I’ve seen this more times than I can count and I still cry with him. Such emotion, no director could possibly pull out of an actor. He is his own person with his own feelings and emotions and gives so much of himself in his work. We are all blessed to be witness and to receive this gift.

We knew you would love it and your reaction was spot on! I have seen this as a stage musical 3 times over the years and this is by far the best rendition I've ever heard. His portrayal, as you say, with his hand gestures and facial expressions, well all round acting prowess, know no bounds - he's an artist you not only have to listen to but watch too. If Andrew Lloyd Webber had ever persuaded him to do the stage version it would have been nigh on impossible to get a ticket that's for sure but I would have paid good money to see it. Outstanding!

The reality is enhanced by the lack of the visible microphone that we’ve come to expect. I am in no doubt as well that Dan would be successful on Broadway, or on any stage. I guess the question is whether he would be willing and able to submit to the authority of a Director? Theatre is a collaborative process. Dan has always remained in complete control of his performance and career. I'm not even suggesting that he needs direction, only that it would be expected of him. 🤷♀️
I very much doubt he would either - he likes complete autonomy (there's reference to this on his site going back some years when he was talking to a record label but decided against it as he didn't like what they were proposing and quite frankly he seems to be doing just fine without one!)

Gethsemane is a historical event as well as a Garden in Judea. it takes place between the last supper and the trials leading to the crucifixion. Jesus asked God to take the cup from him and Tim Rice took some artistic license. This is the best cover of this I have seen, and I have seen dozens. Very nice review,
Isn't it sad how he found his followers sleeping instead of praying like he had asked. He knew he had to follow through with the plan to be the final sacrifice, but prayerful friends may have lessened the suffering or something.

This is top 5 versions for me no doubt and the others are all super famous musical theatre stars that he holds his own against. Also you have to do Make a Man Out Of You from Mulan- it’s so much fun!

Dan, version of this is so powerful, that I feel physical and emotional pain when I watch it. It takes me a while to recover. Glad you got to see this. Dan has left all his videos on his site that were done from when he started on you tube. Some of them he has redone about 6 years later and it is very interesting tonsee the progression of his skill, especially breath control and just the rounding of rough edges with training ( he has designed to keep his body heathy because the vocal cords are part of the body. And their health is affected by how healthy his body is. He doesn't eat processed foods,.He eats meat, eggs, vegetables and whole grains. He has an exercise routine, because his body is part of the performance. Singing full out, the way he does, requires a very athletic body. His self mastery, is probably like or better than someone -training for an olympic gold metal.

I'm not a christian, and I've only ever watched the The Jesus Christ Superstar musical once in my entire life, back when it was released, and it didn't move me then, and never cared to watch it since. But actually, I'd definitely watch it, all the way through, if Dan was playing the lead role. He does this so convincingly, both vocally and physically acting out the role. Like you say, he does this as if he's actually on a broadway stage, and not in his own garage.
