The reason Chelsea could sell Havertz and Mount for that money is because both of them had previously acchieved something on the pitch....so there was something there...
These new young Chelsea players haven't acchieved anything (bar Enzo) so it won't be as easy getting any big money for them....and Chelsea wouldn't sell the best ones either, so just those that Chelsea don't want to keep....and they won't get much for them....
So this thing you talked about kicking the can down the road is a real thing....Chelsea fans just don't want to admit this....
Every next 5-6 seasons Chelsea will pay in transfer fees around £50-100m on the players they already have plus whatever they bring in each season...so they need to sell for a big amount each season to even balance the books....and soon they won't have that many good players to sell...at least not for the amount they need....If they don't sell their best players of course...but then they won't progress and it will end up very bad....
It's the domino effect....
They keep digging a deeper hole each season....

MO just lack a basic accounting sense, player transfer fee is amortized over years over the length of contract. Its is not expensed in a year. Player are assets. They don’t do the basic homework, just have to run an agenda against the club.
