Washington State does not keep track of contractors’ insurance policies or numbers. That’s BS.

I didn’t have good experience with Realm , Ryan
Oh no, please tell me about itt. You can post here or write to me at ryan@how-to-adu.com
I hired a Plumping company that got amazing Yelp reviews and have ADU experience, it turns out that they didn't know what they were doing. They do not dig their trenches deep enough to properly buried the sewer pipes.
Oh no! Any advice for other people?
@@HowToADU My best advice for people is research, research, research. You need to know as much as possible. Every step of the way. Ask as many questions as you can and what the process is. That was my biggest mistake was not knowing every step of the process. You don't need to know how to do it, you just need to know how it's done. By not knowing all the steps has already cost me $10,000 in mistakes. Or hired a retired contractor to review steps and process if things should be done the way it was done. Before and after the Contractor work. It cost money but in the long haul, it may be worth it.
Honestly, some inspectors are good, and some are horrible. One inspector approved a job that was not supposed to pass in the first place. Another didn't even bother to do anything...he just signed the paperwork. Until I complained about shouldn't he test something. The third inspector was actually good and went over things with me and told me what I needed to do.
Another thing if anyone decides to hire non contractor, I suggest that you don't pay until the city inspector passes the inspection first.
Question for Matt. What about client privacy? If one of the steps in the vetting process is interviewing former clients of an ADU builder, does that mean these ADU builders give out client contact info?
That would be a tough job.
What a great video!!!!!
Thanks for watching
When do you expect CALFHA to announce what the $50,000,000 will be used for?
I would love to get my hands on one of these grants myself. There was money there when I started looking into ADU but I was only looking to do a garage conversion. Now, I think I also want to do a stand alone ADU., along with the garage ADU.
They sent an email out with the phrase “over the coming months” x.com/howtoadu/status/1681722803475873792?s=46&t=5p9A9JHoKVbenD8Jy9NFsw
omg that thumbnail RYAN! Awesome vid
Hehe.
Great Video and soils information!
great video...i want to see the recommendations that you made in the corner of the screens but they didnt show up.
Thanks for watching. Which part are the corner recommendations in?
@@HowToADU at the end of the video you point to the corners of the screen to watch two other videos however they are not showing up when you point.
Nice, so basic, and common, however many homeowners still can use this information. I like the way he still gives credit to the contractors being good at what they do, just lack experience in the digital marketing area. Many contractors specially newbies in ADU's are good at what they do, they just need that opportunity. I enjoyed the video. It educates not just the homeowner, but the contractor just starting or en-route to being an ADU builder.
Thanks for watching and sharing that perspective. It’s so true that a lot of the best builders don’t spend a lick of time on marketing/reviews/online presence! They’re busy building
Hey Ryan by the way this is JuanCarlos as you can see now I started a Junk Removal business, Yes while I wait for my general contractors license and I finish school I am free lancing working with a few garage conversion contractors and hauling trash. It's nice to see this type of content teaching the up and coming contractor what to look for. Again thanks and thanks to your host. @@HowToADU
Nice. That’s a good business to get into! Let me know if you ever find any of that 1950s Danish furniture when you’re hauling. People throw away the darndest things ;)
I sure will. Yes you would be surprised at what I have thrown away in just a few weeks in business. @@HowToADU
