  • This is the 'Purple' version of the Biohome Biorock and it looks awesome under the lights on Adam's marine tank.
Thanks to Adam from the @Angelfish. Angelfish Keeper UA-cam channel / @angelfish . for taking part in the Biorock trials and uploading this video.
The Biorock will be available later in 2023 after we've had a decent period of testing in all sorts of aquariums all over the World - no other manufacturer bothers with actual real world testing......"trust the 'science'??....nope. We would rather trust proper fish keepers who aren't being paid to parrot an agenda....
Nobody taking part in the Biohome Biorock trials is being paid, they're not 'ambassadors' of any brand and they have no agenda to parrot.
Call me old fashioned but whenever I'm researching anything I want to chose a product based on reality, not on fantasy.

I'd love if you made a video on pimping a canister filter for saltwater tanks

The process is the same except the media recommended for marine use in canister filters would be the Biohome Ultimate Marine as opposed to the Biohome Ultimate.

Of course they do this is why i use a marine light even tho i have a freshwater tank Freshwater lights look like crap imho i love that blue or purple tint that marine lights make

I have marine lights on my tropical too but I have the blues turned right down to give a nice natural look as freshwater utilises the warm colour end of the spectrum I.e red white green with very minimal blue only being usually at night. Where marine use the blue and uv side of the spectrum for coral growth my white light only runs around 25-30% where blue is up to 80 but I need to get a light filter as the blue doesn’t transfer well to video.

Have you tested to see if this rock has leached any nasty elements into the water ? If not this could be an intresting option if it holds up over time.

(my other channel) The Biorock is made from exactly the same materials as the other Biohome filter media so we know it leaches nothing harmful into the tank or filter. All the ingredients are inert and the media / rock is not there to condition the water, just to provide the perfect surface area for bacteria to colonize.
      Hope that makes sense.

      @@HogwartsBasement Dear Harry,
Maybe you have misinterpreted the information in the Biohome videos you've been commenting negatively on.
The Biohome media has added trace elements which are fused into the structure and is not there to condition the water. Therefore it can be (and is) used in a wide variety of different tank conditions from the lowest pH of an Altum Angel tank to the highly mineralized conditions of a marine or Malawi tank.
The structure of Biohome is inert and is there simply to provide a home for bacteria which find it to be a natural site for colonization (which it is).
Any trace elements which are fused into the structure of the media are used as catalysts (not used up / released). They are not simply additives but they are an integral part of the media.
      Hope that makes sense.
      Regards,
      Richard

Yeah, first came the disco lights than the disco rocks then the disco fish (painted glass perches) This tells me nothing but nature. I think there are some glow-in-the-dark fishes (sorry I forgot the names but used for feeders) & plastic plants too. Show the thunderstorm effect! I mean it is natural! I wonder what life plans would survive in your setup then maybe show us a breading pair of discus or some other fishes. not livebearers though. Oh, this is for saltwater? OK, the same for the live rocks and other anemones. " by the moonlight shadows" Mike Oldfield Maggie Riley 80s' music. Good luck and do updates too like 3-6 months' time then the maintenance on the disco rocks and the disco castle! 🤣

I think it is too dense to be effective as reef rock. Nor does it
    have any buffering capability.

The appropriate amount of coral sand will buffer the water and mineralise it to the suitable level.
With regard to the porosity - you have some Biorock?
If not, how do you know how porous it is?
This video from Fathom Aquatics is excellent and goes into detail about the internal structure. It also has a practical demonstration showing the great porosity of the Biorock: ua-cam.com/video/2cq57E9okIo/v-deo.html
      Hope that helps.

This rock is nowhere near as dense as lava rock as it has way more tunnels going all the way through I’d say it weighs about half the amount too and is doesn’t need to have any buffering abilities as both the coral gravel and the salt it’s self keep my ph at 8.4 compared to the other reef synthetic rocks I’ve used this has the potential to be by far the best

@@pondguru I’m well impressed with it so far looks amazing tank’s almost cycled (ammonia/nitrite) so fish should be within the next week or so and I’m surprised but I’ve had the light pretty much running 24/7 and I’ve had no cyano or any other nuisance algae which I’ve had in the past when setting up a marine tank with the lights running so not sure if it’s the minerals in the rock that have prevented this or what

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru  Рік тому

@@Angelfishkeeper98 That's nice and quick so hopefully the full cycle will complete in good time. It's strange that there hasn't been any algae / cyano problem in the new tank but that's great feedback an very promising.
