Got to tell ya buddy . I LIVE JUST 8 MILES outside of Galesburg in south a knoxville and east a Abington And if you ever make it back this way your welcome to stay. I'm far enough out in the sticks and have enough property you can play Galesburg and stay here for free. Well maybe a song.🤣 Been listening to you for a while now. Wish I'd have known ya Back when you were here.
It was a great idea! Please do more stuff like this! I love your music Willie, if I may call you that. Greetings from the other side of the world, you help me remember all the parts of America that I love
Dylan Earl has a hell of a voice. And when Willie Carlisle sings god you can feel that he has lived that life. Nick shoulders voice reminds me of 1920’s barber shop...
I’m in my garden in Oregon, cigarettes, booze and reefer at the ready. Also, cleaning out my van from my foray into the hashtag vanlife episode in my life. 😂😂😂
I used to sing punk music. I hid all the country/Folk songs I wrote until I found these guys. So grateful for this channel for helping me find my sound.
Wow! Sheriff Baker. I grew up in Madison county, raised by Outlaws. Growing weed in the 80s was some sketchy shit. Sheriff Baker was pretty well known to disappear the competition. My initiation tthe concept of cops being armed and dangerous. Thanks, Nick for reminding me of home.
Thankyou WesternAF, thankyou UA-cam, thankyou Internet, thankyou Willi Carlisle, Nick Shoulders and Dylan Earl, thankyou world for making things like this possible. Greetings from Germany!
I'm from Lake Tahoe but lived in Arkansas from 2016-2019 and Hot Springs is the only place I've ever felt at home. I had to come back to Nevada because my mother was dying, and to just stumble across this video today has brought me to more tears than I want to admit haha. I saw Dylan Earl open up for Lost Dog in Little Rock a few years ago and loved the guy and was just blown away by this synchronicity today. Thanks guys! Miss you Arkansas
On a serious note, I've lived in AR all my life. I left to live in Alaska for a time and then Ohio. As soon as the pandemic started I felt I had to come back. Best decision I made. It truly is my home.
@@GregHalvorson correct, but it feels as though I am there shooting the shit and trading songs WITH them because of the camera work and their general demeanor
Dylan Earl‘s song buddy is one of my favorite traveling songs I’ve ever heard. Now van life is one of my favorites too. I don’t think you can talk about traveling songs without mentioning buddy and van life. Or at least I can’t, not any more. Three of my favorite folk singers in one show. The stuff dreams are made of. The pinnacle of good living, reminds me of my traveling days driving around the country tattooing an making art. Thankfully the world is opening back up and the road is calling my name. I hope I can catch a live show. Thank you fellas 🙏🏽
I'd love to hear Buddy again and again and again. I come back to this recording every so often and it's such a gift. Each song has so much emotion behind it. Positively Epic Session!
God damn I love that recording, beautiful music from y'all Love that ending too, " Have a good night y'all, say no to fascism". I sure will say no to fascism!💚
Lookin at it from the front, it looks like that candles burnin up that guitar microphone! The cracklin of the fire.just adds an element of character. Happy trails!
this is the best version of Dylan earl-one more time. i have listened to the few he has out there and this one needs to be on Spotify. the song seems much more personal and up front with out a band too. it lacks nothing in this format.
Just wanted to thank y’all for this. Brought back a lot of memories of when my brother lived at a punk house in Hammond Indiana by the rail yard. Lots of traveling musicians and punks and the stories and memories. It was called the BACH (big ass collective house).
At first I was thinking " What a good-looking group of country guys!", but suddenly Shoulders starts yodelling, and then I need to lean in a little closer for Willi's lyrics, and finally Dylan's deep gentle voice to puts me back down on the ground where I belong. I'm in love!
I need “buddy” on repeat for the rest of my life. What a great song. Hats off to the whole crew! And thank you Western AF for putting the pieces together
How wonderfully authentic and genuine that was! Warmed my heart completely! Thanks fellas. There’s thousands of us out here watching that would give up up a kidney for one night just like this! (Well a finger at least!) 👌🎶🤘
You all are great! Just great. I would’ve given my big toes to be at that campfire. I was hooked from the first song, AND THEN, you had to double down with the Revisionist History references AND the best owl calls I’ve heard since I was a kid. Thank you all for doing your thing. It’s beautiful.
Shoot, thanks folks. This was definitely an off-the-cuff idea, and it's Western AF that made it real and made it sound so good!
Willi you rock man!
Phil Ochs
Cuz we are the cops of the world boys..

