I wonder if they had one way intake valves so the air can't escape when it's erected. So if the blower motors stop working the booth doesn't deflate like it did.

PVC conduit rigid pipe inside to act as a frame so if it deflates, it won't collapse onto your painted stuff. You can take it apart afterwards for storage.

Hi D W, I had a body shop years ago and had a guy bring me a Ferrari replica he was building. He had it painted at another shop. He got it home and covered it with a plastic sheet to keep it clean. The plastic stuck to the paint because it will gives off gases from the solvent for some time. I had to strip the car completely. It was not an easy job with the plastic stuck to it.

I did something similar inside my garage, but it would work outside as well. Just threw together a frame of 2x3's and stapled clear plastic over it. Used 4 standard filters from a hot air furnace in the front door and created an exhaust system on the rear with 1x3's to create a duct to an exhaust fan. Worked very well. Painted a whole car. No problems at all. Used a fresh air system instead of a filter mask. I was a professional auto body painter for 5 years so the results basically come from knowledge and practice. You really just need a clean dust free environment and a nice day. No wind and no high humidity. This tent is cool, but expensive. Mine cost $250 approximately.
You're supposed to go in the small rooms first. It's essentially an airlock. Go in the door, close it behind you. Open the door into the painting area and close it behind you. Reduces bugs and debris in the painting area. Sometimes opening a door can disturb debris on the ground or in the are around the door.
@@nataliaattree133 The big door is only used to get the car in and out. If the car is in the booth with fresh paint on it and fume extractor running, opening that big door will create a huge, unfiltered vacuum source and suck tons of debris in and onto the car's wet paint.
If you do your own body repairs and paint, it will pay for itself. As a auto body painter for decades, I strongly recommend putting on a white Tyvek suit. This way you keep any dust and particles from clothing and hair contained. Over all for the money it works well. I hooked up a vacuum to it and it rolled up nice and tight and I built a wooden box and in it goes. Thanks for the video!
Very cool.. a couple tips .. spray the initial coat super light to create a nice tacky surface. Try and complete a complete pass across the object each pass, do not criss-cross or do back-and-forth in small areas. You will find you get a much better finish and less runs if you do these simple steps. :)
Sound advice you have there. I don't personally have noteworthy experience with a spary gun, but that's basically what I do with rattle cans, and it works well. I do someitmes criss-cross (if needed), but not like he did (long strokes, instead of his typical rattle can short stroke method). Of course before that you have to do proper prep work, and not have any surface imperfections that would pop out once you add clearcoat.
My experience with bounce houses and inflatable pools is that usually blowers(good ones at least) have in and out blowing. If you put them in reverse they will suck all the air out of the booth and it'll make it easier to fold, plus you don't have to wait forever for it to deflate. Try that out, hopefully it works.
Sam, you need bigger ground stakes to keep that safe. Look for bouncy house ground 18" Steel Hook Stakes...did a quick search and found the 18" ones for $5 each.
There’s also a 2000 lb vehicle that’s inside . But yeah for those few minutes before and after, there really should be some extra tie downs but mostly from the top to secure from swaying.
Think about putting plastic wrap over the windows. Cleaning them with any effective cleaner is just as likely to make them cloudy as painting them. Which you will do eventually. Removing the plastic wrap ... just a few seconds and voila, clean windows.
as someone with experience in the ammusements industry, I can tell you that to properly pack a large inflatable requires multiple people. you pull the inflatable as flat and even as possible on the end farthest from the air inlet, fold it over about one foot and step on it all the way across. repeat the fold and step process all the way to the inlet and it should be as flat as you can get it, then fold/roll the resultant roll till it fits in the bag. I bought the same one and painted my third gen Firebird last year. Got it back in the bag and now a family member is painting their car this spring. I love this booth works great. I put both blowers on different fuses. My 60gal compressor has its own circuit as well. Never popped a fuse. You fold it by folding over each side while forcing out the air. Then roll it from back to front. It's not that difficult. Just requires patients.
I had one of those for work. Just make sure that you put paper on the floor and before you spray and it will stay much cleaner

How about just use those big rolls of plastic sheeting? It may have been the 10 ft. x 25 ft. Clear 3.5 mil Plastic Sheeting that I used. I don't remember the exact specs of the sheeting. But when I worked in construction building house foundations, we used the sheeting in the winter to cover our fresh concrete pours. And then I have been buying it for different things at home.
Sam, get Google Translate Mobile for your phone. It not only translates what you take a picture of, but I believe it removes the original text and replaces it with the translation. Real cool trick.
A little tip from someone who used to run bounce houses for parties back in the day. Some fans have the ability to hook up the inflating sleeves to the intake side of the fan. If you do this, you can suck the excess air straight out and have it completely flat in just a few minutes.
You should get some horse stall mats to line the floor, it would be more comfortable and even to walk on and it would protect the floor when you drive in or if you dropped something in there
Bonus, keep a horse to stand on the mats. If you don’t finish the car, ride the horse to work Monday. If you do, Monday night is steak nite for you and about a hundred friends.
or use guide ropes via some d-rings that any doofus would have specified to be integrated in a custom build like this. this guy is beyond doofus level though.

