I agree the SS should be cheaper when you look at the ultra and everything that is picking. Was looking at upgrading my s4 to a SS s8 but that price is really putting me off. Shame the SE doesn’t come in a SS
I’m so excited, I ordered the cellular SE 2 on Saturday! My first Apple Watch because at this price point it’s finally accesible. I’m still happy with my iPhone 11.
@@AJ-zo4pr No regrets here, the SE2 has been a great companion. I would have no use for the extra features the AW8 has. I walk every morning with my dog, so there’s the use of step tracking and such. I use it continuously throughout the day at work with music/podcasts/texts/checking emails while my phone stays in my backpack. At the end of my 8 to 10 hour work shift, the watch has around 30%-40% battery left which I think is great. The AW8 wouldn’t bring anything to the table for me.
I had an original Apple Watch and the battery finally gave up. I then had to decide which model to get and since I am now in my mid 60's I went with the series 8. I got the aluminum 41 MM with GPS only in black. I saw no sense in getting the cell model of the series 8 as I normally have my iPhone on my person all the time anyway. I also retired and saw no need for the stainless steel and for the biggest thing I am cheap. I did use the military/veteran discount and ordered it online with pickup in the store while I was in the Apple Store.
my series 5 started acting up within the last week..so i might trade in and get the se2 now. i use my watch everyday for working out, notifications, and time. Since day 1, i’ve had the always on display off..so i think this is a good choice. i’m hesitant…but i really need a new watch. and soon i plan on trading my iphone 13 pro max for the 14pro max, so i don’t see why i need to spend even way more for for a watch upgrade when i’m already dropping $200 for the phone upgrade ($720 trade in + $200 gift card balance)…what do u guys think?
4:30 I have an irregular heart beat and I still don't really care about this feature. My heart even stops for a bit sometimes. It's not like I don't clearly notice it. Been like this for 13 years.
Sorry but I must respectfully disagree w/r/t the lack of utility "for most people" of the health features. I'm generally healthy but I find the data invaluable.
Bought series 8, there is nothing worth $400. Just piece of tech, give notification, calls, sleep tracking and heart rate, not sure how these things are useful

The new Apple Watch SE will actually perform better than the Series 8 since it's less demanding, but the performance is gonna be negligible in most cases. Regarding temperature feature, I'm sure Apple can add software updates in future so that it displays room temperature and also takes body temperature readings on request. There are two sensors, one for room and one for body - so it's technically possible that Apple can do a lot more things with this hardware.

I actually bought both the Apple watch 8 and The SE2. I bought the Watch 8 first and realized that the features I needed were on the SE2 for about $250 less because Verizon only offer the Cellular and GPS models, an additional $180 yearly plus tax. I never opened the Apple 8 and sending it back to Verizon, the SE2 I bought directly from Apple, had the watch in less than 24 hours; super fast delivery. I do not need the cellular watch because I alway carry my Iphone and two cellular devices on me at one time is a bit of over kill.
But what if you decide after let’s say 3 months that you miss always on display feature? You’re gonna sell it and lose money on such transaction? Come on

Still rocking my series 4, really want to upgrade and waited for the series 8, but clearly the 7 will be a more financially sound option given the limited/non existent benefits of the 8…. The ultra, not needed and clearly the second iteration of the ultra in a years time will make this one redundant anyhow….. so Black Friday, I will be shopping for a well priced series 7….. but do I get a green one or a blue one?! 🤔🤔

I went for the Series 8 because I have not upgraded since Series 3. Figured it’s time. I was tempted by the Ultra, but decided against it because it seems pretty bulky. YMMV.

Getting my SE tomorrow. I really see no point in getting the 8 since all I want to do is track my activity. The smaller screen isn’t that big of a deal to me and isn’t worth the extra $200 upgrade just for that.
I was really confused between SE and watch 7 last year and I’m so glad I went with SE.I have been using my SE for the last one year along with my iPhone 13 and I must say it’s great. I don’t like the always on display so Series 7 didn’t have much to offer over SE. Got the 41mm gold one with milanese loop and it looks lovely.
You don’t need to keep the always on display enabled. I was debating between the SE and 7 as well. Tested the SE for about 2 months and traded it in for the 7. Haven’t looked back since
If the SE had the temperature detection for cycle tracking I would be sold! But that and the bevel size are the only things keeping me interested in the series 8. 🤪 but I don’t think either of those things make it worth the extra $150
I am still using my Apple Watch Series 3 which was purchased in Jan 2018. Although it is running slow now, it is still doing good during my workout. The battery is still at 93% of peak performance. Personally, I will wait till next year for the Series 9, and I am looking forward to some big changes in the S9 model.
Unless you’re a woman and you’re trying to not get pregnant or actively trying to get pregnant that could be the only circumstance where I could see it being plausible to justify but for 99.9% of the population it’s a very forgettable upgrade.
The Apple watch people probably still should buy? Dude, since Apple watch 2, everything but the max is the same watch they already have. If you want a new watch, Ultra is the only choice.

