- In this video, I will be giving you some tips on how to rent an apartment in France, tips for renting as a foreigner, documents you will need, websites you can use to find apartments, and common scams to watch out for!
I've also included a mini tour of my tiny (16m2) 600€ /month apartment in Nice, France in the French Riviera! The apartment came fully furnished and includes water, cable, internet, and electricity ⚡️
Apartment hunting can be stressful (especially in France!) so I put together this video with some helpful information to know if you are planning on renting here.
* D I S C L A I M E R *
It is very important to always be vigilant and be on the look out for scams, as there are A LOT OF SCAMMERS when it comes to renting in France, more specifically in Paris. DO NOT send any potential landlord any money, personal information (ID/passport/visa) etc before meeting them in person and physically seeing the property. If a potential "landlord" tells you that they are out of town on vacation and that they have already returned to the city many times to show the property, and due to this you have to give them your name, passport/visa info, and personal information to "make an appointment" - don't send them any information. This is a common rental scam here in France.
If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. When in doubt, send me a picture/description of the listing and I'd be happy to look at it and tell you my opinion on if it's safe or not.
Happy apartment hunting! x

Super conseils Tiana. Ton appartement est vraiment cool !
Ok your place is SO CUTE! thats such a good use of space for the size. Love it!!
Thanks Cass! I was definitely surprised that I actually had room for all my stuff haha
Thank you so much for this, planning on moving there next year ❤
Such great info!!!! Thank you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
THANK YOU very helpful information!!!!
Cute apartment!! Very informative
I really love that video idea especially since I’m considering moving to France
Great video.....thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you very much for these tips! I'm going to Nice/Antibes for my internship soon, so I'll definitely make a good use of all these informations!
Yay! You'll love it :)
Good luck girl!! Thanks for sharing!
Tiana, Thank you so much for your videos, they have been extremely helpful. I am super excited to move to Paris for Spring 2024 Study Abroad and then 2024/2025 school year for TAPIF in Nice, Lille or Reims. Keep up your great work! Thank you!!!
Hi Tiana, thank you so much for recording this video. It definitely helped me a lot. I'm going to Nice to study French and I work for an American company. I'll stay at my school for the first 3 months of my stay but I was planning to get an apartment after that, I hope it won't be too hard to find someone that will rent for me!
Thanks for the kind words Barbara, i’m happy to help! Nice is far more relaxed when it comes to renting to foreigners, I had way less of a hassle renting here than I am now trying to rent in Paris.
I forgot to mention this in the video but I recommend joining Facebook groups in the Nice/Côte d’Azur area for renting apartments finding roommates, that’s how I found my current place!
Here are a few of the groups I’m a part of:

@@WhereTianaTravels That's so helpful, thanks again! I hope you find your Paris apartment soon :) Btw, you must hear that all the time, but girl, you are real life princess Tiana!
Oh I would love a video of Disneyland Paris! So jealous girl! 😍
Coming soon!!
I have been in Paris twice but never went to nice. Thanks for helping us, thinking about moving there.
You definitely should, I love Nice so much more than Paris!
It’s a really nice little apartment, but I wish you’d spent a bit more time on the tour, moving the camera more slowly, so there was time to take it all in.
Noted for next time!
Your apartment is cute. But idk if I could climb a ladder every night for bed. Lol. Very informative. I’m looking to move to France in two years but I will refer to this video in the future. Thank you so much
Thank you
Hi Tiana, love your vids 😊. Do you know of any websites I could use to find shorter term rentals in Nice (like 3 to 4 months)? Besides Airbnb? Thank you!
Hi Jenny! For shorter stays I would recommend searching in Facebook groups for people looking to sublease their rooms/apartments 😊 There’s some groups linked in the description!
Hi Tiana thank you so much for your video ! Did you feel the need to ship some stuff like kitchen supplies there ? Thank you !
No not at all, it’s easier and cheaper to just rebuy any other kitchen supplies you need once you get to France
Hey Tiana, thanks so much for all the useful info! So I'm thinking of taking a sabbatical from work and moving down (from London) to the South of France (Probably Nice) the for 3 months. It sounds like it might be a lot of hassle and paperwork to rent an apartment/studio... do you think I should look at other options (cheap airbnb or hotels) as I won't be working while I'm there, I just want to travel and see the French Riviera.
I'm glad I could help! Finding an apartment here is a hassle even for French people and it's gotten worse this year because of the Olympics. So for a 3 month stay I definitely think Airbnb is the best option!
Yeh I think that's the way to go, thanks so much!@@WhereTianaTravels

