Honestly for Link's Awakening I'd have to go with the Ballad of the Windfish. It perfectly encapsulates what Link's Awakening is actually about and it just sounds so beautiful.
This series has always had such great music but the Hyrule Castle theme in breath of the wild is my absolute favorite because of the way it blends the most iconic tracks in the series into one song.
I start playing trumpet when I was 7. It was also at this age that I discovered the universe of zelda and that I tried to reproduce the music. Now I'm 24 and I play in a amateur Band. I don't know if I would have gone this long without these games.
The entire Spirit Tracks Malladus sequence hits the nail on the head. The emotion I felt as as a kid as Zelda was trying to get back into her body, Byrne/ Staven's sacrifice for her and the lokomos coming together all leads up to such an epic battle. I would give an honourable mention to Byrne's theme and it's variations. Spirit tracks is so underrated soundtrack wise and I completely agree with your choice. Great video!
I actually love the quietness that comes with breath of the wild, it’s fitting as it’s a post apocalyptic environment, and there’s not much people alive to bring hyrule to life with them. Of course you will hear the occasional keys during your travels, but it’s mostly a calm, yet dreadful quietness that fills hyrule.
Problem is it just didn’t feel like ‘Zelda’. They went from touring the world with the Zelda orchestra so show off how amazing the music really was. To tinkling on a piano for their biggest game yet. A huge disappointment that the music was no longer considered a character of its own this time round. Hopefully they can fix it with the second game. The trailer for the game was incredible though and music was superb.
It's why the most song like themes the game has are the villages That's where the last of hyrule is, that's where the life is and the music follows suit Everything about botw is so close to perfection including the ost or lack there of, it also makes the moments where there is a soundtrack so much more impactful
I really liked that in breath of the wild, and listen to its ost practically daily in my sleep playlist, but I hope we get some more battle themes in the new one
My favorite Zelda song of all time has to be Lake Hylia from Twilight Princess. It gives off a feel of waking up at sunrise to start a new day. I even have it set as an alarm to wake up in the morning.
One of my favorites has always been Queen Rutela's Theme (Aka, Serenade of Water). Its always been so calming and nostalgic for me to listen to and had it set as an alarm for awhile
My favorite song in Wind Waker being Dragon Roost Island is all the reason I need for why Rito Village is one of my favorite songs from Breath of The Wild

Linebeck finally stands up for what is right ... and he loses. Bellum possesses him, turns him into a terrible parody of himself, and now you have to fend him off. Replacing the brass with bells gives the scene such a powerful feel, but now that bombast is turned against you. Phantom Hourglass' final boss theme is one of the greatest boss themes ever in my opinion, and a standout from otherwise one of my least fave Zeldas.
One amazing song from Skyward Sword was definitely Fi’s Lament. It always give me goosebumps, it was so emotional und I was crying in the end. “May we meet again in another life” 🖤
“The song of healing is really deep and it shows so much”. “Oracle of ages” I don’t f- know” the transition between those lines like u went from making a deep conversation to “I don’t f- know”
You know this franchise hits diff when *almost* every song makes your eyes swell with tears. This game perfectly executes storytelling without words, you could listen to each song and convey exactly what to see or feel.
The cave theme in Breath of the Wild does that for me, especially when you discover the leviathan in Hebra region. There's something so mystically, secretly sad about it.
Finally someone who appreciates the song Bamboo Island on Skyward Sword. I could play that song for hours. Couldn't agree with you more. I love it so much.
I absolutely love the Hyrule Castle (inside) theme from BoTW, mostly because it just gives such an epic, tense, but also kind of sad feel. I love songs in video games that really make you feel something.
Especially when the marching of the soldiers chimes in when you fight an enemy in the castle. Really drives home that you are walking through a battleground.
For Breath of the wild, Hyrule Castle (outside) would have been my choice by a long shot. Its dark foreboding brassy theme goes so well with the treachery of being so close to the end, yet so far in having to traverse your way up that stormy mountain to the castle to finally restore peace after such a long adventure. Then it brings those nostalgic motifs from the main theme to remind you of why you’re doing this. All while that hard hitting piano part fights with your emotions making you feel hopeless in a good way.
don't forget that if you listen close enough to the song the beat sounds like soldiers marching. It's always given of the vibe that the soldiers who passed when the Calamity broke free are still there, continuing to fight, even if all that remains of them is their will to fight on.
