Great work mate. Good to see you making the best of a bad situation. Looking forward to seeing what you guys end up going with. We too are planing a year travel around oz with our two little ones.
It’s a tricky time at the moment mate but it’ll get better eventually and when you hit the road you’ll love it that much more. We’ve been on the road just over one year now and are currently in Tassie. We have some work and are bunkering down for as long as we can or hopefully as long as the isolation is in place and then can get back to exploring again. Good call on the the sat phone. We used our in Cape York to get a tow after overheating. Worth every cent considering what might have been if I didn’t have it. Love your channel and hope you guys keep well through this period.
Love the videos guys. At the end of the day you just make the best of things, gives you more time to save a bit more money which might mean you can afford to do that extra tour or have a meal at a cool pub where you might not have before. As for the camper you won’t look back from having a little more indoor space as well as a shower and toilet. We did the lap in a van with 95% of our time free camping and the show/toilet is invaluable. The one thing I’d add to that is a bladder to bring water back to camp to refill is also awesome.
Thanks for sharing your personal feelings etc. You are a lovely couple (triple). Nice mods to the vehicle setup. Interested to see the new rig. The trip will come.
Great update. Looking forward to see what van you get. Sounds like something I would buy. On the Toyos I also heard a few bad things. They also same people as coopers. I went with falken wildpeaks. Ian differ had them for like 280 for a 265/70/17. Bargain. Give them a crack I reckon. Cheers folks was gold. Enjoy and stay safe 👍🏻🤙🏼
Good job all this madness started before you hit the road. So many people now stranded out there without any decent place to hunker down for a while. We seemed to have timed Dorothy's knee replacement just right as we have been in our own version of lock down since March 5th :)
Really unfortunate for you mate! I know how long you prepare for these things and how much thought and effort goes into it. As far as content goes I feel you there we will dry up soon. Anyway hope the family stays safe mate 👍🏽
Gday Cam, yeah everything sucks at this present time. I had some cousin's with families as well as a couple of uncle n aunties heading up from different places in Victoria to the cape. And the day b4 they are leaving we had my Nana's 90th birthday up in the Mallee. 😢 Very sad cause the misses was looking forward to going camping with some friends.
Hard Luck guys!.....Look forward to seeing what you get! We're sort of in the same boat. We've got an "Ultimate Camper Trailer" and are looking at all the Hybrid options! Some of the "Chinese" one's look very good, my only concern is the build quality and the like.....I hate not knowing if something is going to hold up when traveling! Anyway love ya work and really like the way you explain everything in layman's terms. Take it easy eh.👍🍻
Cheers Jamie. Yeah there's no doubt the Chinese stuff is a bit of a gamble. But in saying that, our forward fold has been brilliant and never let us down. Appreciate the support mate!
Good to see you're still working towards the big trip and improving the experience! We all appreciate any content that gets thrown up too mate, it helps in times like these you have a laugh and escape reality for a bit!
I dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I love any tricks you can give me!
@Gael Trenton thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Im feeling ur pain mate, i was suppose 2 leave for my big lap on the 20th april for 5 months, not much else we can do mate, love ur vids, keep em coming, If ur stuck 4 ideas, what about a home made 20l gravity fed jerry can with hose attachment. 😉😉
Bought 5 of them just over 18 months ago. Two have already had to be replaced due to blowing out. Another one needs replacing because it has a split in the sidewall AND a chunk missing from the bead. Almost every time I deflate them I have at least one of them start leaking from the bead (despite being removed and refitted to the rim by reputable tyre shops a couple of times now). I actually thought I had a dud set and contact toyo, they said there was no issues with my batch and said it will be me underinflating them. I gave them some information on terrain and my axle weights etc and they suggested not to deflate below 30psi offroad 😂 it's 3t at touring weight, not overly heavy for a touring rig. 30psi on the beach would not be fun...
Hey Cam, would be very interested in seeing a D-Max portable homebrew set up, even as a proof of concept for me to base off. Would really appreciate a video, cheers mate keep up the good work!
