Nah man, nah.
Raid Light Unknowns
I love how the medias reaction to the worlds first real-life costumed "super hero" vigilante is exactly how they are predicted in the comics and movies. Great to see the media follow a comic book stereotype so accurately.
Except unlike the movies and comics, in real life they were right about him.
@@stuglife5514 I like to think that the comics are the fictionalised accounts written from the pov of the self acclaimed superheroes. Of course they are the good guys. Of course there's absolutely no reason why they aren't well liked. No, they didn't fuck up, people are just jealous. 😂
additionally the arc of the character himself is comic book classic. hero makes mistakes, gets outed by the team and loses all credibility.
@@MaryGraceRu hell he's even trying to go through the redemption arc right now.
he's definitely not the first, but yeah.
"Man comes out of foster system to become a special needs teacher" Dude was already a hero, why did he throw it all away for this..

This should be the top comment!
He threw out his golden heart too. Heard he's letting a 16 year old fawn over him. He's really lost himself after that cocaine job those years back, which is a painful shame.

I live in Seattle-During the protests last summer, I met some of the former Rain City heroes. They covered a lot of ground, offering water, PPE, granola bars and fruit, and other forms of mutual aid. And that’s what I love to see, is this emphasis of collective care. Connectivity fueling a community. They didn’t boost their ego when helping others. You do the right thing because it’s right.
@LilHeinz94 the city is fine. It’s totally ok. Mutual aid helps.
@LilHeinz94 you clearly don’t fucking live in Seattle. Sincerely, someone born and raised here. The city is fine. I spend tons of time downtown. It’s all good. You ain’t from Seattle. You’re probably from Eastern Washington, if you’re even from Washington. No one is killed, no one is harassed. No Starbucks burning down.

@@lowrider81hd I just love the history of euphemisms like that, don't you? Especially ones in different languages. I also like how everyone here gets "blood is thicker than water" completely wrong. The old adage means the exact opposite of what they think it does.
I…honestly don’t think this guy is a bad person. I think he’s a good person who let his ego get the best of him and is now trying to be a better person again (even if I believe that he should change his methods) And honestly? I wish him the best.
I also belive he's not a bad guy, but it doesn't make him any less dangerous. I too wish him the best, but I'm also convinced that the best won't happen if he doesn't stop.
He's not trying to be better. Trust me. He's got this 16 year old fawning all over him and it's honestly super creepy. When he began doing this, he was a completely different guy, even though he's always had a bit of an ego. But now, I can confidently say that he is not a good person. At all.

I really do wish Phoenix Jones could have a purely wholesome story, like even knowing all the controversy and crimes commited by him, what he stood for initially is still inspiring. It's a shame really how it ended

"Heroes" like this should make it a rule to stay out of the public conversation and not talk to news and do stuff for the public besides patrol. It's just gonna get to their heads like Jones. Something that should take years to be prepared for.
It is really interesting to see stuff like this because the fictional idea of a superhero just isn't something that would really work in real life. If someone actually wanted to help reduce crime, they'd be campaigning for programs that address the root causes and supporting people before they become desperate, rather than harassing homeless people.
This exactly. All people like Phoenix Jones do is make things worse
@@Imperial_Squid heck the only reason superheroes work is because of supervillains, advanced technology or out of the world threats. Not just petty crime
@@MalakaiXed excellent point!
Those heroes exist, PJ even made fun of them. Until he came along, the only real life "superheroes" did exactly as you describe. They'd do things like hand out food to the homeless, visit schools and children's hospitals, and even carry around a clipboard with voter registration slips to get people registered. One guy in DC would hand out copies of the Constitution.
But PJ looked down on all of them and would smugly call himself "the only REAL superhero" while mocking them and calling them dorky LARPers. Stay classy, PJ 🙄
@@WobblesandBean Oh wow, I hadn't heard of him! That's really cool, good on somebody being actually committed to make change

