How cool are you for being open to a variety of youtubers including our age. Thanks for sharing about managing stress and anxiety.. You are too awesome!
i know Im randomly asking but does any of you know a way to log back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot my account password. I appreciate any help you can give me
Well, not only am I over 40 and 50, I'm dang near 60! Not to mention the fact that I started my little channel before you started yours--your star rose way above mine and far more quickly, but I'm hanging in here. I really enjoy it, and it's totally worth it! Love you, Jen! Hugs, Kim
Great video! I'm 65 years old and started my UA-cam channel a few months ago. It's a steep learning curve and I'm sure my friends think I'm a little crazy. I've only got 49 subscribers but I am having the time of my life working on new videos. Thank you for the inspiration. I've had moments when I feel frustrated, but this video will keep me motivated.
I'm almost 50 making videos in a niche where the average age is probably people in their 20's. The most important thing is to really like what you're doing and enjoying the process of learning all the UA-cam ins and outs. Although I really like that Jen is here leading the journey. Because of her I've been feeling more confident in making my videos and not feeling like such a weirdo for being... old-ish. ;)
I needed to hear this am 42, just turned 42, am always doing stuff, I already be recording my self in my car and driving, fake mukbangs, after work being at nurse, I be so tired but I am so creative also even after work .✌️😘👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Jen! Thanks so much for this. As an introvert over 50 doing a UA-cam channel it is a challenge. I have often wondered what I am doing when I see all these women that are so much younger than I am in this niche. I don't have small children, I don't even have children at home any more. But I think that once you find your own niche you have someone you "talk" to and finding a way to communicate with them. Hearing you say that this demographics is growing makes my heart happy! Thanks so much for this!
Before we started watching, my hubby said “you get people talking about everything you do good and bad so that’s one negative” and I said “yeah but hopefully over 40 you can handle it better lol” which, of course was the first thing you said! Those are great reasons to start one - and I’m so glad that you did! 😃
It's great to see you empowering others to try their hand at UA-cam! As a younger person, I definitely look towards my favorite UA-cam channels for guidance and information, in addition to entertainment.
I have just started my channel and I'm over 50, not many people have found me yet. But I'm making videos and staying hopeful. Thank you for your video!
22 years old and a long time subscriber!!! what you said is so on point. creators older than me know a lot more than i do and i love learning from them
I’m 27, and I love your channels, but you know that! There is comfort in listening to someone who has lived life and done things you are interested in.
Thanks for the inspiration and enthusiasm. I’m writing a novel and often feel as if it’s a fool’s quest. Not because I can’t write or don’t have a good story. It’s the age. Which is all in my head from all the “writer conference chatter.” Don’t google the odds of selling a debut novel after 50. I do it because of all that you said. The fun. The creativity. And I’m good. Darn it. 😊 Thanks for all the hard work I know these videos are. TTFN
Jamie seriously, and I know you know this, the list of people (especially women) who didn’t find their true passion or do their best work until the second half of the their lives is too long to put in this comment. Something about us after 50 means we give ourselves permission to do our work. I’m very proud of both of us.❤️
I’m 48 & I started my 1st UA-cam channel 8 years ago. I’m always searching for content creators & viewers that in my age group it seems so hard. So I’m glad that I’ve found your channel. TFS
Oh my goodness, Jen! I had completely forgotten about writing in for the pamphlets. What a great memory that has now resurfaced for me. I know this was just a minor point in your vlog, but it put a smile on my face. And, btw, thanks for the rest of the content as well.
I like this, I am over 40 and it is best thing after the military 20 years. Love this and encouragement no matter what age. Funny I share something similar in a video. Thanks again
I’m so glad you posted this! I’m over 40 and just started a channel and wondering why there is so little ANYWHERE geared towards women over 40. Well if “they” won’t provide it for us, WE need to provide it for ourselves!!! 🙌🏻
When I was in Disney this week, a woman saw me vlogging and came over. She told me that she just turned 50 and is interested in starting a youtube channel, but doesn't know anything about youtube. I knew you were going to post this video, so after I told her a little about what I do and equipment I use, I immediately told her to check out your channel and specifically this video. I told her, it must be fate that she wants to do this and that you published this video. I hope she was able to watch this and get inspired to start her own channel as you have inspired me. Thanks for all of your honesty and all you do Jen!