With regards to scratch proof glass I always install a 3rd party glass protector on my watch so I never have to worry about scratching or breaking the glass and like for $10 it’s a good investment.

I honestly just wanted the watch to connect my airpods when I go for a run and not carry my phone. I don't see myself using it very often so I will be choosing the SE as my first watch.
Upgrade from a Apple Watch 3 to the new SE. Absolutely love it. Fortunate to not need all the other fancy health benefits the 8 offers and all I really wanted was a newer watch to track workouts/fitness rings. Perfect 👍
That's all I want, too. Never owned one before, but SE seems like the perfect choice since all I want to do is close my rings! I don't need any fancy bells and whistles, just the great motivation the Fitness app brings me. 😊
I’ve had the se for a few days now and I love it. I got the watch to track calories more accurately when I work out and through the day, some of the other features are pretty cool such as the heart rate monitor and tracking sleep. If you’re just looking for something simple the se is great

I've pre-ordered a Series 8 last Thursday. Never had a smartwatch, so I am curious if it'll impact my life, health and fitness. The bigger screen and the native keyboard gave it the edge over the SE.
A bigger screen isn't necessarily better when it comes to smartwatches. It depends on how big your wrist is. The largest size Apple Watch will look bulky and stupid on a person with a small wrist. And even some people with bigger wrists prefer the smaller screen because it weighs like 2x less than the bigger option. Best thing to do is just try it on in the store to determine your preference.
I’m still using the series 3 cellular series🙂 embarrassing but it works perfectly still. But, time to upgrade to SE I believe. Or maybe the 8 🧐 of all my Apple products, the watch is my fav
I have the last gen SE for my daughter, my fiancé has the Series 5 SS, and I have the Series 7 Titanium. I pre-ordered the ultra. I'm looking forward to the brighter display, longer battery life, louder speaker for calls (when I don't have my phone on me), new navigation features, design and raised edges over the sapphire crystal. I was hoping the temperature sensor would be used to track possible signs of sickness, but obviously that's not the case.
Don’t worry I’m pretty confident that will be something that becomes a reality in a later software update. Yes Apple said as of now it’s only being utilized for womens health tracking periods and ovulation. But I’m surprised all these UA-cam reviewers keep saying that’s all it will be used for and probably isn’t important for anyone else. Especially someone who specializes in reviewing Apple products. We have seen this countless times where these features turn up in future updates. That’s not to put you down Greg. I am prone to heat stroke, and I thought the temperature tracking would alert me before I get too hot and faint or for me to keep an eye on my own rising temperature. But to tell me about my nonexistent eggs, it's pointless. Although I would be interested in the always-on screen. But an extra $150 for that is steep.
You are about the only person that made mention of the fact that the S2 does NOT have a keyboard which may be a deal breaker for many people. As always, great vid.
I am upgrading finally from a series 2. I wanted to upgrade last year but silver was not an option. I am going with the aluminum GPS S8 because of the larger screen, fast charging and added features. I felt like if I was going to an SE2, I would be side stepping as far as the screen goes. My next upgrade will probably be S14 haha.
Well that’s the benefit of apple products, longevity of use. My mom’s still on her iPhone 7 and is adamant she won’t upgrade till the 15. Expensive up front but longevity makes it worth it
The difference in the display with the screen going right to the edge in the 8 is the deciding factor for me. Just looks so much cleaner and better than the SE
I agree with you, a lot of the health stuff on non-se seems more like marketing. Especially the sp02 which is always going to be 98%+ in a healthy person, and is iffy on watches compared to a cheap finger sp02 sensor. I was surprised by the se price which was low key a nice surprise. Hopefully the health sensors and tracking gets better in future gens, and can add blood glucose monitoring and blood pressure. I have high hopes the temperature sensors on the aw8 and ultra has some use, as I was listening to a running coach either with a phd or working on one talk about how temp at night was one of the most useful health metrics along with resting heart rate. Maybe it'll be even more useful for female athletes for training.
I had the Apple Watch SE for around 7 months. I just upgraded to the Apple Watch Series 8. There is two features I can’t use (Blood Oxygen App) and ECG App. Apple says “People under 18 and 22 don’t need to use these apps.” Well, where did it say that when I bought it? I think that pert is stupid. Otherwise, I’m happy with my Series 8 upgrade.
Great video. I'm still using an AW series 3 and it's impossibly slow. I've never been a big fan of the AW, and only use it at the gym, so I don't feel like spending a lot of money on a disposable accessory would be very wise in my case. The fact that the SE has the latest chip makes it very enticing, especially at that price point. Looking forward to seeing one in person when it eventually gets released here in South Korea.
Preordered the new se, cuz I really need that heart rate sensor for running, and as a college student and for my experience I don’t necessarily need that always on display (when I need to know the time walking, I’ll have to raise my arm anyway, and when I’m sitting I have the laptop for time)

