Another beautiful piece! My mom was a leftie. She always said that left handed people are the only ones in their right mind. Lol!
She was right 😜😜 Thanks
This bowl looks like flames in a fireplace to me. Lovely work.
Thanks for watching
I can’t ignore the irony of the color red with Apple Wood. It’s a natural combination!
Sure does! Thanks
Naming a rock. Surely Hudson. An icon who had a lot he had to hide. I hope society has grown up and that kind of forced closeting stops. Be who you are inside - you matter.
Agreed, however I’m going with Dwayne. Thanks for watching!
Stunning. I love your comments about how you get wood for your projects. I am relatively new to turning but lucky for me I am already tripping over bowl blank material in the yard. In May of this year we had a tornado rip thru our little town. I was out helping the neighbourhood with my chainsaw and tree climbing skills. In many cases people just gave me the wood for helping them get the sometimes 30 inch diameter black walnut trees off of their roof or car. We have a sawmill at the house so some made it to lumber and other pieces like crotch and burls made it to the bowl blank pile. We have a pressure pot being delivered today so I cannot wait to try it out on a piece like the one you just finished. Keep up the good work. I still plan on dropping by one day to see your shop. cheers
Storm wood has been a good source for me too, just be wary of ring delimitation. Thanks for watching
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your videos. Here I have been looking for solid pieces of wood and missing the fact that smaller pieces can be combined to accomplish incredible work. Thank you, Jim, for all you do. You are not only an inspiration, you are an amazing instructor. R'Amen!
Thank you very much!
I forgot there is a lot of apple, cherry, peach, plum, apricot, and pear in the valley
😎👍👍👍👍👍
Now your talking, lol. Thanks for watching
The rock should be named Bruce, a good solid name, willing to work in the messy mud to get a good job done! :)
Thank you very much!
Wow, this is another gorgeous bowl. The pearl red is so delicious looking. Putting it with the apple pieces, then turning this. A dynamic duo. I never thought turning wood with cut off branches, that so many would use in smoking meat. I absolutely love, love this bowl. You walk us through everything. I learned to make stained glass years ago. That is cool. This is amazing. Thank you again for sharing this artistry.
Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!
Love this piece, and as a person who has really no knowledge about wood turning, I appreciate the commentary and your insights and thoughts as you work on it. I also loved that you included in the failures and unexpected challenges you met along the way.
Thank you very much!
Wood Turning was my favorite subject in shop class. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at it again..
Thanks for watching
It's like looking at a fire - like the holiday fireplace channel xD
Lol, thanks for watching
Absolutely beautiful! The end of the branch inside that’s spalted looks like gold leafing in direct lighting! Nice piece!🥰💖
Thanks 😊
Log and bush collection goes into a city chipper, the mulch is free but no logs.
WOW, that pearl red is just the perfect color, showing the perfect amount of wood!! That was scary, jumping almost off the lathe! Such a beautiful bowl, completely happy with it’s balance! You always get those perfect finishes! Great work!
Thanks for watching Joe!
I said "wow" for a bowl 2 videos ago... but I feel I need more wows after this one.
Lol, thanks!
Honestly, at the end, the light shining through that made it flame!
Thanks for watching
Love the flare, grain, epoxy and spacing of this piece. Yet another gem.
Thanks for the lesson Jim
My pleasure! Thanks for watching
BEAUTIFUL! The red really highlights the grain in the wood!
Thanks 😊
I feel like 60 tabs of LSD and a walk around a gallery of your work would be so dope.
I just might join you, hahaha 😵💫😵💫😵💫 thanks
Surely the rock needs to be called Dwayne 😄love your beautiful creations
That’s what I went with. Thanks
I know this bowl didn't go as planned, but this was a definitely a success. And that red color is just incredible!
Thanks for watching
I love how this bowl looks like a candy apple from the pearl red 💖 if you haven't done anything with the off-cuts that might be a neat project with the tumbler Ben sent
I used them in the 70K bowl. Thanks for watching!
Haha I said it looks like a candy apple too!
I’d call your rock “the turtle.” Lovely piece 💖
Thanks
That is a gorgeous bowl. Pieces like this make me want to quit trucking and learn woodworking instead.
Personally, I'd call the rock, Rocky Balboulder. 🤣
Lol, thanks!
This piece is just stunningly beautiful!
Thanks for watching
Ohh, that pearl red with the apple is just stunning! Really love the patterns both from the pour and the woodgrain, and the shapes they make together. Another gorgeous project, Jim! Love your content.
Thanks for watching!