I bought the same one but I don’t have a inflator so I had to blow it up the old fashioned away .. I’ve been at it for years... and I’ve lost a whole Lung.
When deflating those bounce houses they have reversible fans that suck the air out of em. Even an old shop vac could help. Once again with an air line fitting that would also help you could use a foot pump and pump the air out like that as well.
I have an idea of course someone may have already said this I don't quite feel like searching the comments though but as an insurance if you're painting a car I would go out and buy some three-quarter inch PVC piping and slip together a frame that you can push against the walls and semi attach it that way if you lose air the system won't come crashing down on your freshly painted cars or parts....would be very simple to build basically a PVC box inside of it that way you can cut the air and let the thing droop down on it without damaging your work.... but don't permanently glue your PVC piping just slip fit everything together
100$ for 1,000 square feet of strong poly..same thing marijuana growers use for grow rooms. then like 30-50$ in wood and you have a paint booth. and plenty of poly... can make it so you can take it down and reuse it too.

It was something I had thought of immediately after he erected the booth. It's what I would do... Great minds think alike.
Use a shop vac to finish deflating prior to folding up. We do this to pack helicopter emergency floats which pack into a tight envelop when not deployed.
As a highschool student who is a major in paint and refinishing it’s crazy to see how much school actually helps, it’s sweet to see someone learning how to do such a thing but I find things like making sure the piece is clean and prepped flawlessly as second nature, makes me thankful to be in the school I’m in
When you take it down, make sure it is completely dry and then invert the blowers. They suck out all the air. It works for bounce houses. It should work for that too.

and only real fail though is the car entry....you should just have to unzip it to 8' and then roll it up. Shouldn't have to need a ladder to undo it. In fact, they could probably have just put velcro down the sides and left the top attached.
that segregated room in the back seems like it would be a very effective airlock of sorts for keeping the interior dust-free once you've actually started painting.

In about 2 minutes I can turn that blower around, duct tape a cardboard plenum to keep it from collapsing, and pull a vacuum on the whole plastic rig. He didn't mention having solved that issue, so I offered. What is your issue,,,,,,,,,,,,,,?
Samcrac, IMHO what you need to work on now is your spray technique when you paint. How far to hold the spray head from the work surface, how to adjust the spray for the smoothest paint flow, etc. The hardest thing for me to master when I started painting cars was to have patience and not spray the paint on too heavy and get runs in it (like the ones you showed). Always spray the longer length of panels like those bumpers. As you make your spray pass, start beyond the end of the bumper about 8" and spray down the length of the bumper plus about another 8" past the other end before you release the trigger. Never start your spray somewhere on the panel, always start and stop your pass off of the panel. Practice with primer and then work your way into your color coats and clear coat. When I was a teenager I used to go to the dealerships body shop after school and sweep up for the guys, clean their paint guns & stuff and they would stay a couple of hours once or twice a week and teach me how to weld emblem holes, do hammer welding, mix body plastic the right way, mix paint correctly, blend panels and lastly how to paint an entire car in just an hour or so with a perfect smooth and even finish. I probably spent 40-60 hours learning and practicing and I was capable of doing professional work on my own cars.I think it would be worth your time to find a body shop that would let you help them/practice a little as they teach you the tricks of the trade. With that spray boot and some good prep/painting techniques you are going to be able to do some impressive repairs and even complete repaints that won't break your budget! Will be watching you! Oh yeah, PROTECT YOUR LUNGS MAN! You only get one pair and they need to last you a long time....
Spraying 8" past either end is kind of wasting paint, spraying it in the air. Also, if you have to start beyond the end and end beyond the end, what do you do when you spray the side of a car? Do you run from one end to the other with each stroke?
Sam, hook up your shop vacuum to the structure inflation ports first thereby knocking down the booth. Then apply vacuum to the fresh air input port. That should take it down to foldable. In the bag it goes.
Fold it and roll it toward the end with the hole in. Then use ratchet straps to hold it together. I used to do this every weekend with bouncy houses and inflatable race tracks.
Why not much room? Unlike a solid structure, you can press your back into the entire structure to create more room. Also the windows are offset giving you additional space. What a great idea!! Unfortunately, I have no use for it.

That's why you have a plan B. PVC pipe inside to hold it in place or some rope on the outside to hold it in place. Just in case breaker pops or power goes out

Make sure to test the plastic and internal air for possible surface static buildup. If static does become an issue you might have dust and paint spray problems. At the very worst, you might have an explosion hazard from the paint air mixture being ignited by a static spark. If it is an issue you can have the interior lightly premisted or have a humidifier set as high as the paint conditions allow. You can also run a grounding wire from your spray gun.