Better music in that hour than in any modern country award show.
With you there brother, sick name btw
Who watches awards shows?
Yes! The so called “country” on the radio today is utterly disappointing!
So crazy what's on the radio vs this type of sound. Wish it wasn't so.
That second Willie song had me tearin up. I will always be moved by how much emotion he puts into his music.
I actually don't know how I got here but I sure glad I did
Many days like that ,many many nights tho😆
Ha! Me too! Welcome awesome friends!
I blacked out and woke up with a mullet. What happened?
Can’t get enough of Nick shoulders
Dylan Earl has a hell of a voice. And when Willie Carlisle sings god you can feel that he has lived that life. Nick shoulders voice reminds me of 1920’s barber shop...
Dylan's voice is dreamy af.
Aaaah...Nick. A fine Irish tenor he be.
@@NitaKerns Buddy is so fuckin good I cry every single time and thats before he even sings.
I come back to listen to Dylan, his solo acoustics are the best
Nick's voice reminds me of Slim Whitman
Sitting in my car at 4am, which I live in, saving up for van. I really enjoyed this van life jam.
Did you get your van yet?
Stay warm!
DIdya buy the van?
We gotta know about that van, bud.
I am now heavily invested... Let's find this gentleman and get him in a damned van at least!
Seeing these guys playing for the fun and messing up is awfully comforting. Like jamming with the buddies and fuckin up.
Definately. Can't help but to smile at it! ...shucks... 🍻
That was so outdoorsy I got a couple of mosquito bites just listenin'.
my belly turned into a beer belly
what a poet and philosopher. Gamble Rogers' spirit lives. so happy to have discovered on WSM AM radio this morning
Watching from Scotland ! Cigarettes, reefer , coffee and booze.
I spent the first half of my life on cigarettes and booze, I prefer to spend the second half on coffee and reefer!
booze, then reefer then maybe a herbal tea

this is some wholesome ass stuff to discreetly play in your headphones at work ngl.
Damn you just spelled out my last hour at work made my day honestly
You simultaneously described the next hour of my workday.
Will is that you?
Literally me right now

those two are closer than you think and both equally enjoyable 😉
@@hanskloss1331 Way closer. Theres a whole slew of weirdos out there like trainhoppers who's lives are pure punk and pure folk.

Wish this were about 3 hours longer. Could listen all night.
Willie is absolutely phenomenal. I’ve been infatuated with Van Life for the past year. What a trip. Thank ya Doc.

Man I wish everyone could see how much authentic hip hop and country have in common. It's music of the ppl and the real deal is easy to see.

Oh my gosh, freaking feel like I'm there around a good old fashioned fire.. Like rain like a good ol fashioned fire, just wonderful guys!
Watching Nick double over laughing while Willi sings Van Life is bringing me so much joy.
I can't get enough of these three!
I think I might have stumbled upon a good time
This is literally so fucking cute that i shed a tear or two lmao. Little Goth on the Praire ..

That wind hitting the mic on top of the song gave me chills during Willi's second song
Music is the way the gods speak
Western AF and The Next Waltz are just absolutely amazing
I need a Western AF bumper sticker to put next to my Bigfoot Flipping off sticker. This made my evening!
This is the best hour I've spent in a very long time.
I feel like Willi Carlisle could do a great version of you can have the crown.
I agree
I don’t do this often , but I can’t wait for Friday when I get off work, I’m gonna drink some whiskey and watch this again
I'll come back to this to listen to multiple times buddy

Howdy from Arkansas! This was lovely and fun
Still the best 2 years later
Tuned in cos I love NS but Willies Van Life song was hot as hell ❤️ some outstanding lines in that story 😉
Good video and great music. Just wish you guys had a sponsor instead of letting UA-cam shoehorn it’s ads into the middle of every song
Need one of these again Fellas, watching this makes me feel at ease.