I'll definitely do a vid on it in the future, was hoping it would be a vid on the road though. But if you follow us on facebook I'll post some pics this week of it
Yeah may follow suit with a few cook ups. Haha well I freaked out last week with the premiers announcement of restricted liquor sales and stocked up on a HEAP of ingredients. Just my usual keg filler - coopers Australian pale ale can with 1kg of DME and a heavy galaxy dry hop. Been experimenting with Kveik yeast, pretty impressed with the speed and temperatures it will finish in!
Just so you know you are not alone I planned to spend 12 months on the road myself this year. But it looks like my leave will be postponed and I will be at work for a bit longer.
Bugger mate, next year will be very interesting as nature has had a chance to recover. Fishing as well should be better. Good decision on the sat phone. I also disliked the toyos. Stay safe guys 🤙
Thanks guys. Hope you're keeping safe! Was so excited for this year with the great wet season we had, but you're right - next year will be really interesting after a lot of fragile areas have had a chance to regrow with so little traffic!
It sucks that you've had to postpone your lap but it's great to see you moving ahead with plans to do it when life returns to normal. "Cheers folks" 😂 Too cute 👍👍
Mate, youve made the same hard decision me and the misso have just made. Luckily the decision wasnt too hard in the end as you dont really even have a choice. Were due to leave next week for an extended big lap trip. Will be stoked to get away before the end of the year but who knows if that can happen yet!
Awesome Vid mate. Will be hitting you up when I’m ready to buy a rig as totally in love with your set up and a wife that is a coffee snob 🤣 Stay safe with fam 🤙🏻
If you are looking at a hybrid camper - Check out the R2 by Lifestyle. It’s tough as, and can be pulled anywhere. Plus you can custom the inside for the family. I have one and live in Perth if you want to see one in the flesh
Thanks mate! Has definitely been on our radar. We nearly pulled the trigger on a breakaway a couple of years ago. Would get a r4 in a heart beat if we could afford one.
Hey mate heart breaking about having to postpone your trip, but like you said it could be so much worse!!You had me chuckling at the beginning....I mean come on, what else are you going to do during isolation.Cant wait to see what hybrid you decide on, I know thats a conversation we have had in the past!!
We use the Cel Fi at work in the bush for our drill office mate and they are awesome. But we use a Yagi directional antenna. Not sure how the normal antenna would go. Should be fine. Nice set up mate. Shouldn't go anywhere without a sat phone handy stuff to have. Bit of a shame about what's going on. I just bought a camper as well. Can't take it out for a while.
Spewing you can't get the new camper out. What did you get? Have been looking at the possibility of some sort of portable yagi antenna setup. Might be an option.
@@WildTouring bought a Stoney Creek SCFF Gen 2 from the guys in Gnangara. Mint looking campers. Can't wait to pick it up. I wouldn't bother with a Yagi. Only really works if it's stationary.
@@sdrhodes82 the stoney creeks look great. Was on my short list when we bought our Track Star. Have been on the FB owners page for ages and pretty much only see positive feedback!
@@WildTouring yeah same. I had a look at the Trackstar and also had that short-listed. The show price and extras on the SC got it over the line for me.
If you haven't decided on canvas bags yet check out the crib bags and ppe bags made by Rugged Xtremes their warehouse is in Midvale. I got some for work and ended up kitting out the camper with the along with some grab me gear stuff. The blokes helpful as and did us a good deal
Falken at3 best value tire I've had, had toyos kuhmos maxxis Bridgestone and yokohamas and none of them compare to my falkens , done nearly 100,000 k on them set of 4 been from Broome to epserance and most places in-between and still have 10mm tread and never even done as much as a leaky bead and they have been worked hard from the beach to tough mud climbs
Hahaha. Yeaaaaaaaah can't argue with that. It's all a compromise though. For overnighters and shorter trips I still reckon a little hard floor is the go!
Really enjoying your videos - great WA content! Awesome tip on the Boost mobile coverage being with all Telstra towers - going to swap to the 12 month plan now! Cheers guys - Jon & Bec @pathfindn on instagram 👍
@@WildTouring btw we tried the idea of sticking a dash organiser vertically to the side of our console with heavy duty 3m Velcro but after a trip or 2 it detached - need to find a heavier duty solution :D