Hi, thank you soooo much for this video. I'll be 41 this yr & I have been collecting video footage to start a youtube channel. My kids are helping me w/ editing and I am so excited but yet discouraged when I think about how much younger a lot of the successful youtubers are. However, I have a lot to share & now I have time on my hands to do so. I'd like to touch on life experiences, my hysterectomy journey, my weight loss journey (body image issues), my career, being a grandparent, depression, grief & more. I am even more excited after watching your video it brought me "joy". Thanks much
😎 i’m enjoying my second-time around on YT. started in the mid-2000s in my 30s, but didn’t keep at it. i couldn’t agree more that it takes patience and it certainly isn’t for everyone. 😃 more women in our demo need creative encouragement & you’re providing just that!
It’s so true!! I think a lot of us suffer from serious self esteem and confidence issues and we need to encourage the amazing to step out of the shadows!!!!
It’s so true! When we discovered you, we almost immediately started referring to you as our Disney UA-cam mom. There’s a new channel called “Dad, how do?” and it’s a guy that lost his father at a young age and grew up not knowing how to do simple things, and now teaches others how to do things through his channel. He’s a dad to so many people in a broken world that needs father figures. It’s so amazing.
I think we are all trying to figure out what part we are meant to play in making things better. We can't fix it, but we can bring our best selves to the table and at least try not to make it worse! I appreciate you both very much.
Aloha! Thanks for making this encouraging video! I’m in my 40s and have been wanting to start a channel for about 10 years now. I think this year I’m finally gonna do it! 😊
Lol oh I so recall writing to city chambers to get information on school reports. Oh dear. But I do miss the hours at the library. Thanks for sharing. I started my channel a year ago. I’m finding the meeting new people via the comments enjoyable. Their personalities blossom with each video.
Jen, your advice here is so universal and so wonderful. I’m continuing my tour through your past content and this one just came up. I’m not interested in making a UA-cam channel but I have some creative things I keep trying to find time to do. All of the advice here about just do it, do those things that you love. It’s spot on. I love starting my day with a cup of coffee and a video from Jen. Thank you for being here for us.
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge oh I’m so honored! The universe sends us messages when we need them. We just have to listen. I’m glad I was able to help. You’re positivity has done so much for me.
I never watched UA-cam in my 20’s. You are nailing it on the head, my dear. Thank you for always inspiring and encouraging other creators. 💕💕💕 oh and ATTENTION OTHER NEW CREATORS: I can attest to the amazing consulting/coaching of Jen Lefforge. She gave me so many great tips and I’m slowly implementing and I can say it is still a very small channel but I’m slowly GROWING too. I am very thankful for this lovely lady.
I was never into UA-cam at all until i was planning our first family Disney trip in 2017 and after watching so many channels i just found myself coming back to yours over and over again! I know i'm in my mid 30's but i felt like i connected with you so much more then any other channel that was run by a 20 year old. The way you spoke, the way you explained, the way you share your life experience...it just connected with me so much! And as i told you YOU are the main channel i watch on UA-cam ever since i first found you! We are about 1 hour before midnight so i'm wishing you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You are such an amazing person and i'm so lucky that i have found your channel because honestly you always make my day a better place! Have a wonderful day Jen!
I have always enjoyed your content (both channels!) and really glad you post solid, well thought out material! I have no desire to start a channel, but love to watch you grow and explore. Keep up the great work!
Jen, I’m in my late 20’s and I so appreciate your perspective and your channel. Only found you a few months ago but really, really enjoy your content. (And you’ve taught me a lot about running and run Disney!) so thank you and please keep it up!
I agree with #Emma Stevenson: You are a true inspiration. I'm in your age group and it's refreshing to see that people are going for a youtuber career at midlife. And you are soooo cool, creative and all kinds of awesome. Looove this video!
I learned quite a bit from your wisdom, thanks, I’m around your age and thinking of doing an educational channel, it’s seems almost like a degree in the time needed to grow a channel. I think UA-cam is a great way for older and younger to connect and transfer knowledge. It’s smart.
Colin I can tell you that I put in countless hours at first so yes, it does take a minute to figure it all out but at the same time it is so rewarding!
That's motivating! Thanks for the encouragement! As a 40+ year old just starting, I also had these kinds of concerns and whether I would be relevant. I'm still learning, and when you think about it, people of all age ranges consume content online, including UA-cam. In fact, I hardly even watch traditional TV anymore!
Hey Jen, I have just taped my first video, haven't posted it yet, but soon. After 4hr of trying to find my angles and to get comfortable in front of the camera. I am a 57yrs old a Decorator living in Jamaica. I was preparing to shoot a 3 mins ads for one of my major clients and was just in a funk...I was still at it...because I am so critical of my self. I lose my words.....that doesn't usually happen to me. I stopped....took a break and that when I say your channel. Thank you.