LOL FR 💀💀💀
These "real life superheroes" always perplexed me as a kid, because I never thought that they could do anything that police and other organized systems couldn't. Not that I really support the police, but what makes superheroes appealing to so many is that they have something extraordinary about them, some kind of power or ability that made them capable of more than the average person. Or they were rich and had cool tech. These people are just dressing up in costumes and punching stuff, spraying people. Far less appealing tbh.
Yeah it’s not like they can fly or something cool, they just drive around in a car and run on foot to do anything like everyone else
To be fair the original concept is admirable, extra eyes and ears on the street with the backbone to make citizens arrests preventing crime and violence. I think a lot of the issue here is that there either was not enough crime so they basically harassed people who were drunk and rowdy but nothing above a “get home safe” from a cop or they were out of their league and resulted to pepper spraying an entire radius and running away. There’s nothing wrong with trying to stop people from committing crimes if you’re ready to face the possibility of getting laced but don’t get in the way of cops trying to do their jobs or become the terror yourself.
@@empac8631 "extra ears and eyes on streets to help police"
Isn't it just militia?
It was a thing in USSR, and my dad actually did that
Basically, it was patrolling with friends and bringing people that drunk too much to the sobering-up stations. Rarely they broke fights.
I only know about things my dad talked about with his mother, so it's not a reliable testimony :(
But, yeah.
UPD: I wanted to add that Russia had Chistomen, an irl vigilant superhero for years now.
Founds trashed up places in parks and forests, and tidying them. Inspired a lot of people to do the same. Refused to work with a government.
Wears green costume.
He's very sweet, and we love him
@@smirnovamaria9611 there was a popular group in the late 70’s-80’s called the angels or something, that would walk around the streets at night in red hats and usually camo gear. It was basically the same type of idea; safer in numbers and making citizens arrests on people breaking the law, but they did it better than this group and tended to know where to put their nose in and when to let a cop handle the business or when someone was no threat. They still operate today through many cities in the US. Personally we have nothing like this in Canada that I can think of, but it sounds like you’re describing virtually the same idea which shout out to your father for trying to help his community and protect other people.
The drunk hassling thing isn’t the best use of time considering most drunk people are more of a danger to themselves usually, but I do admire that buddy in the video stopped a guy from drinking and driving.
You can support the police in their attempt to stop real crime while also being against police brutality. Felt the need to point that out because i found it weird that you qualified your statement against crazy vigilantes by pointing out that you don’t support police lol. I see what you’re saying but while I am against police abusing their power, I want them around.

The only way a super hero could work in real life is to be Bruce Wayne rich and have technology to compensate the humans weakness. But if you are Bruce Wayne rich you might don't care about down to earth crime.
Nope people that rich would rather fly their own private shuttle to the moon rather than help people

Very ironic that Phoenix thought lowly of other superheros doing charity work in uniform despite uplifting the disadvantaged in society being an incredibly noble pursuit with more long-term benefits.
What annoys me is that he's putting himself in the spotlight taking pics and talking with people. I hate that. If you wanna be a hero don't be doing interviews and getting clout

I was shocked about how bad and egotistical he had gotten. It’s a shame but oh well. He lived long enough to see himself become the villain.
I really hope he gets a redemption story in the next few years. I remember watching youtube videos about him when I was still in elementary school and it was really inspirational. I mean what kid doesn't get a little excited at the thought of a real life batman?
It should inspire us all to be better and to look out for each other step up if someone needs help even if it’s the smallest help like helping an elderly person with their groceries or helping an injured pigeon
I think no story and completely disappearing and distancing himself from this part of his life would be the best redemption. I’m not being harsh when I say this would be good idea to completely change his surroundings, possibly his name, go all in into therapy for his own sake and NOT “owe to his fans and supporters” to post a follow up
I honestly hope Phoenix makes the right decisions down the road. He's made a lot of pit falls in recent years, and they've definitely corrupted his image.
I like the idea of having real life superheroes in the public consciousness, especially with trust in the police being at an all time low. It's honestly kind of exciting, and interesting seeing ordinary citizens taking up the mantle, and doing what they think is right (whether for better or worse).