Those are also my purchasing decisions. It’s nice to have a 1mm bigger screen and most days I just feel like leaving my phone at home, so the keyboard would be great.
Apple is constantly holding back on technology. It's been what? 8-9 years since the first apple watch came out. And the battery life has basically NEVER CHANGED! Having to charge your watch every single night in this day and age is absurd. So I got the Polar Pacer Pro with at least a battery life of 7 days. If you have the money there are smart watches which last for more than 20 days. And there is 1 or 2 specific smartwatches (unfortunately with colorles screens) for which you never have to charge their battery. Why is Apple constantly holding back on technology and fooling people, no idea, but it's sad.
Always on display is a deal breaker for me. Still on an S3 (it refuses to die), and the lack of an AOD is annoying. For that reason, when I do replace it, it'll be the series 8 (or 9 or whatever is current at the time), but not the SE.
Don’t know why but the slimmer bezel makes me want the S8 much more tan SE, I get it the save on money but preferred the slender look even if it’s the same dimensions on paper.
Just brought my first Apple Watch. Chose the SE 2nd Generation. Also, have a Fitbit Sense 2 smartwatch. I wear them both. Health wise, whatever one won’t do, the other will. Love them both.
I ordered the Series 8 in stainless steel. A bit annoying that it's the same price as the Apple Watch Ultra, but at the same time the Ultra was really no option for me (it's just way too big and bulky).
Does anyone know if there is an improvement from the old Apple Watch SE to a newer version (7, 8, new SE) in terms of the loudness of the speakers? I "hate" to hold up my arm when using it for a phone call to be able to understand the other person. And no, normally I use phones or AirPods for calls, but sometimes it's not possible. 1st time having a Apple Watch . Trying to decide between the SE 2 (would only be paying $15 a month ) or the Series 8 ( about $35) both cellular the only reason I'm not 100% for SE is no keyboard 😩 . I am planning to buy an apple watch but still unable to decide on what model. I have irregular heart beat (pulse missing very rarely). What I am scared of is that whether these watches will unnecessarily alarm me for seeking urgent medical attention while I am driving. Keeping this in my mind, I think SE will be ideal for me.
I should have included this in my comment below. I've wanted the temperature feature because of Covid and other infectious agents. There are a plethora of temperature measurement features, but I'd like to have them reported in the IOS Health app without my intervention. Like all the health features, this one is useful for those with declining health as a consequence of aging or other related reasons.

I'm thinking the same thing. I have a Asus Vivowatch. It has stuff like the ekg and pulse o2 and I really don't want or use that stuff.
Still rocking my series 4, really want to upgrade and waited for the series 8, but clearly the 7 will be a more financially sound option given the limited/non existent benefits of the 8…. The ultra, not needed and clearly the second iteration of the ultra in a years time will make this one redundant anyhow….. so Black Friday, I will be shopping for a well priced series 7….. but do I get a green one or a blue one?! 🤔🤔

Getting my SE tomorrow. I really see no point in getting the 8 since all I want to do is track my activity. The smaller screen isn’t that big of a deal to me and isn’t worth the extra $200 upgrade just for that.

