    Thank you soooo much for this video. I purchased the same exact range a couple of months ago and I’ve been struggling to keep it clean. The pointers you gave are amazing. I didn’t realize that the burners could be disconnected. Thank you again.

    I have had mine 4 years and didn't know I could take out the burner !! I clean around everything with my vacuum and the tiny computer tools I have hooked to it. Works great to get out all the crumbs below that don't fall into the pull out tray under the burners. I also oil lightly all my burners with peanut oil on a paper towel after washing to prevent any rust. Thank you for a great video.

    you're not supposed to get igniter, wire and contacts wet. you can unscrew them if you want to wash the burner assembly but the manual says basically to just leave the burner assembly alone and only if the little holes get clogged then poke them with something metal to unclog them as necessary. it's a bit of a design trade-off where they prioritized performance over ease of cleaning.

    Thanks so much for the tutorial. My Blue Star was in my house when I bought it recently and now I realize how FILTHY the 6 burner grates and ignitors are. I'm considering just replacing all of the ignitors because I think it will be nearly impossible to get the crud off the white tubes. Thanks for the insight!

    Hello, putting aluminum foil on the drip tray can permanently mar the stainless steel. I recommend to my customers to spray the tray with cooking spray (PAM) to make it a non stick surface. You save our natural resources by using less aluminum. Eliot Francis / Applicare Inc.

    I always take a air compressor and just blow mine out. It gets the water out immediately. If there is food or just small particles still trapped in the lines it gets that out also.

      it sure how this stove got so disgusting. i have been cooking on ours for 3 years and my burners don’t look anything like this. it s pretty easy to clean and the crumbs go right down to the tray below. no problems but a few sparkers needed replacement. those are $20 items, that were replaced for free under warranty.

      I went with the platinum for the optional griddle/burner combo. Never use the griddle. It’s very heavy and cumbersome to swap out and takes a lot of valuable storage space in the kitchen. I literally threw mine away. If you want the griddle, choose the built in version. I think I would have totally used the griddle if it wasn’t a separate attachment the way I bought mine. It didn’t look easy to use or clean so I didn’t keep it even though I spent a ton of money for that accessory. Not going to lie, the platinum puts out a ton of heat! My whole kitchen warms up with just one of the hefty burners in use. It’s almost too hot! So don’t decide based on heat output or BTU specs. Definitely settle on the model based on its configuration, knob placement, griddle design, and cleaning features! Don’t forget to get a great hood for above properly spec-ed to match and a few inches wider than the cooktop! I’m so glad I had one designed for mine! Can’t live without it. It helps with propane fumes and proper ignition and heat!! My mother in law forgets to turn it on when she cooks and the house heats up tremendously!

      I use peanut oil as we have it for all our Chinese stir frying. Our burners get really awful and this works well to prevent rust. Also use a vacuum cleaner with tiny computer cleaning tools attached and it makes quick work of crumbs that don't fall into the pullout drip tray.

      @@jennifermulcahy6286 single edge razor and water. Nothing else needed. The blade glides right over the glass and it looks brand new. As for the inside of the oven it is very simple to use a scrubby pad and a small amount of baking soda. You can also pour baking soda on any dried on gunk and then lay a thick towel in the oven bottom over it and pour only enough boiling water onto the towel to soak it....leave till cool and any stuck on stuff will come off with a light wipe.

I do that too! Love the dishwasher for that and pretreating any baked on gunk with that Dawn Powerwash! I don’t scrub at all and don’t give it any thought! Just spray Dawn Powerwash on bad spots and load in my dishwasher. I wait 5-15 minutes before starting the cycle to let the Powerwash sit a bit and do its thing!

    I'm curious to learn how a dishwasher ruins a cast iron burner? Is this something you read or believe in yourself? I've had two Blue Stars before and only used the dishwasher to clean them with no problem, normal wash cycle. I do immediately take the burners out after the cycle is complete and dry them by hand, then turn on each burner to complete the drying. Just curious why this isn't good.

    • @fritz-the-jovial
      @fritz-the-jovial  3 роки тому +3

      I wasn’t sure so I did some research. Enamel coated cast-iron can go in the dishwasher. Raw unfinished or seasoned cast iron shouldn’t go in the dishwasher.
      But your results may vary

    • @robroberton2667
      @robroberton2667 3 роки тому +1

      I’ve cleaned my Bluestar cast iron parts in the dishwasher for years with no corrosion issues. These parts are not “raw” cast iron and do not rust easily.

    • @rdot980
      @rdot980 3 роки тому +2

      For pans: "Cast iron should NEVER go in the dishwasher. It takes a long time to build up a nonstick surface on cast iron and dishwashing detergents will strip it away and leave the pan vulnerable to rust." I'd just treat everything the same and keep them out of the dishwasher.

  • @louisxiiii
    @louisxiiii Рік тому

    I thought the cast iron parts were porcelain coated. Maybe that was a different oven? Really, I wish someone would make an oven like my 1978 Glenwood. The whole thing is porcelain coated steel, with stainless steel trim, and looks almost as good as the day it was made. The burners are lightweight stailess steel dishes with small lightweight welded and procelain-coated steel racks that can be thrown in the dishwasher, and still come out looking pretty good, without taking up the whole dishwasher, and without straining to lift. I had high hopes for Bluestar, as ti's the most old-fashioned oven out there, but it really doesn't cut it.
