Thankyou very much for your most interesting church yard commentary very clear information I dont know what you l look like buy I'm sure you are a really nice guy will certainly follow your weight thankyou 😍
you are correct. The rather grand memorial with the man lying under the arch is the Raikes memorial. Henry Raikes was a very important person in the Church in Chester. The odd thing is; this is not actually his Grave. the grave itself is a few yards away under a flat grave. The little girls grave with the flowers around it is MABLE FRANCIS IRELAND BLACKBORNE AKA 'the chewing gum girl' Long ago a sign was put near here grave which loosely read 'chewing gum chewing gum made of wax put me in my grave at last'. The story goes that Children used to use a skipping rope and sing the chewing gum song. It is not known why the sign was put there, or who put it there because Mable died of Whooping cough. Another interesting fact...Little Mable's mum and dad are buried in the grave next to her.
Thank you for showing me around this cemetery, I live only 5 minutes away from it❤️👍