I was really confused between SE and watch 7 last year and I’m so glad I went with SE.I have been using my SE for the last one year along with my iPhone 13 and I must say it’s great. I don’t like the always on display so Series 7 didn’t have much to offer over SE. Got the 41mm gold one with milanese loop and it looks lovely.

You don’t need to keep the always on display enabled. I was debating between the SE and 7 as well. Tested the SE for about 2 months and traded it in for the 7. Haven’t looked back since

If the SE had the temperature detection for cycle tracking I would be sold! But that and the bevel size are the only things keeping me interested in the series 8. 🤪 but I don’t think either of those things make it worth the extra $150
I am still using my Apple Watch Series 3 which was purchased in Jan 2018. Although it is running slow now, it is still doing good during my workout. The battery is still at 93% of peak performance. Personally, I will wait till next year for the Series 9, and I am looking forward to some big changes in the S9 model.

Unless you’re a woman and you’re trying to not get pregnant or actively trying to get pregnant that could be the only circumstance where I could see it being plausible to justify but for 99.9% of the population it’s a very forgettable upgrade.
I was on the fence between the Series 8 and SE but having that keyboard to type messages might be the selling point for me.
The Apple watch people probably still should buy? Dude, since Apple watch 2, everything but the max is the same watch they already have. If you want a new watch, Ultra is the only choice.

With regards to scratch proof glass I always install a 3rd party glass protector on my watch so I never have to worry about scratching or breaking the glass and like for $10 it’s a good investment.

I honestly just wanted the watch to connect my airpods when I go for a run and not carry my phone. I don't see myself using it very often so I will be choosing the SE as my first watch.
Upgrade from a Apple Watch 3 to the new SE. Absolutely love it. Fortunate to not need all the other fancy health benefits the 8 offers and all I really wanted was a newer watch to track workouts/fitness rings. Perfect 👍
That's all I want, too. Never owned one before, but SE seems like the perfect choice since all I want to do is close my rings! I don't need any fancy bells and whistles, just the great motivation the Fitness app brings me. 😊

I’ve had the se for a few days now and I love it. I got the watch to track calories more accurately when I work out and through the day, some of the other features are pretty cool such as the heart rate monitor and tracking sleep. If you’re just looking for something simple the se is great

I've pre-ordered a Series 8 last Thursday. Never had a smartwatch, so I am curious if it'll impact my life, health and fitness. The bigger screen and the native keyboard gave it the edge over the SE.
A bigger screen isn't necessarily better when it comes to smartwatches. It depends on how big your wrist is. The largest size Apple Watch will look bulky and stupid on a person with a small wrist. And even some people with bigger wrists prefer the smaller screen because it weighs like 2x less than the bigger option. Best thing to do is just try it on in the store to determine your preference.
Se2 should of had a aod and the colours suck this time, the dot layout is awful imo.
as someone who is going to buy is first apple watch this year i will go for the 8 because of the always on display. still' great value for the SE.

I have the last gen SE for my daughter, my fiancé has the Series 5 SS, and I have the Series 7 Titanium. I pre-ordered the ultra. I'm looking forward to the brighter display, longer battery life, louder speaker for calls (when I don't have my phone on me), new navigation features, design and raised edges over the sapphire crystal. I was hoping the temperature sensor would be used to track possible signs of sickness, but obviously that's not the case.
Don’t worry I’m pretty confident that will be something that becomes a reality in a later software update. Yes Apple said as of now it’s only being utilized for womens health tracking periods and ovulation. But I’m surprised all these UA-cam reviewers keep saying that’s all it will be used for and probably isn’t important for anyone else. Especially someone who specializes in reviewing Apple products. We have seen this countless times where these features turn up in future updates. That’s not to put you down Greg. I am prone to heat stroke, and I thought the temperature tracking would alert me before I get too hot and faint or for me to keep an eye on my own rising temperature. But to tell me about my nonexistent eggs, it's pointless. Although I would be interested in the always-on screen. But an extra $150 for that is steep.
You are about the only person that made mention of the fact that the S2 does NOT have a keyboard which may be a deal breaker for many people. As always, great vid.
I am upgrading finally from a series 2. I wanted to upgrade last year but silver was not an option. I am going with the aluminum GPS S8 because of the larger screen, fast charging and added features. I felt like if I was going to an SE2, I would be side stepping as far as the screen goes. My next upgrade will probably be S14 haha.
Well that’s the benefit of apple products, longevity of use. My mom’s still on her iPhone 7 and is adamant she won’t upgrade till the 15. Expensive up front but longevity makes it worth it

