How to connect IP cameras over a network using a PoE switch with 2 Uplink Ports

  • In this video we show another popular method of connecting IP cameras to a network for recording. In this example the PoE switch acts as the central location where the router and NVR communicate. You can also use this style of setup for a standalone IP camera system without an internet connection.

    Would it work if you connect the NVR to the router instead of the Poe switch since the POE switch is already connected to the router?

      Yes, as long as all of the devices are inter-connected via a router or switch they can communicate with one another.

    Excellent, now I can just have one point of access to the nvr (1cable) for 3 cables going to the cameras instead of having to run them all to the nvr thinga me jig. I have the option to just have one cable going to the nvr and a junction box so to speak :)
