For some reason, absolutely not related to mistakenly refueling with gasoline, I have to prime the D5 on my 2005 XC90, and your video helped me to locate the low pressure pump. Thanks for the help!

Absolutely Brilliant well done but I actually thought it might be a camshaft sensor in the beginning hats off to you keep up the good work son .

Nice short video but a wealth of detail. Many thanks.

I've just done a leak back test on my 2006 V70 D5 (185 hp) due to it cranking over a few to many times before it starts. I followed your video but once the engine was running for a minute i noticed a puddle of fuel on the floor. On further inspection I have fuel coming out of the leak back pipes and hardly any out of the top of the injectors which i guess is a good thing.
I know it's difficult to diagnose but would you say the my high pressure fuel pump is at fault?
I carried out this test on my wifes old 2002 S60 D5 without any fuel leaks from the leak back pipes.
    Many thanks.

If you have a diagnostics tool you could try reading rail pressure before starting the car, it may be leaking out of the injectors overnight which I suspect mine are doing. Mine is slow to start and that’s what I think is causing it but I can’t justify new injectors right now.

Can a symptom of it be that the car stalls on the run at 60-80 mph. Then I restart it and it runs fine for a long time again.

Thanks for this, I think I need to do the same thing on my car, although I have different symptoms.
The live data reads the pressure rising to 55 kPa and then immediately starts falling off over the next few seconds. And the engine doesn't start, obviously.

Could it be that the lift pump isn't working properly so the high pressure pump doesn't have enough fuel to work with?

That is a possibility. For me the high pressure pump may not actually have been at fault I believe it was the pressure regulator on the pump.

Did u have metal chips in the fuel filter?Or how did u know to replace that high pressure pump?

I just had no high pressure fuel. It probably wasn’t the pump that had failed, probably just the regulator.

@@IAMASPANNERI have the same faults ECM-2505 and ECM-2503, changed the regulator but now the car starts but cuts off after a mile or so. I use the Autel Maxicom 808, do I have to tell the car that I got a new regulator in?

Your problem was only fuel pressure sensor, not all fuel pump

Where is the sensor? I replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator but now the car cuts off after roughly a mile and goes into limp mode almost immediately. I got the fault codes ECM-2505 (permanent) and ECM-2503 (intermittent).

One on fuel pump and 2x on fuel rail