Hi Jen, I love your joyful attitude. I love that you did this video. I also invite you to our Platinum UA-camrs community on Facebook, it is special for content creators over 40. You are right about quality taking work. I am lucky that I have an honest family that will tell me when I am off my game. I remember those pamphlets, wow, you took me back. So happy to have subscribed to your channel. xoxo Marta
I love your advice here. I'm in the process of pivoting my UA-cam channel for women over 40 who work for themselves and want to create content and get more confident online. This was a real encouragement!
Ah Jen, what a lovely positive video! I'm 49 and I've been attempting to start a channel for years, I have a little content on mine but things get in the way don't they? You have inspired me to get on with it! Lots of love from the UK! xx
I'm 44 and planned on starting one. We were going to do a year of Disney for my daughter's senior year and wanted to record our trips. My Inlaws worked at Dollywood before retiring this week so I'd planned an April trip there to learn how to film and edit. Luckily the first Disney trip wasn't until September so we hadn't activated the APs I got before the prices went up last year. I have really struggled with my usual creative hobbies since the Great Unpleasantness began. I found your channel through the Twitter posts about your son at the protests last month. I have spent the last month watching old videos on both of your channels and you have given me so much peace. Thank you. And I love your hair. My daughter has curly hair and I love hers at that length.
You are so right Sis! Being a middle aged UA-camr is hard work and definitely not for the faint of heart! Sometimes I think, “what have I gotten myself into!” Lol. Love your personality. Thanks for the encouragement!😊
Another great video Jen! Could listen to you talk all day 😊 Wish I saw this when I first started our little channel... would have been a great push to start sooner!
Hi Jen, I love you! You are so positive and a breath of fresh air. I have just started my channel, I actually started a channel over 7 years ago but lost my confidence (long sad story) and I removed all my uploads. Now at 39 years old I started my channel again. Thank you for all that you are doing for us more mature you tubers, you are totally right, I am watching so much more UA-cam these days and we shouldn't feel that we don't belong. UA-cam is for us all. I am looking forward to more Jen uploads in the future x
Lyndsey, seriously, I totally get the lost confidence part and it takes a lot to put yourself out there. There are days I just can't because of that very reason. I'm proud of you for pushing past it! Good luck and be patient - it can be a slow growing medium for sure (but as soon as I say that your channel will blow up and I'll be asking you for advice!)
Loved #1 It's Fun!! This was wonderful motivation for this 30-something new creator. I'm still in the planning and prepping stage of starting my own channel. Getting those first 5 videos ready before posting.
Great info, thanks for sharing.Glad I found your channel. I finally joined YT last July after a lot of thinking and contemplating. I am exactly like you , no idea about the YT world but here I am with 72 videos, 252 subs and almost 25k views. It's hard but passion with purpose wins, no quitting allowed. But the best thing, I am enjoying the process. Thanks again for this video.
I love your channel and your haircut. I am way over 40 and enjoy watching UA-cam but hard to find content geared for people that are older. Thank you for what you do.
Very nice video. I (now 45) am also startin to learn about how to improve my channel. Thanks a lot! Inspiring. It is annoying, if there are only 20 year olds readily available. I don't quite know how to find those UA-camrs my age. Especially women. I am happy to stumble upon your channel today :)
I'm happy I found your channel all them tips have come in handy, I ve always wanted to do a you tube video and I always thought age matter. I'm 40 and I d like to do start a channel, the one thing I'm worried about is the comments I ll just switch off and ignore them.
Oh wow, I didn't think I would be sitting here nodding 'yes' to almost everything you said in this one :p It also was very applicable to the fact that I've always wanted to start my own business ... and guess what... I'm taking that plunge! I'm starting a course in september to start up in a safe and protected environment, so no big (financial) risks, until I am successful with my business(a webshop) so .....I am scared yet so excited! throughout the years I feel like my creativity has been numbed down and I am looking forward to having that new spark again :)
also... I'm 37. So... very close to that 40 mark. Pretty scary to realize that all of a sudden haha :p But your video not only made me realize that, it also made me accept it as well. It's ok. I'm fine with it. (talk to me again when I'm actually turning 40 because I have been dreading that milestone somehow...I wasn't sad about turning 30, but 40 somehow makes me sad and scared...)
Perfect timing because I had a dream last night that I started a channel and was a hit 😂 (I do not have plans to start a channel, this was a weird dream for me to have)
I work with numbers. I LOVE numbers, but not exactly creative. I definitely crave creativity in my life. My outlet is embroidery. I could argue the reverse of you. “Why you should embroider before 50!” 🤣
Loved this video Jen. Love this top on you. I turned 40 at the beginning of this year. I watch these videos as my son wants to do a UA-cam channel and I am finding out as much as I can to help guide him.