Your Disney ears! 🤍✨
Hello Tiana, nice video. What are some nice small towns to live in close to Nice?
Hi! Villefranche-sur-Mer is the next town over from Nice and it’s absolutely stunning! There’s also Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, and Saint Laurent du Var which are smaller and more calm. Cannes is stunning as well and smaller than Nice, but a bit on the expensive side. Honestly anywhere in the Côte d’Azur is gorgeous! ☀️
@@WhereTianaTravels Thank u for your quick response. I will make some research right now
Thanks for the video Tiana. Question: Do you prefer living in Nice or in Paris, and why?
Tough question! I prefer Nice for the weather, scenery, and slower pace of living. But Paris for the amount of things to do, diversity, and architecture
Hello Tiana, i really liked your video it was really useful! I´m moving to Nice in one month so i´m looking for an appartment exactly like that one! Could you tell me what app you used to find it? or how does it is called the building? Im a student i have the visale
I'm glad it helped! I found my apartment through a Facebook group, I don't remember the exact name but if you search "Flats and apartments for rent in Nice" and "Chambres a louer à Nice" you'll find some - there's quite a few :)
Hi Tiana, I am a 20 year old american student and I was hoping to stay 3 months in Nice while taking online classes during the summer. Now that I've watched your video it seems like a short-term rental as a foreigner is not feasible. Airbnb is not an option for me as I looked and the cheapest is $1000/month.. and the rooms I've looked at through the french rental sites run from $600-700. My parents are paying and only agreed to pay since they were okay with that price range. I don't have student status or a working visa since I'll be there for under 90 days. Is there any way to still rent through one of those french websites for 3 months?
I'm 16 and wondering what are some available jobs for foreigners like me
I was told to secure an apartment before landing in France. How would that be even possible?
it’s not unless you sign/pay for a place without seeing it which I absolutely do not recommend. You’d have to book an airbnb hotel for at least the first month while you search
Does your rent include utilities? (bills, taxes etc)
Yes!
Omg
Is it 600 including everything ? Or plus bills?
600 including everything
I'm in Nice now. 2 weeks in apart close to train right on jean medicin.love it. Would love here 6 months.studio. anyone u can recommend anyone to show me apts? Visa req? Thx
I'd recommend checking out some Facebook groups for finding an apartment, that's how I found mine! For visa requirements, you'll have to have a valid visa (student, working, etc) or be an EU citizen
Hi, there was not any dishwasher or washing machine?
Nope, I washed my dishes by hand and did my laundry at a laundromat nearby 🙂 Most apartments here don’t have a dishwasher or washing machine inside unless you want to pay extra $
@@WhereTianaTravels Thank you very much for the reply! Do I need a guarantor for this type tyoe of studio even if I am an Erasmus student with a scholarship? Then I would like to ask you if you know if the Rue Herold is situated in a good neighbourhood or not, because I have found an accomodation there but I do not really know the area. Thanks again for your time!
@@Ale-mx6mj I didn’t have a guarantor for this apartment so I used the government guarantor (visale.fr). There are a lot of students in Nice so they’re pretty lenient when it comes to that, I think you’ll be fine! Rue Herold looks to be in a decent area and close to the center, I’m sure it’s great 🙂 To be fair there’s not really any “bad” areas of Nice though, most of it is pretty safe :)
@@WhereTianaTravels thank you very much for your help! Really appreciated!!
Where I stayed last this year, no dish washed. With some Apts you have to buy your own everything ( even the refrigerator lol).
Was it easier to find an apartment in Nice than in Paris?
Yes, it was a lot easier in Nice