I always felt like breath of the wild was kind of a greatest hits kind of game. They incorporated a lot of music and sounds from the other games to create new songs. The epic orchestral version of the LOZ 1 overworld for hyrule castle was pretty awesome.
Everything you said about Spirit Tracks is spot on. I replayed the game a while ago and it sometimes felt like a chore but I'm dead serious when I say I did it to get to the final boss again. When you finish the duet with Zelda and the weak point starts to glow my skin turns into the surface of a damn cactus. Also slowly walking up the tower of gods and listening to the music building up is amazing.
For Oracle of Ages, one that sticks out to me is Outside Ancient Tomb. It’s a really climactic area theme that fits walking around a Lynel-Infested ruined land on your way to the last dungeon. It also plays in Seasons while the ship starts sailing out of Subrosa, but I remember it more fondly in Ages.
Some of your omissions blew my mind considering what you included in their place (Grandma's Theme as the best from Wind Waker? Ganon's Theme over Dark World? Eh?) But each to their own I guess. Great video!
This franchise has been a big part of my life growing up. Ik skyward sword has just been remastered but I haven’t really felt bothered to play it as my schedule has gotten really busy the past few years.

I absolutely love this list. Wind Waker is my favorite video game of all time and my pick for its best song is the end credits/title theme. The end credits is slightly different but in a good way and it brings forth emotions I cannot really express in words but I feel at peace once it concludes.
It was weird for me playing Ocarina of Time. There were so many songs that came at me during an obviously formative time in my early childhood. But there was something about the songs in conjunction with the whole layout and aesthetic of the game. It just… captured a feeling I can’t quite put my finger on. The feeling of being on the threshold of the unknown, where either it be an adventure in game or some other hidden secret lay around every corner, but also resonating with you for years later as such a nostalgic experience, and it all stems from the music. Such a great arrangement of soundtracks.
My favorite from Majoras Mask is the astral observatory, it was one of the only times in a video game where I have gone back to play the game JUST to hear that song. It's so damn good. It definitely fits the game really well, it's really cool and mystical but also somehow feels really sad, like you go to an observatory and can see the moon that is gonna literally kill everyone you know and obliterate the town in just a few days. At the same time there's a psychedelic magician and the path to it is through the sewers. And when you enter the room, it fades from black to light, there's a cave noise behind you, a chicken cluck, and then the music starts, it was all 100000% planned to make it cooler. Also I understand the whole your opinion thing and ik it was a joke but it was a damn crime you didn't choose ballad of the goddess for skyward sword.
Twilight Princess is my favorite game. If I had to pick Midna's Lament probably is my favorite track. But damn it's hard to choose from my favorite game, Lake Hylia, Ordon Village, Snowpeak Ruins to name a few great tracks
i immediately went to the skyward sword section hoping you would choose the EXACT theme i was thinking of and you did 😭 i love bamboo island sm and its literally such a tiny and insignificant island, they had no right to go so hard
OoT had a ton of great tracks. Gerudo's Valley is amazing how it brings up even more the sense of adventure. Majora's mask selected song was superb. And Rito's Village is a punch on the feelings, and I still didn't got to play the game...
The Song Of Healing is absolutely the best and saddest song ever in a Zelda game next to Midna's Lament. I can't listen to it without getting emotional.
so many good picks!! only thing I think I'd change is the pick for Spirit Tracks (my personal favorite game). The finale music all slaps but I always find myself thinking of the Last Duet, seeing all of the sages show up to play music with you one last time really hits you in the feelings
I am so happy you chose Grandma's theme for WW. It has always been one of my favorite, mainly because when I was little, it literally made me cry for some reason. It it a hilarious and cute childhood story. Means a lot when i don't remember most of my childhood.
It's always a challenge to choose just one song from a Zelda game. There are so many memorable themes that evoke emotions unlike any other OST. It's truly incredible. Whenever I come across a theme song from a Zelda game, I can never simply listen to just one song and be satisfied. I want more and more, as it captivates me completely. It's truly amazing. Great video!
*gasp* How do you not love the ORacle duo!!! Best song of the two is Nayru's theme near the begining, when she's singing. I have literally started the game, gone to where she is, put down my GameBoy Color, and just listened to that. I've also literally put the song on loop on my MP3 player. LOVE that song. OBSESSED.
