Spearfishing Norway, April 2023

This year's season started with six spearfishing trips in the Molde area over three weeks in April. My aiming needed some calibration after a long winter on land, but after a couple of bad shots it was set.
The catch was a good number of Atlantic Cod, a couple of Pollock and some nice video of Atlantic Wolf-fish and Thornback Ray.

Hunting technique depends on which fish you are hunting. The Pollock can be very difficult to sneak up on, so you have to wait patiently in ambush.
But as you point out, the Cod is relatively easy to get close to as long as you are quiet and calm in your movements.
And yes; both Pollock and Cod taste excellent 👌

The Wolffish tastes really good, but I don't take them very often. The reason is that the Wolf helps keeping the population of sea urchins down, and as we know urchins eat away at the kelp forest. So I prefer cod and pollock which are also good food.