The guy Sam has a garage with the garage door; hang 2 box fans above the garage door to suck the fumes and over-spray paint out. I did tnis when I painted my Mustang years ago - came out fantastic and had three colors and clear coat too!
Nice thing actually!But use the small room when you enter the spray area, not a good idea to keep open up to the outside all the time.I think reversing the fan when deflating the thing would make it a lot quicker and completely empty it out, although getting it back in to the small bag probably won't happen anyway =)Manufacturer and cost?

Anon 4425 it wouldnt take much space, would keep it from collapsing and moving in the wind, the blower would still keep the nice and blowed out... as well as moving fresh air.
If you spray flex seal over the air tubes and what not so it does not leak air you could just blow it up and then leave it but the PVC pipe on the inside is Also a great idea and I would not.mind having this for even a camping tent for me and my kids so they can have a area to pay in and run around if it rains and what not and just put our tent next to it so we have sleeping area and a collapsible table and chairs and bam indoors mess hall bug free

Two things that would be a nice feature for this booth. One, is a way to shut those blowers down and booth still be inflated. Two, a way of reversing the blowers to draw all the air out of the booth. If it does have those two options, I sure didn't notice it.
Tie a stick to that front zipper. Why are you climbing around on ladders to get the door opened and shut? Run PVC pipe across the booth, and tie them to the D-rings. That will give you additional support, and a place to hang light objects. Use lights on stands... Don't tie a hot a$$ light to a D-ring, it will melt a hole in the plastic support.
I mean, it certainly should have an easier life than a similarly built bouncy castle , i've seen multiple adults jumping in one at once before, that's gotta put a lot of stress on the seams but they last year after year under commercial and rental use...
T[o deflate it try hooking the inlet of the fan to the inlet of the booth use the fan as a vacuum. also are there any hooks on the outside? if so you could make a outer frame of pvc pipe or wood that way if you loose power again in doesn't collapse on your project..

What I did for painting outside on many cars that I done and was told many years ago is to add a little liquid off to the paint before you spray it.. works great without any problems at all
Pretty cool idea 👍.. But imo the filters are not under vaccum so they aren't filtering anything coming in bubba..it's probably carbon impregnated filter material to capture volatile organics going out into the atmosphere..If you have fresh air blowing in it's under positive pressure and forcing air out..
The air goes into the booth through the side by side filters and exits on the 2 filters opposite each other, that's how spray booths work, clean air in through filters and dirty air has to go out through filters because it's "better for the environment"

A little tip from someone who used to run bounce houses for parties back in the day. Some fans have the ability to hook up the inflating sleeves to the intake side of the fan. If you do this, you can suck the excess air straight out and have it completely flat in just a few minutes.

You should get some horse stall mats to line the floor, it would be more comfortable and even to walk on and it would protect the floor when you drive in or if you dropped something in there
And horse mats would help weigh it down so it won't blow away if a gust comes along while it's empty.
Bonus, keep a horse to stand on the mats. If you don’t finish the car, ride the horse to work Monday. If you do, Monday night is steak nite for you and about a hundred friends.

J Blob No but one of the Model 3 assembly lines is in a massive tent like structure outside.
When deflating those bounce houses they have reversible fans that suck the air out of em. Even an old shop vac could help. Once again with an air line fitting that would also help you could use a foot pump and pump the air out like that as well.
I have an idea of course someone may have already said this I don't quite feel like searching the comments though but as an insurance if you're painting a car I would go out and buy some three-quarter inch PVC piping and slip together a frame that you can push against the walls and semi attach it that way if you lose air the system won't come crashing down on your freshly painted cars or parts....would be very simple to build basically a PVC box inside of it that way you can cut the air and let the thing droop down on it without damaging your work.... but don't permanently glue your PVC piping just slip fit everything together
100$ for 1,000 square feet of strong poly..same thing marijuana growers use for grow rooms. then like 30-50$ in wood and you have a paint booth. and plenty of poly... can make it so you can take it down and reuse it too.

Use a shop vac to finish deflating prior to folding up. We do this to pack helicopter emergency floats which pack into a tight envelop when not deployed.
same works for large inflatable toys or blow up mattress. Saves a lot of frustration.

As a highschool student who is a major in paint and refinishing it’s crazy to see how much school actually helps, it’s sweet to see someone learning how to do such a thing but I find things like making sure the piece is clean and prepped flawlessly as second nature, makes me thankful to be in the school I’m in
When you take it down, make sure it is completely dry and then invert the blowers. They suck out all the air. It works for bounce houses. It should work for that too.