For Link's Awakening, I think the Face Shrine theme, both in the original and remake are the best. They're a fantastic, heart-wrenching, unsure theme that play in the dungeon following the reveal that the world and people you've formed bonds with could all be fake. Not to mention it comes pretty close after Link's travel with Marin, so the player can really feel the weight Link now carries. It's probably one of the greatest songs in the series because of that.
For me, the best music in Zelda plays in the Mayor's Council in Majoras Mask. This song quite literally introduced me to the Series (through an ad on tv)
I can’t imagine what he would say about TOTK soundtrack, but for me, the greatest Zelda track of all time has got to be the theme playing in the second TOTK trailer, it is just so EPIC
For Breath of the Wild I think it's the Hyrule Castle theme. My favorite detail is the fact that the guardian theme doesn't play when you're in the castle, because the Guardians are unimportant compared to Ganon.
For me my favorite oot song has to be the song of time even if it’s subjectively not the best oot song. It’s by far the most nostalgic for me and a song I find myself humming to myself constantly. Such a beautiful piece
I like A LOT of songs from Breath Of The Wild. I have most of the OST saved to my video game playlist. But two that stand out to me but often get overlooked are The Flight Range (a beautifully relaxing, minimalistic lullabic song that feels like a warm hearth on a lonely mountain. It's such comfort music) and the Gerudo Lookout Outpost (Very similar to The Flight Range in being a lonely minimalistic and extremely relaxing theme on the outskirts of their respective locations.) These songs are probably the most zen in the entire game, and also special since they only play in those two very specific locations. Many songs make you want to explore or fight or do any number of things. Few inspire you to embrace stillness and silence. But Mipha's theme though...
As long as it wasn't the pumpkin mini game theme. It's a high fidelity theme like all the others in Skyward Sword, but when you hear it, you know you're in for aggravation.
Agree with you so much on these! the Song of Healing is gorgeous and gives me the feels, and I am also so sad that they will never make a more plot-heavy Zelda (although I do love ToTK)
Hear me out though… Kass’s song. There was nothing like exploring and then hearing him in the distance. I didn’t care what I was doing I booked it to him everytime. But yeah. The Rito Village theme is great!
Yknow I’m pretty sure this is the video that got me to listen to the Malladus theme and ST Overworld, which I immediately fell in love wirh, whic later led me to very excitedly purchasing Spirit Tracks and making it the first game I’ve finished in a month ever quickly boosting it to one pf my favourite zelda games (which is saying a lot)
Of all the Zelda’s, the flickering boxy DS Zelda’s desperately need to be remade- maybe in a bundle! I’ve never been able to get a working cartridge of Phantom Hourglass but I flippin adored Linebeck’s theme hahaha
Not that I'm overtly particular about who I sub to, but this video is an easy sub to your channel. I came for music suggestions and found myself staying for the jokes and perfectly introspective takes on each song.
For me, the best song is the very last one, the ending theme. It is so rich with varients and emotions. But I also am a sucker for the mayor's meeting music. It's up beat, yet a bit unsettling like most tracks, and the flute is a great addition. Love it.
For me the best Wind waker song has to be the title theme, and for ocarina of time it has to be the end credits theme, or kakariko village, the adult version, or temple of time
"No matter how bad of a situation we are going through, it's import to stop, collect yourself, face the circumstances, and progress forward." Profound.
It’s sad how overlooked the DS games are. As much popularity as Midna got, it’s sad that Linebeck didn’t get any. I think Nintendo really went above and beyond with him and one day I’d love to see some sort of iteration of him return.
i’ve dropped 2,000 hours into botw, for me, it’s hyrule castle. the change between going inside and outside, the melancholy vibe, zelda’s lullaby being incorporated as a motif, it’s beautiful. rito village is amazing, i completely respect it. great video, enjoyed every second. earned my subscription!
For my money, you can never go wrong with any Gerudo Valley song.
Too overplayed literally and figuratively.
This isn’t related to the music but they did them dirty in breath of the wild with the sheikah tower names 💀

@@TabythaK lol same man! I’m 15 rn and my dad was a huge Zelda fan. We both grew up with Zelda, and even now we enjoy watching each other play botw.
