    Tim, you are one of my ultimate role models in life - you're a rather old fellow who has been through a lot, but then you never lost your sense of wonder, and you're still amazed by all the little things in life... like a ruler attached to a string! The world needs more people like you, and like the people who watch these videos.

    For those wondering, the curved tailor's ruler is actually called a french curve. They come in many forms, and are used to draw perfect curves, both for artists and tailor patterns.

    I love how interesting his videos are and i love the way he talks so calm and relaxed , these videos help me clear my head and calm down my anxiety , he kinda reminds me of Bob Ross the share a way of taking that makes you feel safe and calm, i wish modern UA-camrs take notice , instead of the loud music and the Extreme bragging.

    I wouldn't normally watch a 12:37 video on measuring tapes and rulers, but its Tim, I love seeing his collections! I used to have some clicking wrist straps like the one in 5:42 and had quite a few of those rulers at 09:14 (but I kept breaking them) and the one of those at 9:42

    I love how wacky and superfluous modern gadgets and novelties that other collectors may scoff at, like that gum dispenser or an automatic lollipop, Tim gives consideration or even admiration. Tim is no stick in the mud and that makes me admire and respect him all the more.

    In light of the recent 50th anniversary of Dr Who, I vote Tim to be the next Doctor!
    All the mad, bizarre but useful things he could bring on to the show as props etc. I can imagine him pulling out something ingenious from his blazer and using it to defeat the Daleks! Just like 10 had the 3d specs and 11 had the Rubiks cube etc.

    Watching this channel really reminds me of my late grandfather who died when I was a child. He loved toys as well. Since I was an only child for about 10 years, he was always my playmate.

    I’ve used a diameter tape before while volunteering for the local tree survey. One side has regular inches, while one inch on the other side is equal to π inches on the regular side.
    Also, the musical ruler is awesome!

    I remember my father having what was called something like "The Fisherman's Ruler" which had a standard Imperial foot on one end, and when you pulled on both ends it would reveal a filet knife, and on the flipside of the ruler was a fisherman's foot, which, on the same ruler, was calibrated to 18 inches or so. Quite a novelty! I was hoping it would have been featured here, but maybe some time in the future!

    I remember those slap wrist things as a kid, they stop selling them, or the original versions because kids would slap em so hard, the steel thing would come out of the plastic and slice kids wrists.. who knows if that was actually the case or parents were scared. But I missed those.

    At 1:15, a plumber would use a pair of calipers and multiply by 2pi if he wants the diameter. These would probably be used by a dressmaker.

      Nope, calipers already give you diameter. Pi * D gives you the circumference. His device works the opposite way, automatically converting circumference to diameter (C/pi=D)

    That diameter tape is a interesting tape that is potentially useful. I mean in a normal cylinder/circle you can just measure that. But for circular shapes that does not have a circular face, and too large for a normal caliber to reach. You could actually get some use out of that ruler.
    OF course you could just measure it yourself and divide by pi. But if you do a lot of measure that require diameter that does not have a flat point for access, it could be useful.
    It's neat because unlike the other rules shown, this one actually does have a practical use. Time saving measurement. Although I don't see it being that accurate.

    There is a kind of Feng Shui ruler used to determine what is good or bad Feng Shui measurements. It looks like an ordinary measuring tape with added inscriptions.
