Well, I had an error 7 (Hotpoint FTCF 87 8kg) and the instructions said it needed a new PCB. I tried this simple fix and guess what! It worked. Thanks Darren 👏👏👏
I just replaced the whole heating element (done it before on old dryer) . Worked fine but could smell burning. Online said that’s normal with new element & dust kicked up. Checked back later and not heating up. Don’t know if I have a bad one and can get money back. However I do have the relatively new element from the previous dryer. Motor went on it so not worth replacing. I kept some bits thinking that it could come in handy. Anyway, my question is, are the thermostats generally the same? Only reason I couldn’t use the old element was the plugs being different, apart from that it looks the same.
Will this smoke a little the first time you run it? I also removed kind of a paste gathered where this heat element goes was all around the fan to, smelled like washing powder or so.
Hi Darren, I have the exact same dryer and the same problem to replace, I don't know what that small part is called. Could you paste the link here, please? Thanks in advance :)
Hi , I have the Indesit idc85uk , working , spinning but not heating, took out the heating unit , now to test it ; should I connect it with tumble dryer or connect the power plug , ? I don’t know how to test it
Hello , On the back of the machine to the bottom right is a plastic box. Take the top off of this it splits in two and check out the wires. There is a switch which can burn out and a level. If this is faulty this wont pump the condensation out up into your draw container and the heater will not work.

Thank you. This video has been very helpful. Saved me the cost of a new tumbler dryer.
Thanks Darren - worked perfectly and saved me £300 to replace it.
Great 😊

What if you don't have a electrical tester is there any other way to find out
Unfortunatly not
If OK they will rattle, some thermostats can be reset by pushing a pin in the middle
