BMW M6 GT3 Testing at Monza Circuit!

- One of the GT3-class cars that I always have struggled to record is for sure the BMW M6. After a video I uploaded in 2016 when the M6 GT3 was a freshly unveiled car, for a series of coincidences and perhaps bad luck I hardly managed to bring home some related material in the following years.
Last August during a test day by Kateyama at Monza Circuit I finally accumulated a fair number of scenes to be able to assemble a dedicated video, also thanks to my friend Italiansupercarvideo.
The M6 GT3 is powered by the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine derived from the street-legal M6. Watch it in action around the Italian track last year plus some scenes I recorded in 2019 during another test day.

I've actually grown quite used to the sound. Quiet sure, but actually still pretty fun to hear. I saw it at Sebring in both 2018 and 2019; The M6 and the M8 coming out of turn 4 sounded the best with the turbo winding up as they began to accelerate. I wish I had taken a video now XD

This is because of the exhaust setup. This car has basically something similar to 180 degree headers. This is why it sounds a bit more like a 4 cylinder or a flatplane v8 rather than a more “traditional” crossplane v8, which it is.

Sounds quite good! Sad that it's one of the quietest GT3 cars out there but it has great Watergate noises and has a nice deep tone! Will miss it when its gone too. Most people complained at the size but even seeing one in person, it's not that big

But not that quiet. When the car comes full power, slam the brakes and shifts down, the blow off is so fkn loud. At least on the Nordschleife

Yeah I'm sorry to have stopped uploading binaural videos. In late 2019 I bought a new binaural mic which I planned to extensively use during 2020 events, mainly for its ease of use (I just have to place it on a tripod and press the recording button and in the meantime I can do both my typical 'standard' videos or taking some pictures). Its only flaw is that it's a lot of additional equipment to carry around, in addition to everything that I already carry with me. Then the pandemic period came and all my plans went to hell. Why? Because during lockdown I uploaded with my usual frequency 'standard stereo videos' I produced in previous years and I almost risked to run out of uploadable material. I've decided to come across some compromises for my channel and one of them is the constancy of my uploads. Binaural videos have always been an extra and for my personal likings I want to produce them as just single general videos from each event (so 1 event = 1 video). It's not my aim to try and record every single cars with this mic like I generally do with my stereo equipment (as in this M6 GT3 video). So having to look at producing and putting aside more material for another eventual lockdown/shortage of events, I preferred to record with the standard stereo equipment and bring home an average of 10-15 videos from each of those few events I managed to attend in the last 365 days. I should have 2-3 more binaural videos left to be uploaded but either being not perfect (one is a night rally stage so you can't see barely nothing) or being very particular (me walking around Imola with some F1 and Ferrari XX cars) I'll probably put them on my second channel in the future.
I really really hope to use more that special mic in 2021. Fingers crossed! And sorry for the long message

Hey! No need to apologize, I know these videos aren't easy to make. I don't mind the long post either, I like that you took the time to explain. I'm just happy there's a channel that lets the cars talk for themselves, with no garbage music played over them.
And now you've gotten paddock and in car footage so don't worry, I'm not complaining! I didn't expect every video you did to be in binaural either, that would be cruel lol. Besides, I feel like that audio would be better used for special occasions, like rare, historical, special or amazing sounding cars.
I think of this channel in part as a documentary and archive. Future generations will be glad these videos exist, they might never see/hear a car with an internal combustion engine in person!
Anyway, keep up the good work!
@@jonas.7567 the blow off valve is loud but the car is very quiet otherwise, i was literally right next to the track @ the Rolex 24 hr and i could barley hear it.
Interesting to note how they have opted for a softer suspension setup at Monza, most likely to achieve better turn-in on entry to the two chicanes.
Wonder how it would sound normally aspirated? I wish. Just a muted turbo. Thanks for more videos Bozzy!

Perdona l'off topic, ma per caso sarai presente al rally di Monte Carlo 2021?
No quest'anno ho deciso di rimanere a casa. Avevo già prenotato a dicembre nel caso ci fossero state le giuste congiunzioni astrali e avrebbero fatto il rally senza restrizioni per il pubblico. Poi hanno annunciato che si sarebbe svolto in assenza di pubblico (''assenza'' tra virgolette) quindi di farmi tutto il viaggio con il rischio di essere bloccato ai punti di accesso non è una cosa che mi fa impazzire. E per di più odio rischiare di lasciar giù soldi inutili per possibili multe. Peccato perchè quest'anno è forse un vero e proprio Monte Carlo con tanta neve sulle prove... Spero che la situazione a metà anno migliori leggermente da poter fare un'altra tappa del mondiale ;)

@@randomstuff-id8bs - the three colors are supposed to represent BMW's M Motorsport division. Even their show liveries sport the same design.
One of the most underwhelming sounding racecars ever -- right after the Audi Turbo-diesels. I saw them at an IMSA event and to be honest, you couldn't hear them at all compared to the Ford GTs, Porsche RSRs and Corvettes. No wonder you never were able to get some good recordings of it. Unless it was a private test day, it would have been drowned out by any other cars at the track. I have no idea if this was intentional or just a function of their turbo systems.

Because this is their GT3-class race car since 2016, while the M8 has been used for the GTE-class. M6 GT3 is going to be replaced by the M4 GT3
