LMFAO!! Hello Clarice!! you are living on the edge... cannibal style! If I didn't know better I would have said that you had too much Raki before you tried it! hahaha, great video to entertain us!
Patrick , when I was a little boy about 6 or 7 years old your Grandma and Great Grandma got together for an old time special treat for lunch . I remember coming up stairs on Whitney Street in Roch. and I could smell something cooking that was strange (my mom was a wonderful cook). I walked into the kitchen to see Mom lifting a lamb /goat head from the pot and it scared the heck out of me . The smile on it's face was very weird. It wasn't until I saw your video that humor entered that memory . Thanks for the laughs this beats any video I've seen all year. PS I sent this to the rest of the family . Uncle G---
🤣🤣🤣I've never screamed so many times while watching a UA-cam video. Good for you for trying, but as a foreigner I can understand how hard this must've been! From what I understand, these parts are very healthy of you!
Patrick, I had to write you a second time to express my admiration for you, as a great ambassador for our country. In fact, this thing with the head and the eyeball took me back to a memory of one of my heroes (as well as a fellow soldier colleague of yours) - General H.Norman Schwarzkopf, Jr. Many years ago, he wrote his autobiography - "It Doesn't Take A Hero" and described his early life with his father - Major General H.Norman Schwarzkopf, Sr. The elder Schwarzkopf had an incredible career, both in and out of the service. (Interesting Side Note: After his first stint in the service, he became the head of the NJ State Police and was in charge of the investigation of the Lindbergh kidnapping.) In his later military career, he was instrumental in establishing U.S. military relations in the Middle East and he would often bring his son, Norman, Jr with him to various functions. It was at one of these functions - a traditional Arab Bedouin feast that the host paid tribute to the son of the General by offering him the most prized part of the roasted sheep - the eyeball. In horror, the junior Norman whispered to the senior Norman something like "Dad...I can't eat that!" To which the General whispered back something like "Son...you WILL EAT THAT!" Young Norman choked back his nausea and ate the eyeball. Later, his dad told him that he was proud of him and that he had done something very good for his country by honoring the traditions of their foreign hosts. History shows us that Norman Jr. would go onto continue this tradition as a good ambassador. So, great job, soldier! You've lived up to the principles you set for yourself, since the beginning of your and April's adventure in Albania. In the eyes of your Albanian hosts, you've shown respect and open mindedness for their culture. I'm personally grateful to have you there representing us. Thanks.
@@patrickoverseas Dude, you did something even better than eating and liking it. You tried it with an open mind and an open heart. That is more than enough. By itself, this demonstrates respect and appreciation for your Albanian friends and their culture. (I have a hunch that many of them will appreciate that.) Besides...would you feel ill towards them if they didn't like the Big Mac...or Jello...or grits? LOL
OMG!!!!!! This has got to be one of the funniest videos I have seen in a while, I was literally crying. Watching your face trying to eat the brain and then spitting it out had me rolling. Thanks for making what could be a very grim day for the United States a laughable moment.
Your facial expressions and comments are hilarious! Literally tears in my eyes from laughing. I am such a wimp I am covering my eyes the majority of the video as the eyeballs and skull are creeping me out! You are brave and I love that you shared this and tried it. Love hearing April laugh 😄. - Annette
Sitting here eating my dinner and came across this!!!! Laughed my butt off. I am an adventurist eater and will try anything. I find that most times what people find difficult is texture. I have friends that can’t eat mushrooms because of the texture. It’s what you can tolerate , don’t feel bad because you were not able to enjoy what the locals enjoy . Sometimes you just got to pass. Although I do like a good brain every now and then. All jokes aside, I have been watching your videos for several weeks now and have enjoyed them thoroughly. Keep up the post , Albania is such an interesting country.
😂😂😂😂 I’m not laughing at you, I’m laughing with you. You are a brave man and i appreciate you open-mindedness. My last girlfriend is Taiwanese. She introduced me to a lot of new foods and tastes: pork brains in hot pot(very good) Live Shrimp and by live I mean it jumped off the plate before we at it. I picked it up and put it back in the plate and then ate it. It was the best shrimp I’ve ever had. Also stinky tofu and durian fruit. Bravo my friend. I’ll be a little suspicious if you invite me to dinner after I arrive.
Your Presentation is awsome, hilarious, my wife likes to cook them but not a fan of eating it either, especially the eyeballs, her brother's family likes the head, so it always goes to them, she was cringing as much as you over the eyeball thing....
Thank you ! I was hoping id like it. It was a cross between the texture, mental block, and just so different to me, Thank you so much for your comment !
I knew several butchers in Germany, who in them olden days came to people's homes to butcher pigs for a couple of families. For the "butcher's meal" they usually asked to have cheek and snout. These parts were their faves. Just sayin'.
LMAO...Well, I guess I should just move there. I grew up eating both lamb, pig and calf head. Roasted is better than boiled in my view of it, but I like both depending on how it is prepared and I'm particular to the method as I have made all three...Grandma always said the only thing left should be an "oink", "moo" or "bleat"...all else gets eaten and/or used...P.S. for readers, yes the "eyes" are quite tasty if you are raised eating such things, as the "aqueous humour" has a distinct taste when solidified from cooking...I do have to share, that this lambs head, from my experience and way to prepare it, was way too chewy and tough. The meat should be well glazed with seasoning (depending on tradition and recipe of culture), tender, and quite flavorful. Each part has its own texture and flavor. Eating it properly is a matter of different traditions, the eye goes well with a slice of tomato, pepper, and/or seasoned grape leaf. The brain on a fresh slice of toasted bread, with garlic "fat butter", and the meat is just a delicacy with each one a different experience from cheek to tongue...The part that often fall out of a "split" is the back of the brain (technically the pons, brainstem or "medulla", arbor vitae of the cerebellum)...All in all, you did well for your first time and without proper instruction and a C+ to C preparation of the head...I'm sure purchasing one from a butcher is very inexpensive there. I hope someday I would get to prepare one for you properly...Excellent video as always!!!
So funny, especially the admonition not to turn away LOLOL! And you get an A for trying! Peoples in all cultures traditionally ate the organ meats of the animals they killed for food because they are very very nutritious, but maybe start with something that doesn't stare back, like the liver? 🙂
You are missing the Rakia friend. Next time spread the brain on toast and go for it. For the eye..ONLY the white part is eaten. Not bad for 1st try. We have a saying “The lamb, chicken fish and wife are touched with hands” meaning no knife or fork needed 😁
Patrick, Albania is not the only country that eats sheep's head. If you were to visit Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia, you would be given the sheep's head as a sign of respect for being an honored guest. Ask me how I know this...😁 Please don't feel bad about not eating the sheep's head, eyes, etc. It is not something most Americans can handle me included. You gave it the old college try!
Thank you ! yes many nations do. Im hoping to try again someday. It was just so foreign to me. My loss. I hope to be opened minded to all things. Thank you for comment.
OK Patrick. There is something called practice. Perhaps you should have had an Albanian for dinner. What would Hannibal have said about that? Is this an item served in fine restaurants? Albanian name? You will have nightsheep now. A herd of sheep will visit you and lick your eyeball.
Yuck! 🤮. I wish I was a more adventurous eater and I love how many cultures don’t waste anything. You are brave! Great video as always and entertaining 🤣. - Annette

That was a big fail. I don't eat the brain and the eye. Your can't eat the eye anyhow, it has a tough soft shell, you're suppose to crush it with your molars and suck the juice. That's why I don't eat it. But the the tongue and the fat in the eye socket are the best testing parts. Very weak my man, very weak, threw away some good stuff.
