- September 19, 2018 - Austin-native Shakey Graves performs a full concert live at Boston’s House of Blues. Alejandro Rose-Garcia (aka Shakey Graves) is known for his stripped-down one-man-band style fusion of blues, folk, and rock playing his signature suitcase-turned-kick-drum along with raw, aggressive guitar & vocals. On this Wednesday night in Boston, Shakey delivered plenty of that signature sound mixed in with a full rock band arrangement joined by drummer Chris Boosahda, guitarist Patrick O’Connor and bassist John Shaw.

Every live performance is varied, and it adds such dimension to each song. It's like covers of his own songs. It's genius. Took the wife to see him live in Birmingham, UK. Drove 2 hrs on a weeknight. Wu-tang was playing upstairs. He comes out in a budweiser shirt and a Wu-tang hat and kills it with his basic setup and a moog synth. I'll never forget it.

I seen him play in Dallas, after the show was over and the crowd cleared out, I looked on the ground and seen a piece of paper. I pick it up, and lord behold, It was the set list from that night! Cool little piece to have to remember the night!
Also I would like to point out how good his band is. To play with Shakey you have to be on another level!

Literally the most talented musician that has ever graced a stage. I’ve been fortunate enough to watch him live, twice, and they were the BEST concerts I’ve ever witnessed. By and large my favorite all-time musician. Nobody comes close, for me, personally to his creativity, his sounds, his voice, energy, liveliness, positivity and talent. Then he had the rest of his buddies jump on stage with him and start recording with him. They’re just as amazing, because they’re able to keep up with him! Boo is especially amazing. Great job, fellas. Can’t frickin’ wait to see you again.

Shakey’s ability to keep you guessing is unbelievable. At 8:35 the extra note repeated is subtle, yet adds so much to the song. There’s hundreds of examples of that through this live set.

All I’m saying is this crowd is not nearly as hype as they should be. Maybe it’s the recording but they seem dead. When I saw shakey in Toronto last May... that place was fucking INSANE!!! People were dancing up and down the isles of the theater, scream their hearts and lungs out singing every song word for word. It’s a real shame this crowd isn’t as intense as I would hope. Dude!!! ITS SHAKEY FUCKING GRAVES!!! One of the only true talents still alive/touring. This man is a walking legend. Not to mention his band is phenomenal. If you get the chance to see him live... GO!!!!
I was at this show and best believe my crew of 15 were dancing our asses off the whole time. Thank gosh for this recording because I didn't watch a second of this set. I agree though, the rest of the crowd was lame af.
