Switzerland and Austria are the teo biggest dark horses of the tournament for me and IF England manages to go trough against Slovakia, I‘m 100% they’re gonna get beat by Switzerland aswell.
They were, but the English media had a friend in Luciano. He set them up to lose 100%. See my video (soon) and it will explain everything. He did so also in their last group game vs England. After dominating the first half, he puts in two slow defenders who never played together for the second. and let the wing backs, again Di Slowrenzo, run up the wings and abandon their defensive duties. Kane ran up the middle twice unmarked an scored. I couldn't understand how a coach could be that stupid, but now I do after seeing it for 3 games in a row. When a reporter said that he learned that some players were makng decisions on the team (likely Di Lorenzo because Luciano loves him), Spalletti didn't deny it, he got angry and said that whomever it was, was trying to hurt them team. Get that? He basically acknowledged that it was happening. It showed. He must be removed immediately, but first Gravina must be removed. Because Gravina is ok with this.
What a shambolic representation of a defending champion. Italy was totally unrecognisable. The fact that Spaletti decided to do a Southgate experiment by not getting his first eleven players right is mind-troubling. I put my money on them to at least get to the quarter final but it turned out to be an absolute disgrace. Certainly this is the worst Italian team since the 20th century. As for Switzerland, if they could beat England or Slovakia to the Semi-final they could do a Greece 2004.
I thought Switzerland were fantastic tonight on the flip side I have to be honest that has to be one of the worst Italian sides i have seen in 30 years.

when i saw the starting XI for Italy i was shocked. this was the weakest side he'd started in any of the games in the tournament so far. and with so many changes to the lineup you could tell the team had no chemistry. i know Italy didn't have high hopes of winning the Euros but this was an embarrassment.
People can say they have never seen an Italian side play so badly etc… I’ve just read a BBC report on this match & it says that Luchino Spalletti could never replicate the form that took Napoli to Seria A success last year with the national side. Firstly these are entirely two different worlds. It took Spalltti three years before he perfected a method which led Napoli to Italian champions. He didn’t have three years at the national side. He was only in the job less than a year. Gary Liniker says that this is the worse Italian side he has ever seen. Maybe? The 1970’s were not that kind either to the Italian national side with no shows in the European Championships a first round 1974 World Cup exit in group containing Haiti. No Italian side winning the European Cup either. Roberto Mancini won the European Championships after being in the job three years with a lockdown year in which no football was played but enough time to keep tinkering with the side. I think people are completely jumping to short term conclusions.
Most embarssing display I have ever seen worse than even Macedonia game . When you play el sheraway it’s over . Get Gasperini in there he is real coach .
You want Gasperini in as an international manager? Lmao. He's the antithesis of that, needs lots of practice sessions to get his ideas across. Just because he's had a great run with Atalanta doesn't mean that will translate over to the Italian job...
Fun fact: Last 3 euro reign champions got knocked out in r16 in the euro afterward More fun: Last 2 euro runners up were the hosting country - Germany could become 3rd straight team to lose on home turf
This is my take on Italian football: there are clearly issues from the top down, from the way their FA and their clubs are being run down to grassroots level where talent is being developed. The problem is that every once in a while, Italian football will overachieve, like Italy winning Euro 2020/21, and Serie A clubs making it to finals of European club competition. But whenever they overachieve, they'll start to think everything is back to normal again and sweep all their issues under the rug, instead of continuing to address their problems. And now they're just stuck in this cycle of overachieving ----> disastrous campaign ---> overachieving ---> disasters. I had predicted that none of the Serie A clubs would get out of the Champions League group stage this past season. I was wrong on that, but wasn't surprised that none got past the R16.
Not really when the U17's and U 19's are doing well. That's the opposite of grassroots problems. And look at how many countries/clubs have Italian managers? It's not a fluke, just some very poor running/picking of this squad by the managerial staff.
Yes U17 and U19 Euro Champions, U20 WC runner-up. Spalletti picked players who he has coached before at club level such as Napoli and Roma. The only right decision he made was giving Calafiori a chance to play. He played players out of position or continue to stick to players he knew from the clubs he managed. This performance is 100% on Spalletti@@nzmarco