5:17 fun fact, I pretty sure that they did that because Twilight Princess Link is a direct descendant of Ocarina of Time Link
It’s so funny that you went from sad, dark and the serious twilight princess to the energetic phantom hourglass 😆
I didn't really think about snowpeak ruins, but yeah! That one is really good! :)
yep Twilight Princess is a masterpiece. I really enjoy the faron woods theme as well! Gives off a very unique vibe that fits the game perfectly.
Give credit to Hyrule Field
So many good ones!! I’ll never get sick of TWP soundtrack 🥰
Credit scene song is the most beautiful song i’ve heard
can’t believe he didn’t even mention the shrine theme or the cave theme for botw they’re both so beautiful and relax any soul to the core
i cant believe he didnt mention the castle theme. that song is a banger
@@Bliviate I can't believe he wouldn't be quiet long enough so I could hear the music... Maybe I'm not the target audience. Oh well, moving on.
I can’t believe he had a different opinion than me.
WHY THE HELL DID THE LAST SONG HIT SO HARD, GOD DAMN!
Because Zelda games are literally the BEST
I actually agree with you on Skyward Sword bamboo island doesn't get the love it deserves.
personally, ballad of the goddess is my fav, the bamboo island troll was funny and its second in my ss ost list.
great job, you got us this time
i immediately went to the skyward sword section hoping you would choose the EXACT theme i was thinking of and you did 😭 i love bamboo island sm and its literally such a tiny and insignificant island, they had no right to go so hard
I used to listen to that song on repeat, and I even learned how to play it on guitar I loved it so much. I was so glad when I saw he picked it😭
@@reeserichardson947 omg is there any chance i can hear it???? 😭
Linebeck‘s theme is one of my all time favourites! I’m so glad you chose this one, it’s sooo underrated 😍
I can't listen to it without getting emotional.
basic b
It gives me chills every time, especially the backwards version after watching that stupid Ben video
Fi’s Farewell kills me as well! I tear up every time
Song of Healing, Final Hours, and Oath to Order. Majora’s Mask is king of depressing Zelda music
so many good picks!! only thing I think I'd change is the pick for Spirit Tracks (my personal favorite game).
OBSESSED.
that skyward sword choice is crazy, I'm at the verge of tears
For Link's Awakening, I think the Face Shrine theme, both in the original and remake are the best. They're a fantastic, heart-wrenching, unsure theme that play in the dungeon following the reveal that the world and people you've formed bonds with could all be fake. Not to mention it comes pretty close after Link's travel with Marin, so the player can really feel the weight Link now carries. It's probably one of the greatest songs in the series because of that.
It's fun to see some sort of pattern throughout your favorite music. I personally am all over boss music because they're just so damn epic.
For me, the best music in Zelda plays in the Mayor's Council in Majoras Mask. This song quite literally introduced me to the Series (through an ad on tv)
You overlooked Gerudo Valley theme? Bruv? Why? What is this man? I got to 1:38 and I don’t even wanna hear it. Thanks Voyan 👍
Hero's legend is my favourite from windwaker - when I was playing and saw grandma depressed I actually broke down into tears myself
I can’t imagine what he would say about TOTK soundtrack, but for me, the greatest Zelda track of all time has got to be the theme playing in the second TOTK trailer, it is just so EPIC
I say this all the time but other than Ballad of the Goddess, Romance in the Air is my favorite track from SS.
"Tireless hero" ? Really? He needs to be waken up from deep slumber in every single game :D
I clicked so fast when I saw this notification. Love your videos man, keep the great work up.
For Breath of the Wild I think it's the Hyrule Castle theme. My favorite detail is the fact that the guardian theme doesn't play when you're in the castle, because the Guardians are unimportant compared to Ganon.
One of my favourite zelda songs which technically isn't a zelda song but also technically is is the calm overworld music for Cadence of Hyrule
But Mipha's theme though...
so many emotions watching 😭😭🙏 thank u sm
You made the correct choice for Skyward Sword. Well done
As long as it wasn't the pumpkin mini game theme. It's a high fidelity theme like all the others in Skyward Sword, but when you hear it, you know you're in for aggravation.
13:52
Song of the hero?
Sealed temple is the correct choice
The correct choice is lake floria
Farewell Hyrule King from Wind Waker is in my head constantly at work. It's been this way for years. Such a bop. That piano goes so hard.
