Hilarious. The Lakers will be 6th seed at best 10th seed at worst. Most likely a play-in team again. They don't have the $ or assets to attract a meaningful player that moves the needle. No star player is coming to play for 5-11 million on the MLE for a coach with 0 exp and a 40 yr old who dominates the ball. The Lakers don't even need another star, they need consistent role players, they need shooting and rim protection. Even if the Lakers somehow get a decent player Laker fans in their delusion will claim "The League is done! We winning the chip! It's ova!" Just like y'all did when LeGM traded for Russ. How'd that work out again? 😂

It’s obvious he would take a pay cut to not waste anytime and the opportunity to win a championship with his son. He knows that’s the only way so why would he let that opportunity slip away by taking money and not get a good team together for his last years and first year with his son. It’s not like he needs money either, money ain’t a problem for him and his last couple of years in the NBA all he cares is about playing with his son and winning a championship. His career is already finished and has nothing left to accomplish other than win another championship and with his son.

Lakers should take Jonas. We need a solid big to backup AD. Jonas is an experienced big who can get you 10/10 in 25 mins and bang with the other heavy centers. This will help AD and keep him fresh and sharp to make consistent midrange jumpers and sometimes 3's and help out on defense without tiring himself. We know it worked with McGee and Dwight. PG that’s it. PG is an athletic wing, has playoff experience, can create his own shot, plays good defense, can score at an elite level and can play off the ball. If you can’t get PG, I’d settle for Klay. Klay has championship pedigree, plays off ball, can score at an elite level, he’s not the same defender he once was but he plays defense. Outside of those two, you can argue Tobias could be just as good of a fit as Klay, but outside of those caliber of players and a stretch big, nothing else is really moving the needle imo.

I think two likely options atleast on the free agent market that we could target for full MLE is Jonas Valuncunis and Demar Derozan. I think since we can use full MLE in a trade to there's probably a good chance that the Lakers look to trade DLO and also use the full MLE in trade back to gst a player in return that we might not have without MLE.
Rn I'd say Jonas is someone I'd give it too. The biggest need for is another big it was obvious during the season and then during playoffs that we desperately need another big that play against other big teams like nuggets and timberwolves. Jonas would hold his own defensively against Jokic making things tough on Jokic especially with AD lurking as well and Jonas is also someone who can score offensively and is capable of hitting the 3 at times. I think either him or targeting someone like Brook lopez via trade is what I'd consider.
Demar is more talented especially offensively and can be that third option for us and a solid defender when he's locked in. My problem with Demar is that the fit would be awkward as he's not a 3 point shooter so it's gonna hurt the floor spacing. He's got more upside obviously and is someone who can get 25- 30 milliion a year from a bunch of teams i know he said in a podcast recently when asked is that he'd consider taking a pay cut for a year to play for a championship and him playing for his hometown laksrs would be a dream but again fit wise I'm not sure.
Id be curious in the trade market how we can use it bc we will have more options via trade

Trading DLo for Vucevic is just opening a hole at the point guard position and losing a great 3 point shooter. I don't think Redick or Bron would be happy with that. Almost feel like Klay would like to put a Lakers jersey on to join AD and play for his dad's old team. He would likely have a bounce back year with Redick's coaching style and he'd make a bunch off endorsements in LA vs Orlando. If they trade DLo they need to replace his shooting and playmaking. Every team has a great guard.

Best all in move is Dlo, Rui, wood- picks(‘29, ‘31, unprotected 27) for Lauri and Sexton. Regardless of what Lebron does this helps now and in the future. Sell out for Lauri. Sexton, Reaves, LBJ, Lauri, AD - gabe, Vando, JHS, Knecht, Bronny, Hayes, reddish, Lewis- depending on what bron does you would fill the last spot with MLE or max and min.

With the utter nonsense Lakers Nation is bringing up and the Lakers are reportedly looking at, we'd only be a lock as a playoff team if LBJ takes 0 dollars. LOL
Let's say we get DeMar and Valanciunas. They are practically of zero use to us. DeMar is certainly going to be massively better than Reaves, but he's not a shooter, so we'll have a clogged paint again. At the same time the more important thing is that he is so expensive, that there will be no wings added besides our rookie. And to get there Rui is gone and either Vando or Reaves and both of them would be ideal for their respective roles OFF THE BENCH. Val is going to get ran off the court if he ever gets on it anyway. Career kill move for him to even come here. The end result will be that Val will be in instead of Hayes, DeMar will score more and spread the floor less and be better than Reaves on defense, but the bench will be almost empty as a result. The advantage you gain there will be lost with no Vando and Rui coming off the bench. Zero sum game imo.
It's like not a single Lakers person knows anything about basketball at all. Sorry Jerry West, rest in peace. We the fans failed you. You were the last one who knew what a lineup was and how they work over here.

Does anyone around here learn? If Bron’s taking a cut maybe it’s because he’s had some talks with his new coach-I don’t know if JJ will be a great coach or not but he’s a very good player and roster evaluator. He understands the current Meta in the NBA. Chasing BIG NAMES isn’t a good strategy anymore. You have to play Moneyball. Lakers need perimeter defense & a second big who can provide some size & muscle, rebound & shoot well enough so he won’t clog the paint on offense.