Yeah the extra screen size is really nice. You’re going to be blown away at how much faster and nicer to use the S8 is compared to the S2
The difference in the display with the screen going right to the edge in the 8 is the deciding factor for me. Just looks so much cleaner and better than the SE

I agree with you, a lot of the health stuff on non-se seems more like marketing. Especially the sp02 which is always going to be 98%+ in a healthy person, and is iffy on watches compared to a cheap finger sp02 sensor. I was surprised by the se price which was low key a nice surprise. Hopefully the health sensors and tracking gets better in future gens, and can add blood glucose monitoring and blood pressure. I have high hopes the temperature sensors on the aw8 and ultra has some use, as I was listening to a running coach either with a phd or working on one talk about how temp at night was one of the most useful health metrics along with resting heart rate. Maybe it'll be even more useful for female athletes for training.

I had the Apple Watch SE for around 7 months. I just upgraded to the Apple Watch Series 8. There is two features I can’t use (Blood Oxygen App) and ECG App. Apple says “People under 18 and 22 don’t need to use these apps.” Well, where did it say that when I bought it? I think that pert is stupid. Otherwise, I’m happy with my Series 8 upgrade.
Great video. I'm still using an AW series 3 and it's impossibly slow. I've never been a big fan of the AW, and only use it at the gym, so I don't feel like spending a lot of money on a disposable accessory would be very wise in my case. The fact that the SE has the latest chip makes it very enticing, especially at that price point. Looking forward to seeing one in person when it eventually gets released here in South Korea.

Preordered the new se, cuz I really need that heart rate sensor for running, and as a college student and for my experience I don’t necessarily need that always on display (when I need to know the time walking, I’ll have to raise my arm anyway, and when I’m sitting I have the laptop for time)

Those are also my purchasing decisions. It’s nice to have a 1mm bigger screen and most days I just feel like leaving my phone at home, so the keyboard would be great.

Taking my ultra back and getting the series 8 due to the weight. Yep, I’m picky. The 45mm screen does seem nice on the 8 vs the 44mm on the SE.
Apple is constantly holding back on technology. It's been what? 8-9 years since the first apple watch came out. And the battery life has basically NEVER CHANGED! Having to charge your watch every single night in this day and age is absurd. So I got the Polar Pacer Pro with at least a battery life of 7 days. If you have the money there are smart watches which last for more than 20 days. And there is 1 or 2 specific smartwatches (unfortunately with colorles screens) for which you never have to charge their battery. Why is Apple constantly holding back on technology and fooling people, no idea, but it's sad.

Always on display is a deal breaker for me. Still on an S3 (it refuses to die), and the lack of an AOD is annoying. For that reason, when I do replace it, it'll be the series 8 (or 9 or whatever is current at the time), but not the SE.
Don’t know why but the slimmer bezel makes me want the S8 much more tan SE, I get it the save on money but preferred the slender look even if it’s the same dimensions on paper.
Just brought my first Apple Watch. Chose the SE 2nd Generation. Also, have a Fitbit Sense 2 smartwatch. I wear them both. Health wise, whatever one won’t do, the other will. Love them both.

I ordered the Series 8 in stainless steel. A bit annoying that it's the same price as the Apple Watch Ultra, but at the same time the Ultra was really no option for me (it's just way too big and bulky).
Does anyone know if there is an improvement from the old Apple Watch SE to a newer version (7, 8, new SE) in terms of the loudness of the speakers? I "hate" to hold up my arm when using it for a phone call to be able to understand the other person. And no, normally I use phones or AirPods for calls, but sometimes it's not possible. That confused me also. It has to have some form of keyboard. The 41mm apple 7 has a keyboard so a 44mm se has to have one to.
I am planning to buy an apple watch but still unable to decide on what model. I have irregular heart beat (pulse missing very rarely).
What I am scared of is that whether these watches will unnecessarily alarm me for seeking urgent medical attention while I am driving.
Keeping this in my mind, I think SE will be ideal for me.
I should have included this in my comment below. I've wanted the temperature feature because of Covid and other infectious agents. There are a plethora of temperature measurement features, but I'd like to have them reported in the IOS Health app without my intervention. Like all the health features, this one is useful for those with declining health as a consequence of aging or other related reasons.
