    Love this swap, i have been runnjng a jk case for a few years. I was able to get the speedo to work with a tone ring. Theres a video on my channel about it if you care, warning its long and boring lol

    just did a 231 swap on my zj. the 249 was garbage. ive followed the plug build because i have 05 thuper doody axles i bought to swap in eventually. gonna enjoy the stockers while they last. Keep it up. Being a family man it takes a lot of time to get projects done.

    You are definitely going to like this mod. I did the same back 2010 to a 1997 XJ with AW4 auto. I had a 4" Iron Rock long arm kit. I used the T case from a 2004 Rubi. I also had to clarence the bally pan. Other then that was straight forward like you said and the Jeep was one of my daily drivers.

    The 241 is a great tcase for a stock unit. Dont put it in 2wd until you unlock your hubs, that flange will self clearance itself.

      Definitely not true. I rarely unlocked the hubs of my 1 ton LJ and never had a issue

      The vehicles these came out of didn't have locking hubs

    I think it’s great you’re opening up the range to the PD’s and for training purposes. A little income to the Ranch is better than nothing for sure.

    If you don't have front hubs the front driveline spins 100% of the time, definitely clearance that shifter arm.

      Ya I'll have to unlock the hubs. Not sure what others have done when using bigger yokes, but notching that blade may have to be the only option

    Last night I had the thought that how cool would it be to swap one of these in my 97 gmc I’m Super duty swapping I think it would work great for what I plan to do with the truck. cheaper than a doubler or atlas I know it isn’t near as strong but I’m not building a dedicated rock crawler. This video was timed perfectly down the rabbit hole I go.

    For the Front you could use Yukons np241 front yoke, it should be long enough to not hit the shifting linkage and then you would have to get the 1350 piece that bolts onto the flange. Part #YY NV241-1350CV-F I am about to do this same swap in my 04 WJ, looks to be a straight swap except the u joints of course, even the 4wd sensor is the same in an 04 wj. and my NP241 came out of a 2008 JK.

    I checked out the 241or cases but couldnt justify the cost. Especially the tj cases not as many available and 2,500$ I will be trying froelich suspensions np231 doubler kit in my XJ.

      @@MuddyBeards4X4 You could use the doubler kit to put the front end of your old 231 onto the 241J to really crawl!

    You can high Jake your speed sensor at your transmission to get a Speedo working again..

    If you made a spacer plate for on top the tranny mount that should give clearance to not cut the mount and lift the case so it isn't flush or lower than the crossmember?

    Good to know you can use a Jk case. Been looking for a tj 241 for a while but $2,500 is hard to pull the trigger on.

    Does the transfer case have to be specific to the transmission? Meeting Will this transfer case boat up to an automatic or manual?

    Hi!!! I own a WJ 2000 4.7 quadradrive, recently I got the JK rubicon combo (diffs and transfer), Transfer is MODEL MP241 ratio 4.0, do you know who could sell the main shaft converter to the transmision (original from wj),

    Then use your old 231front end as a McDoubler to really drop your ratio down!

    man those things are pretty hard to find out here for a decent price. most of them have a 1k price tag. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but honestly I'm not really ready to give up the 242, I like the 4 hi unlocked mode. especially with snow, and going up to browns, having the center unlocked is a huge benefit.
    I always put a bit of pipe dope on the yoke splines.
    my biggest problem is with the clocking variation, the front shaft would hit my 3link crossmember on the zj.
    hmu if you guys do a tahuya run this year, they re did some of the rock gardens

      I've only seen one for less than 1600 and it had been cracked and repaired.

    Only the rubicon case for the jk is 4 to 1. The jk sport np241 is the 2.72 to one like the 231

    Little known fact. The output shaft has a slide in out stub. It is possible to change it to different spline count. Chrysler only charges 90$ for out shaft. Takes 30 seconds to change.

    Doesnt the front driveshaft spin in 2wd if you're moving without unlocked hubs?

      Ya going to have to unlock the hubs. I couldn't find anything online about having this issue with bigger yokes. I'm wondering if a different yoke design would work

    Great upgrade and video. I imagine this would work in a 89 YJ? I’ve got a limited slip on front axle Dana 30, wonder if the 2WD clearance issue would be a problem.

    The 4:1 rocktrac will not work with V8 ZJs and WJs, the input shaft is the wrong length.