I've been watching the Azzurri since 1994. This is by far the worst Italian team I have witnessed. Not necessarily the full squad but most players. Donnrumma was the only good one. Alot of work needs to be done if we even plan on qualifying for the next world cup. Euro 2020 we were so attack minded. We were sleeping every game this tournament. Spaletti isn't the right coach for us for starters. When you got cristante and El shawarry playing for us you know there's a problem.
Italy 2016 was less talented, but had a coach who knew how to line them up and formulate a group. This group hates Spalletti and one leaked that he has favorites and they were calling the shots. It was so bad that Spalletti erupted in the media when a reporter asked him about it, essentially confirming it was true. I'm 100% positive that Di Lorenzo is in that group because he was SO horrible, the culprit on all the goals except the Albanian one but he remained. Spalletti even took out Darmian in the last game who was 100% better than Di Lorenzo. That's sabotage 100%
Last week Gab criticized USMNT fans for criticizing Greg Berhalter who is a far far far far inferior coach than Spalletti, now he's blaming the coach for Italy...
I really don’t understand why arsenal would let a player like Xhaka go. A huge asset lost. I rate Xhaka more that Rice and it would have been nice to have both in a team.
Switzerland was just the better team man to man had better players and a system that's good going forward and defend. Similar to Austria i know these teams are strong cos they consistently do well whereas Italy are going through a phase with no talent upfront it doesnt help.
*The quality of players today is decreasing each decade: Italy, Netherlands, Brazil, Spain, England and the list goes on* The players in Italy's squad are almost unrecognizable, back then they had with Nesta, Maldini, Cannavaro, Zambrotta etc. world class players in the backline alone Netherlands also had legends all over the pitch with Seedorf, Davids, Cocu, Stam, De Boer, Overmars, Van Nistelrooy, Kluivert, Robben, Van Persie, Sneijder etc. Spain despite talented didn't win a thing since Euros 2012, back then thanks to the generational talent of Barca Spaniards who defined Tiki Taka Brazil is maybe the biggest downfall where a bunch of absolute nobodys is playing today, talking about Vinicius winning a Ballon D'or shows the bad state of football when someone who gets carried by a perfect Real side and scored only under 20 goals this season is valued so highly
It's not all about Italy! It's the same story when Switzerland beat France, the journalists always speak about the losers but not the winner, because it's Switzerland. But Switzerland showed that winning against great nations is not a coincidence.

Swiss played very well since the start of the tournament but I m just baffled with Spalletti’s team selection. Scammaca was redundant but still not substituted..and the two fullbacks are just so poor
Italy spends more time developing foreign players rather than promoting their own…seems a common pattern in the better leagues…it’s all money driven and someone always pays for it
It's great to see gab get his hamburgler panties in a bunch. Dude was stuttering like crazy. It's ok Gab. At least FIFA increased the number of teams for the World Cup so Italy can "prove" they belong in a major tournament.

All the best to Italy from Portugal, I have a feeling that Martinez will also get a ticket to send Portugal home as well, although the team is stacked I feel like we will be joining our roman family Italy pretty soon 😂
The reason why italy looked so bad was switzerland playing on another level. No doubt that italy could play better. But switzeland was way better and that was not just lucky or italy's fault. Switzerland has a unit of team which can beat any nation in this tournament. I hope we will see them play some more games.
I watched football almost half the century and this is the first time I saw Italia NT doesn't even want to play, let alone win the game. I never like their brand of football but they were miles ahead of anybody else in terms of doing anything to win. Along with their cousins Argentina, they are the poster boy of football pragmatism. They don't even try to cheat, dive, provoke, or anything to help.themselves, they done nothing. That's the weird part for me! Swiss in the other hand, is an example of steadiness, normal, flat and efficient. Never been too great but also never easy to get rid off in every tournament they are in.
Spaletti has to go. Horrible team management and tactics. Build a team of players who normally play in a 3 atb and played with a 4atb. Every match was different formation and different players in the line up. Players were played out of position. He kept players that were terrible in the lineup. Players like El Sha should not have started over Zaccagni, why the heck would you start Cristante.

Switzerland were magnificent and outplayed Italy ...IF England win they will be up against a formidable opposition that are streets ahead in preparation and teamwork ...really enjoyed watching them
The problem is that spalletti thought that this team was better than what reality told us. The attack is poor and we should have played with a defensive mentality to go forward. Pressing forward was useless and playing from the back was depressing. The firat goal came from a failed as usual press, where we left them space in the center to punish us. Almost any national team is not well organized in offence because there is no time to train them, most players are tired after the long season, then why not trying to be good defensively? Why pressing high when it doesnt work?
Switzerland were excellent. They pressed, they made the runs, and their passing was more intentional. Italy's passing seemed to have no real purpose. They were just passing. I think that's something Spalletti wanted in terms of keeping possession. But when you're down 2 goals, passing the ball around is useless.
The blame starts at the top. Luciano Spalletti has got to go. He mismanaged this team from the beginning when you start El Shaawaree somethings amiss with your brain waves. I called that they‘d get knocked out. That italy team, especially with Scamacca upfront, was terrible. And this swiss team is very solid and compact on every front. Switzerland and Austria are the teo biggest dark horses of the tournament for me and IF England manages to go trough against Slovakia, I‘m 100% they’re gonna get beat by Switzerland aswell.

When I saw scamacca upfront ,I fainted because that guy is most useless stricker I v ever seen

Certainly this is the worst Italian team since the 20th century. when i saw the starting XI for Italy i was shocked. this was the weakest side he'd started in any of the games in the tournament so far. and with so many changes to the lineup you could tell the team had no chemistry. i know Italy didn't have high hopes of winning the Euros but this was an embarrassment.

Netherlands also had legends all over the pitch with Seedorf, Davids, Cocu, Stam, De Boer, Overmars, Van Nistelrooy, Kluivert, Robben, Van Persie, Sneijder etc.
Spain despite talented didn't win a thing since Euros 2012, back then thanks to the generational talent of Barca Spaniards who defined Tiki Taka
Brazil is maybe the biggest downfall where a bunch of absolute nobodys is playing today, talking about Vinicius winning a Ballon D'or shows the bad state of football when someone who gets carried by a perfect Real side and scored only under 20 goals this season is valued so highly

Italy lacks speed and their fastest player, Bellanova, who is very fast, doesn't play one second.

Switzerland were excellent. They pressed, they made the runs, and their passing was more intentional. Italy's passing seemed to have no real purpose. They were just passing.
