- Ferreting under a big old tree. Ferrets hunting rabbits.
To net the large opening in the tree I used a 5ft purse net. It's not always this easy to place your peg by an opening like this. An extra bit of cordage can be used to extend the nets pull cord, which can then be tied around a branch, loose bit of bark or the trunk itself. It's almost always ideal to have your pull cord and peg above the hole, but in some situations you may have to settle with whats available.,

These rabbits are collected for food, for my ferrets and people. This is a free range meat, that has lived a free life. These rabbits will be controlled even without me. By taking them myself, the meat is used. Ferreting is an environmentally friendly method of harvesting free range meat.

Thanks. Was early in the day so we had time to wait. The danger would be if a collar got snagged on a root, I would find a way to get them out though.

Yes, but they mostly get insta kill cuz they snap their own neck, if don't get snaps their neck so it's a fast and less painful dead than shot a lot of lead in the Warren.

Pascal Beyer their ferrets, that’s why we call it ferreting. Their are no minks here in England.

@@dalenicholls4427 Yes! In the time I have made this comment I saw my first mink. Also sorry, when I made this comment I was young and didn’t know what I was talking about (hence the bad spelling lol). I now know there is an invasive species of North American mink in the UK. :)

not a great place for a lay up gotta use them ferrets that will come away from a kill like my jills will but my big hob would be down there all day giving them a good hiding lol , certainly no digging there
My hob kills in every time too, putting him in is the last you see for an hour or more.
