes you *_have_* salvation.
⚫ "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it." (Hebrews 4:1)
Here's more of the many warnings not to fall away. Note the "ifs" with conditions:
⚫ "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 1:10,11 )
⚫ "Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;" (Hebrews 3:12-14)
⚫ "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;" (Colossians 1:21-23 )
Another "if":
we must choose to be led by the holy spirit:
⚫ "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." (Romans 8:13,14)
It IS possible to fall away, even after being made a "partaker" of the holy spirit! There would have been no point in writing the next passage if it were impossible to fall away:
⚫ "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." (Hebrews 6:4-6)
We can "fail of the grace of God":
⚫ "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled" (Hebrews 12:14,15)
Our names CAN be blotted out of the book of life:
⚫ "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels."
"And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." (Revelation 3:5 and 22:19)
@The Bible Says, Paul knew he couldn’t lose his salvation, we are SEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT UNTIL THE DAY OF REDEMPTION if we’re born again, Ephesians 4:30.
@@Redeemed.of.YHVH.thru.Christ Paul had the holy spirit . . . and taught that he could possibly return to a life of sin and therefore be rejected -a "castaway":
⚫ "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." (1 Corinthians 9:27)
And Paul did not teach that he was saved; he taught we have "the hope of salvation":
⚫ "But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
While we continue to abide in Jesus in repentance, following the holy spirit, we remain in justification -not under condemnation:
⚫ "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1)
While we continue to abide in Jesus in repentance, following the holy spirit, Jesus continues to cover any new sins with His blood:
⚫ "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1 John 1:7)
If we revert to un-repentance and willful sin - no longer abiding in Him, no longer following the holy spirit - there remains no more blood/sacrifice for our new sins:
⚫ "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries." (Hebrews 10:26,27)
Therefore we have many warnings not to fall away from justification. If we fall away, we forfeit our hope of salvation. No longer "in His goodness" or grace, we'll be cut off:
⚫ "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (Jesus, in John 15:6)
⚫ "Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off." (Romans 11:22)
⚫ "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it." (Hebrews 4:1)
