since the blood sacrifice at the gauntlet of shar only does one damage, it can be negated by the heavy armor master feat, or any armor that reduces physical damage by atleast 1!
At the time I couldn't find any heavy armour that could remove slashing damage so I went a different route - but I hadn't thought of the heavy armour master feat. Great idea!
Adamantine Amor in Underdark, Boss fight might be a bit much if you dont have enough invis potions prepared (need maybe 3 at least?), but abusing last seen location should let you win easily.
Also not sure if you covered it, but technically shove doesn't do any damage directly if they fall into the abyss. . .
you can also heal the remove the bleeding debuff

There are several heavy armor sets that negate slashing damage, all types of damage to a degree, or the Adamantine armor like others have said. I've come across more armors for that type of thing than I've needed haha. :) Not sure if it's the same as what you're talking about, as I'm still quite new. I'm curious, though, if there's a reason the armors I'd found wouldn't work. Or how random seller merchandise is.
Disguise Self is super slept on for avoiding combat. It’s a ritual in this game, so it won’t cost spell slots and you can get the benefits of any race you want in social situations. Walk into the goblin fort as a drow, then approach the gith looking like them, walk through the underdark as duergar where it suits you. I think the world gets a lot less racist after act 1, though.
Edit: This was made during a playthrough where I was trying these things. Apparently there’s not actually a duergar disguise option. Weirdly, though, cultist duergar respond well to drow.
Which is really weird because duegar hate the drow lmfao
If you're still interested, disguising as any dwarf gives you bonuses for Duegar, same with disguising as a gnome and taking to deep gnomes
Dont take damage, dont do damage, dont open up bg3.exe, dont buy & install the game - I love these runs
You can get over 30 AC as a sorcerer by lvl 3. 13 baseline (draconic) +3 from dex (base stat distribution of 8/16/14/8/10/17) +2 from the shield you can buy from Dammon, +1 ring of protection from Mol, +1 from Infernal Robe (if you're evil- and yes you're still evil even if you did the exploit) +5 from 'Shield' reaction spell *If* someone managed to overcome that 20 AC in act 1 (XD lol, lmao) and +9 from Mirror Image (that's why I said lvl 3, technically you could get everything else on lvl 1 already) Also, you get up to +4 to all saving throws from the ring of protection from Mol, the Staff you can buy from Auntie Ethel while she's still in the grove, and the shield you bought from Dammon.
The moment you get to Act 2 you can buy the cloak of protection, and evasive shoes for another +2 AC and +1 to all saving throws. This is also the moment you ditch the robe because finally the armour gets better, specifically the "Yuan-Ti Scale Mail" from Quartermaster Talli, which will give you 15+4 (you get 18 dex from the gloves from Creche Y'llek, yes you'll get +4 because even though it's medium armour, it has the same special perk as Armour of Agility) instead of 13+4 (draconic bloodline trait)
But wait you say- sorcerer can't use medium armour. Yes, but a Paladin can- you're multiclassing to get that armour "defence" fighting style for +1 AC when wearing armour and, once you reach character lvl 12, (or a 6/6 split) the "Aura of protection" to skyrocket our saving throws by up to +7 on everything (you're already at 20 charisma from first ASI and auntie ethel's hair, and at lvl 12 you'd already have found the mirror of loss which would give you +2 to charisma, then you change our weapon- from auntie ethel's staff to Duke Ravenguards Longsword so you can also smite some shits for good damage (no need to be evil to get it- you can just make him throw it away and pick it up with one of your companions, when you have a temporary control over him during the prison break sequence) which gives you another +2 charisma for a total of 24.
Since you're in act 3 now, it's also time to change armour one final time for Armour of Agility, that bumps your AC by further 2, and gives +2 to all saving throws. It's also FINALLY the moment you get a helmet that actually synergises with the build- Helm of Balduran which gives +1 AC and +1 to all saving throws. Our Total scores thus become:
34 AC and +4 saving throws in ACT 1
40 AC and +5 saving throws in ACT 2
43 AC and +13 saving throws in ACT 3
And you still have +4 initiative (or +9 if you took 'alert' as your second feat) and deal very good damage with two attacks per turn with smites, which we can spam more than a pure-paladin because you have more and higher lvl spell slots with an 'effective spell-caster level' of 9 instead of 6 of a pure paladin at lvl 12, and, of course, we still get to use normal sorcerer spells. Though the longsword doesn't have "finesse" so you'd get -1 from strength, so It'd be strongly advised to use the "Elixir of ****** giant's strength" to set it to 21 or 27, or you can change the gloves for the ones from House of Hope to set it permanently to 23, but you'll lose 1 AC 1 initiative, and 1 to attack rolls, if you go with the gloves.
-1, -1 on AC and Initiative only.
With the attack rolls you would jump to a +10 roll to attack with a longsword because of your modifier in strength (23) alongside a nice +6 to damage every time you hit.
Probably a fair enough trade off since 41 AC is still ridiculously hard to hit and diminishing returns occur due to critical attacks hitting you anyway.

@@IndependentObserver Sure? I guess… It’s not really -1 to attack rolls when your attack roll bonus ends up +6 above what it would be otherwise.
It’s like saying you lost the 7 temporary HP from false life even though you cast a spell that gives you 30 temporary hit points (Like armor of agathys at lvl 6).

you could have prevented that bleed by simply wearing ADAMANTINE SPLINT ARMOUR which reduces Reduces all incoming damage by 2 or wearing ADAMANTINE SCALE MAIL which reduces Reduces all incoming damage by 1 since you took 1 dmg per turn the damage would have been completely negated but i don't think you could have survived the Grym boss without taking dmg

Being a stabby happy person, a glint of glee in my eyes whenever the word 'initiative' appeared over my characters, the moment i saw the title name, my instant respomse was "no. No you cannot". And i find myself pleasantly wrong. This was really fun, and..educating, to watch. Loving the content.

I have made my own jimmy the rat as a invisibility scumming sorcerer halfling, and am now running the polar opposite of that as the half orc paladin, johnny the wrath
Pretty sure you could have used a healing potion to cure the bleeding before it does damage
Drinking a healing potion remove the bleeding I think.

I really don't understand why the door to the entrance to Shadowfell had Arcane Lock in your playthrough. I finished my first Honour Mode run about a month ago and I know for a fact it didn't have it when I reached that door, because the mechanism in front of the door "ate" my orbs with no way of getting them back and my only option was to get Gale and have him open the door by casting knock. Strange.
during one of the earlier patches they did some balance changes with that door being arcane locked as one of them. i'm guessing people didn't like it so they undid it not long after. this run just so happens to have been during that brief period!

That gnoll chest opening sequence reminded me and made me empathize with Superman for that time when he turned evil and became a murderous dictator, I am fairly certain he experienced something similar to cause that event.
Wearing damage reducing armour like the medium/heavy armour crafted at the adamatine forge reduces bleed damage to 0. no damage taken.

Duergar gets permanent invisibility from level 5. Makes so much stuff trivially easy.

@@Hawk7886 1 level sorcerer dip gets you disguise self with the correct dragon ancestry. On top of getting 4 utility cantrips (like mage hand) and Shield and magic missile