In about 2 minutes I can turn that blower around, duct tape a cardboard plenum to keep it from collapsing, and pull a vacuum on the whole plastic rig. He didn't mention having solved that issue, so I offered. What is your issue,,,,,,,,,,,,,,?

Samcrac, IMHO what you need to work on now is your spray technique when you paint. How far to hold the spray head from the work surface, how to adjust the spray for the smoothest paint flow, etc. The hardest thing for me to master when I started painting cars was to have patience and not spray the paint on too heavy and get runs in it (like the ones you showed). Always spray the longer length of panels like those bumpers. As you make your spray pass, start beyond the end of the bumper about 8" and spray down the length of the bumper plus about another 8" past the other end before you release the trigger. Never start your spray somewhere on the panel, always start and stop your pass off of the panel. Practice with primer and then work your way into your color coats and clear coat.
When I was a teenager I used to go to the dealerships body shop after school and sweep up for the guys, clean their paint guns & stuff and they would stay a couple of hours once or twice a week and teach me how to weld emblem holes, do hammer welding, mix body plastic the right way, mix paint correctly, blend panels and lastly how to paint an entire car in just an hour or so with a perfect smooth and even finish. I probably spent 40-60 hours learning and practicing and I was capable of doing professional work on my own cars.I think it would be worth your time to find a body shop that would let you help them/practice a little as they teach you the tricks of the trade. With that spray boot and some good prep/painting techniques you are going to be able to do some impressive repairs and even complete repaints that won't break your budget! Will be watching you! Oh yeah, PROTECT YOUR LUNGS MAN! You only get one pair and they need to last you a long time....

Spraying 8" past either end is kind of wasting paint, spraying it in the air. Also, if you have to start beyond the end and end beyond the end, what do you do when you spray the side of a car? Do you run from one end to the other with each stroke?

Sam, hook up your shop vacuum to the structure inflation ports first thereby knocking down the booth. Then apply vacuum to the fresh air input port. That should take it down to foldable. In the bag it goes.
or maybe the fans could be wired to reverse.. thereby creating a vacuum.

Why not much room? Unlike a solid structure, you can press your back into the entire structure to create more room. Also the windows are offset giving you additional space. What a great idea!! Unfortunately, I have no use for it.
Suck it flat by reversing your blower. Set the blower in the opening and let them flatten the thing out for you.

Make sure to test the plastic and internal air for possible surface static buildup. If static does become an issue you might have dust and paint spray problems. At the very worst, you might have an explosion hazard from the paint air mixture being ignited by a static spark. If it is an issue you can have the interior lightly premisted or have a humidifier set as high as the paint conditions allow. You can also run a grounding wire from your spray gun.

The guy Sam has a garage with the garage door; hang 2 box fans above the garage door to suck the fumes and over-spray paint out. I did tnis when I painted my Mustang years ago - came out fantastic and had three colors and clear coat too!

If you spray flex seal over the air tubes and what not so it does not leak air you could just blow it up and then leave it but the PVC pipe on the inside is Also a great idea and I would not.mind having this for even a camping tent for me and my kids so they can have a area to pay in and run around if it rains and what not and just put our tent next to it so we have sleeping area and a collapsible table and chairs and bam indoors mess hall bug free

With pvc frame and some cellophane sheets you can make you own bug proof or dust proof chamber for under $200 or cheaper depending on size.

Two things that would be a nice feature for this booth. One, is a way to shut those blowers down and booth still be inflated. Two, a way of reversing the blowers to draw all the air out of the booth. If it does have those two options, I sure didn't notice it.
I would say you’re probably supposed to enter from the rear. That small room is probably intended to be a buffer zone.

Tie a stick to that front zipper. Why are you climbing around on ladders to get the door opened and shut? Run PVC pipe across the booth, and tie them to the D-rings. That will give you additional support, and a place to hang light objects. Use lights on stands... Don't tie a hot a$$ light to a D-ring, it will melt a hole in the plastic support.

T[o deflate it try hooking the inlet of the fan to the inlet of the booth use the fan as a vacuum. also are there any hooks on the outside? if so you could make a outer frame of pvc pipe or wood that way if you loose power again in doesn't collapse on your project..

What I did for painting outside on many cars that I done and was told many years ago is to add a little liquid off to the paint before you spray it.. works great without any problems at all

But imo the filters are not under vaccum so they aren't filtering anything coming in bubba..it's probably carbon impregnated filter material to capture volatile organics going out into the atmosphere..If you have fresh air blowing in it's under positive pressure and forcing air out..

The air goes into the booth through the side by side filters and exits on the 2 filters opposite each other, that's how spray booths work, clean air in through filters and dirty air has to go out through filters because it's "better for the environment"
Forced air units work under the same principal, they filter particulates fairly decent.
If you are hanging lights make sure its LEDs so you don't melt a whole in your China fun house