For being "the rainy city" there's a significant lack of it in all videos. Where's the rain, Seattle? Does it drop only during business hours?
Well, we have the most days/year with rainfall of many major US city because, outside of summer, it's basically always overcast. but on average it's only 1/4 or 1/2 inch of rain a day - more of a drizzle or mist really. "The Somewhat Moist City" isn't as catchy of a name though.
@@OyVeey But it would be a more marketable name for tourism. "Hey guys, we're not more rainy than any other place on the same longitude and similar geographic position (proximity to sea, height above sea level etc.) So consider us for a vacation. Police are afraid how he used pepper spray. Have you seen how cops use pepper spray? “He’s filming us! My life is in danger! *pepper spray entire area, including his partner”
Doesn't give the right or an excuse to a random citizen to do the same abhorrent thing too
As a Seattle native, the response time for cops is about 1-2 hours in downtown unless someone is genuinely dying. You are just out of luck if you're being robbed or have been assaulted in a non-life threatening way. I'd love for more people to decide to involve themselves like this, especially after all of the riots that happened over the last couple of years.
"Armed with only a can of pepper spray and reckless abandon" 😂😂😂 idk why but that was hilarious
Being a hero is more than putting on a suit and beating and macing everyone that is threatening. Protecting and helping the community. Making sure that the people around you are healthy and feel like they won't be harmed. Participating in events, volunteering in places of need like soup kitchens and helping those in need. That's a superhero. Being selfless and compassionate. That's a real hero.
And there are real-life superheroes who do that. And Phoenix Jones made fun of them. We really shouldn’t have been surprised this guy was not the best person

I feel bad for him. The thought of the girl's death haunts him to this day because he was powerless to save her.
I feel bad for him too but his whole thing was jumping into situations without assessing what was actually going on first, and just chasing the first shady person he sees. I dont think he could have saved her but nothing was helped by him running off like that
He should have thought about that when he was selling drugs he let her down and that’s his own fault

this dude has interested me since i first heard of him in like 2014 or so, awesome to see you covering his whole story because you talked about a lot of stuff i missed. great video!
Is it a coincidence that he named his group RCSM? I mean, I immediately saw “Racism” and wondered if he did it on purpose
What point are you trying to make?

@@zachflag6506 It was less a point and more a genuine question of whether he intended on naming his crime-fighting group “Racism,” cuz with the with the subsequent BLM movement and the tendency of society to criminalize black people for behavior otherwise harmless (e.g. calling the police on a black person waiting for their friend at a Starbucks), if he intended it to imply they would fight racism I kind of would be down for that, especially since they had body cams to prove their altruistic intentions. I mean, the group disbanded so I guess it doesn’t matter now; I was honestly just curious. 😅
I actually really love this concept, I'm sad it fell apart so quickly :(
I was about to start a j aubrey marathon and he decided to make it half an hour longer. God bless 🙏
I’ve partied with this dude at a UW party and he’s the coolest dude I ever met forreal
Probably the most terrifying part of all of this is that a “villain” figure or even terroist group could’ve risen up to try to defeat him. That could’ve been disastrous.
Bro, love the WINDOWS instrumental in the background in some parts. A documentary on BROCKHAMPTON could be sick!
every time he says his name, my mind fills it in as its Peta Jones.
I live in Seattle and I've somehow managed to have seen Purple Reign in public a few times. One day I walked outside my apartment in the middle of the night and I just saw a woman dressed in an all-purple superhero outfit waltzing around. I was perplexed on if it was just a fashion statement or if Comicon just so happened to be coming up.
Thank you for another 5 hours of watch time. Not even joking, I've watched the Kanye and Tyler vids like 10 times this past week. Keep up with these videos man.
15:57 OH SNAP! Not the sombrero and Nacho Libre mask! hahahaha!!!
This was so well made I didn’t know any of these facts about Phoenix Jones wow
This video is more fun than watching a movie. I mean this is the craziest story I ever heard, and the video maker should have half the credit.
The UA-camr Comic Tropes did a video admitting he was one of these heroes that worked with Phoenix called Omega so check that out if you can
Love your videos and their edits. You make your own music though? Next level stuff!!

I knew PJ. I looked up to him for a while. I spoke with him many times, and considered him a friend. I doubt he even remembers me now tho. I hope so much that he rally can make amends and become the hero he once said he would be, but I'm not holding my breath anymore....
I haven't been following Phoenix since he formed his team, but this is sad.
There's a reason batman didn't talk to the media and marketed himself; he could've turned himself into a symbol but instead he ended up like the show the boys predicted