Tremendous song, might be the best in the entire series.
Always happy to hear the boy talk about some good Vidja game OSTs
Agree with you so much on these! the Song of Healing is gorgeous and gives me the feels, and I am also so sad that they will never make a more plot-heavy Zelda (although I do love ToTK)
Hear me out though… Kass’s song. There was nothing like exploring and then hearing him in the distance. I didn’t care what I was doing I booked it to him everytime.
But yeah. The Rito Village theme is great!
exactly what i was thinking
Yknow I’m pretty sure this is the video that got me to listen to the Malladus theme and ST Overworld, which I immediately fell in love wirh, whic later led me to very excitedly purchasing Spirit Tracks and making it the first game I’ve finished in a month ever quickly boosting it to one pf my favourite zelda games (which is saying a lot)
lol the music is more than enough to convince someone to buy the game. its too good
Love the transistions, nicely edited my dude!
Of all the Zelda’s, the flickering boxy DS Zelda’s desperately need to be remade- maybe in a bundle! I’ve never been able to get a working cartridge of Phantom Hourglass but I flippin adored Linebeck’s theme hahaha
Of the overall franchise I like the windmill hut theme the best. Idk why, but it just got a different feeling for me than any other theme.
Not that I'm overtly particular about who I sub to, but this video is an easy sub to your channel. I came for music suggestions and found myself staying for the jokes and perfectly introspective takes on each song.
Great picks! For the Malladus one, theres a great orchestral cover that I'd like to recommend. You should search up "The Sacred Duet"
I’m glad you’re a Majoras Mask fan too and honestly I was waiting to see what (how) you could pick the best soundtrack there, it’s impossible!
For me, the best song is the very last one, the ending theme. It is so rich with varients and emotions. But I also am a sucker for the mayor's meeting music. It's up beat, yet a bit unsettling like most tracks, and the flute is a great addition. Love it.
I am so incredibly pleased to hear someone finally giving bamboo island the respect it deserves
Sure but Romance in the Air is better
Great call on Midna's Lament. I still remember the urgency and stress I felt with that song.
For Ocarina of Time i think Gerudo Valley is one of the best ones.
I feel like "present at peace" is the second best song in skyward sword, only losing to groose's theme
For me the best Wind waker song has to be the title theme, and for ocarina of time it has to be the end credits theme, or kakariko village, the adult version, or temple of time
The begging of nintendo to go plot heavy was so relatable.......... especially after TOTK...... i am depressed now :(
I love spirit tracks sm. same. good music choice
Loved the video. Some of this tracks hit right in the feels... lol
I adore the breath of the wild ost so much
You mean the few twings and pings it gives us lol
@@spicybeantofu There are more compositions in that game than any other Zelda game.
@@spicybeantofu guess you never played it (with sound)
Missing Tal Tal Heights and Song of Storms... they slap!
14:23 I spit my drink out om my lord, but you ain't wrong
So glad that Spirit Tracks got a good bit of attention. My favorite game by far.
same
"No matter how bad of a situation we are going through, it's import to stop, collect yourself, face the circumstances, and progress forward."
Profound.
Respect for going with your personal favorites over the popular picks, but man ballad of the wind fish had me crying
It’s sad how overlooked the DS games are. As much popularity as Midna got, it’s sad that Linebeck didn’t get any. I think Nintendo really went above and beyond with him and one day I’d love to see some sort of iteration of him return.
It's amazing to me just how different our song choices are. We don't have a single favorite in common lol.
For spirit tracks i would have to go the overworld theme. Its so adventurous and catchy
I was praying to hear the rito village or rivali's theme on here and I thought it wouldn't make it but I'm so glad it did at the end.
Was so pleasantly surprised with your wind waker choice!
Ocarina of Time can be summed up in one sentence: It's the only game you never got past the title screen in (But in a good way)
Oath to Order superior to Song of Healing.
Also Midna's Lament suffered from the enemy music interrupting it.
i’ve dropped 2,000 hours into botw, for me, it’s hyrule castle. the change between going inside and outside, the melancholy vibe, zelda’s lullaby being incorporated as a motif, it’s beautiful. rito village is amazing, i completely respect it. great video, enjoyed every second. earned my subscription!
