    external temp sensors could be useful to monitor your fridge/freezer temps

    • @TrailBendersOverland
      @TrailBendersOverland  3 роки тому

      Totally! Depending on what fridge ends up in the gladiator we may drill and install a temp probe in the fridge. Some fridges work with Bluetooth as well so we could use that to remotely check. But it’d be awesome to have it integrated into RedVision.

    Great video. Question though. Why an 80 amp fuses at the manager 30 and a 60 amp at the battery? Doesn’t that limit the whole system to the manager 30 to 60 amps?

    Hello gentlemen, great installation video. Few Questions, will you be able to run 30amp sure hook up? Also how many watts of solar panels can you hook up to the input

    • @TrailBendersOverland
      @TrailBendersOverland  3 роки тому

      Yes, you can run 30amp shore power. As for solar panels, the manager 30 caps at 30amps so depending on your solar panels, I'm assuming you could run several but I think most of the smaller and portable panels have a limit as to how many you can connect. I think that's going to depend on the type of panel you're using.

    Great video! Lost count of how many times I watched it to help my install on my 2021 Rebel Ecodiesel. Curious if you guys had any TVMS Output Fault right on startup. Similar to your video, fuse lights lit up, temp probe works, my shore power works, solar etc. but that fault came out of nowhere on initial startup. Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting?

    • @TrailBendersOverland
      @TrailBendersOverland  3 роки тому

      Yes, we also had that fault and it didn't go away until you go in the set up app and disconnect all of the terminals you aren't using. Basically you need to make them "dead" leads so the "brains" don't think they should be live. We had to call REDARC to figure that out. Simple fix and the actual "fault" really isn't a fault and everything should be working fine. Just annoying.

    I thought with the redivision system you can now eliminate the bus bar wire clutters, I thought that’s the whole purpose of the Redvision system, to directly connect everything to the system… or am I wrong?

    Out of curiosity, why did you decide to use the bus bars instead of connecting negative directly to the Redvision?

    • @TrailBendersOverland
      @TrailBendersOverland  3 роки тому +2

      It was a recommendation we got from one of the head REDARC engineers. He said you can go straight into the RedVision but it’s a better quality ground to bypass it. I’ll need to reach out about it again so I can give a more detailed answer of exactly why that’s the case.

    Curious to hear why you've placed the RedVision display unit directly in your line of sight when you really won't need to access the panel that much?! Seems like a waste of space where you could place a mapping computer or radio even? Unsure on the differences from the JK to the JL but I've placed my unit off to the side from the steering wheel.

    • @TrailBendersOverland
      @TrailBendersOverland  3 роки тому

      There wasn’t really a great spot to mount it and we don’t do much mapping in the gladiator. We also knew that we could always use that mount for an iPad later and get a new mount for the red vision panel.

  • @ii1825
    @ii1825 3 роки тому

    That's nice and all but it's over $2k without the LifePo battery correct? Way too rich for my blood. Think I'll go with the BCDC1225D. A couple of other observations after seeing the entire video. That's a lot of coin sitting unsecured in the bed of that Gladiator. Did not see any battery hold down either. That battery does not weigh as much as a lead acid battery but it will still bounce around especially if that rig sees trail use. I would have put a lockable metal door on it. With the remote display why do you need to be able to see inside?

    • @TrailBendersOverland
      @TrailBendersOverland  3 роки тому

      Good questions! We’re actually not finished with the box yet, this video was more about booking up the RedVision and electrical system vs showing how someone should mount the gear. We have a video about the storage system coming out once the whole thing is finished. The plexiglass is for 2 things, it makes it easy to see fuses if any were to blow, and honestly.. it looks cool lol when we go to shows it’ll be easier to show off the system that way too. A lockable metal door is a great idea 👍 we also have security features we haven’t talked about yet.

    • @TrailBendersOverland
      @TrailBendersOverland  3 роки тому

      1225 is a great charger. That’s what’s in our RAM 1500. The RedVision is great if you’re looking for a super smart relay system that’s totally integrated into the power management. If you’re looking into lithium batteries, BCDC, and something like an S-Pod.. then it worth going for the RedVision. It allows lots of room for growth.

    What does the load mean on the manager 30? You didn’t use that slot in the terminal

    • @TrailBendersOverland
      @TrailBendersOverland  3 роки тому +1

      At 9:20 I mention hooking up the load positive. The load terminal is for your auxiliary battery, or RedVision in the case.

    • @XvTOASTvX
      @XvTOASTvX 3 роки тому

      @@TrailBendersOverland so I don’t actually need to connect anything into the load terminal only the load positive and load negative

    • @TrailBendersOverland
      @TrailBendersOverland  3 роки тому

      @@XvTOASTvX I'm confused by your question. The load terminal is part of the green plug on the Manager 30. A negative cable from the plug to ground and a positive cable from the green plug to the Red Vision. What you connect to it is either an auxiliary batter or the RedVision.

    • @shaunsmithaus
      @shaunsmithaus 3 роки тому

      "Load" according to the Manager30 instruction manual is for "load disconnect". What you can do with this is connect a funky isolator made by REDARC to make a fancy 12v relay which "opens" (switches off in electrical speak) below set voltage threshold to prevent excessive electrical discharge (meaning your aux battery won't go completely flat). The opposite is applied when the voltage is above the set threshold.
      This is great as you can turn off non-essential equipment (e.g. inverter, non essential lighting, a selection of power outlets, etc.) when the battery gets a bit low but still keep any essential things turned on (e.g. fridge, walkie talkie, essential lighting, one or two power outlets, etc.). What you decide to be essential or not is up to you.
      Now that we understand what LOAD means, the answer to your question is "No"
      You don't "HAVE" to connect anything to "LOAD", but the option is there if you so choose.

      Yes, that's one reason we love using them. They build a great product and most of what comes out of the US is being manufactured in China and is suspect. REDARC gear is manufactured and assembled in Australia, then shipped to the US. No shame in that for us.