It can be a great outlet for kids as well! I don't have an experience with that and I know there's a lot of rules regarding kid creators, but there's lots out there to help you. Good luck to you both!
I say kid. He is in his last year of high school. He has wanted to do one for a few years. I was a bit nervous with him putting himself out there. We made a deal to do research first and finish high school before he gives it a go. I am glad in a way as he has so many ideas and talking it out and planning has given him time to really think about all that comes with it. He also wants to be a pilot or engineer. Lots of big decisions this year.

Thank you so much, Julie!
I started a UA-cam channel and I’m loving it!!!
I know this wasn't the point of your video, but your hair looks radiant! Way to go Jen, young viewer here and love the channel!
I love it thank you!!!!❤️
Hey Jen, I have just taped my first video, haven't posted it yet, but soon.
So happy to have subscribed to your channel. xoxo Marta
Interesting even though I’m not planning a utube channel myself. Love your hair!
Thank you for inspiring a Gen Xer to try UA-cam.
Absolutely my honor, Liz!! Good luck on your journey!
I've just started mine at 46!!! I really hope it takes off 🙂
Hi Jen... Im excited and I just subscribed. I have some catching up to do! ❤❤❤
Welcome!! Glad you're here!
Lots of love from the UK! xx
This is all 100% true! UA-cam has been such a wonderful creative outlet and I have met some pretty amazing people too😊
I'm 44 and planned on starting one.
Love it! I am over 40, now I'm 48 and so shy! Maybe can start one day a youtube channel! :)
I’m shy too & I started my channel anyway. Sometimes I find it therapeutic. I say go for it anyway.
You are so right Sis! Being a middle aged UA-camr is hard work and definitely not for the faint of heart! Sometimes I think, “what have I gotten myself into!” Lol. Love your personality. Thanks for the encouragement!😊
Of course!! We need each other on this journey!🥰🥰🥰
UA-cam is fun!! Truly a marathon and not a sprint!! Thanks for the video Jen! You are the best!!😁🎨
Hey Jen! I'm from Kalamazoo Michigan and wanted to say hey hey.
I am 45 and finally started my channel 😍
I've always really wanted to! And this is the first of your videos i watch and i'm already so inspired!
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge Aw thanks so much Jen xxx note to self- create more me time to enjoy more of Jen’s UA-cam #2021Goals xxx
Loved #1 It's Fun!!
This was wonderful motivation for this 30-something new creator. I'm still in the planning and prepping stage of starting my own channel. Getting those first 5 videos ready before posting.
Great idea, Alicia! So smart. You really learn so much in those first few uploads!
Absolutely my pleasure, Kimberly.
Lovely, Jen! So enjoyed watching this!
Oh I’m so glad!! Thank you!
I’m thinking of starting a UA-cam channel for Latinas over 40. You’ve inspired me🌷
I'm so glad!! That's wonderful. Christina!
Thank you. I believe I'm going to try
Perfect timing because I had a dream last night that I started a channel and was a hit 😂 (I do not have plans to start a channel, this was a weird dream for me to have)
Well maybe you should, Susan??❤️
Loved this! For me it’s definitely been challenging, but it’s also been fun and the friendships have been the greatest reward.
Totally agree!
Thank you for the encouragement, this was the video I needed 💕
Glad to hear it, Emily!
I work with numbers. I LOVE numbers, but not exactly creative. I definitely crave creativity in my life. My outlet is embroidery. I could argue the reverse of you. “Why you should embroider before 50!” 🤣
I don't know if that's the reverse - after all, creativity is creativity in all forms! Same book, different chapter, Ashlee! I love that!
Fun, informative video's. Glad to have discovered your channel!
Thank you, Donna!
Hi Jen. Thanks for the motivation. I hope to one day be as natural at this as you are. I love your creative energy!
Thank you so much, Maya!
OMG- RESEARCH PAPERS! Having to go to the library and hauling a stack of books out😭
Love Love Love Your New Do!!!! Love Watching You!!!
Exactly the video I needed to hear today!
Thank you for sharing
I did and I LOVE it!
LOVED this video!
Great video Jen. I always love how encouraging you are to others. 😊
Thank you Kara! It’s honestly one of my favorite things and right now I think we can all use a little encouragement.❤️
Love your hair!!!!!!
Loved this! Thanks!
Thank you for this video.
My pleasure!!!
Inspiring! Thank you🌺