I have two apple trees that have been in my yard since my parents planted them in the 60's. They are in bad shape and I will be taking them down to make something for my kids who grew up eating the apples off these trees.
This post was an inspiration, as have a few others as to what I'll do with the trees, especially the smaller limbs.. I've also got a few neat cracks that I think will be awesome filled with gold inside dark blue hypershift epoxy.
Thanks, Jim.
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
@@SpragueWoodturning I'll send you pics of my "journey". I can see light through a knot in the trunk of one of the trees, and that was what caught my eye with this turn. I'm trying to find ways to use less epoxy by using "fillers". Maybe even PVC pipe and fittings.
This is going to be one of my retirement hobbies. If I'm good at it a part time business. Thank you for the educational and inspiring videos.
Best of luck! Thanks for watching!
You are taking it to another level. Beautiful work
Thank you very much!
You make my Friday’s special with your entertaining and beautiful videos. Who knew sticks could be turned into such an amazing bowl. This is definitely one of your best.
Thanks 😊
Beautiful bowl! When I type in (beautiful) my IPad automatically brings up (bowl) as the next possible word choice.😂 I’m pretty sure.. that’s entirely because of your channel! I’m going to have to start commenting.. ‘Gorgeous round hollow object’ just so I’m not sooo predictable!😆 Great job Jim!
Lol, thanks!
I love how your big rock looks like a glazed spiral cut ham! 😆😆
Yummmm, lol. Thanks
Another beautiful bowl. Love the shape 😊
Thanks 😊
absolutely stunning... I love the contrast of the red against the apple branches...
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful piece. The spalting in the limbs made the project. Look forward to the next.
Thanks for watching!
Wow, that is beautiful! The Waterlox really brought out the pearl red. I think you should name the rock: Rocky McRockface.
Now that a mouth fill, lol. Thanks for watching
Absolutely beautiful piece, would look amazing in apple green too. Love from the UK 🇬🇧
Thanks
Cool idea
Amazing piece, Jim. Kind of makes me think of wandering through a cave filled with stalactites and stalagmites and an eerie red glow in the background which you're hoping is just a mad scientist and not a huge pool of lava ready to explode.
Love your imagination, lol. Thanks for watching!
You captured the WOW factor in this piece.
Thanks for watching
Another fabulous resin bowl, Jim. I think I would name the rock - Hudson.
It’s in the running. Thanks for watching!
The names I came up with are guardian, heavy boy, tough, caveman, foot crusher , toe bender, and rock'n roll.
I hope you saved the pieces for a future project.
It turned out fantastic! Beautiful bowl, it will grace which ever table or shelf it sits on.
I did save the pieces and thanks for the suggestion!
Wow beautiful piece. Brought me back to my youth, my grandfather had an orchard so I started turning apple. I used a treatment for green wood that worked great and have since forgotten the name any help out there would be appreciated. Thanks again Jim.
I would like to know it too, apple can be very hard to work with. Thanks
@@SpragueWoodturning hey Jim, I was searching my shop and found the name of that green wood treatment, it's called Pentacryl. It worked great for me, either treating before or after turning
Charlie would be a great name for the rock!
Absolutely fantastic piece
Thanks!
It looks like it's on fire. Stunning.
Thank you very much!
It should be named Lobster....it isn't a rock its a rock lobster. :)
A B52’s fan I see, lol. That makes the list too, thanks
You could name your rock Harry! Beautiful project!
Thanks 😊
Looks like my burn pile is getting smaller and smaller, all those little tree branches have been trimmed and burned are gonna have to be saved because you have gave me a new idea. Thanks again for your wonderful work
Your welcome, haha. Thanks for watching
Got to say it again Jim … what a beauty!
Thanks!
Love the bowl. Thumb down! You must be kidding. I can't imagine anyone doing that. It is interesting to see way the resin spools off for you at first and then after you give it another day to harden. Great fun watching this come together.
Thank you very much
A very nice apple, that color and that wood were born for each other dude!!!
Thanks!
That is a very beautiful bowl. With the heat wave in the UK, Nick Zemetti puts ice packs in his pressure pot to alleviate thermal cracking.
I doubt the effectiveness of this, but I tend to be skeptic. Thanks for watching
Wonderful example of dedication to a craft. The branches that didn't get covered should have been used as a base.
I still have them. Thanks for watching
I don’t know what else to say Jim except wow, amazing as always
Thanks for watching
I always look forward to your videos a true Artisan.
Thank you very much!
I think you’ve outdone yourself with this one!!!! I love the horizontal lines! And that color is perfect!!!
As for the rock, I think you should name it Lennox, after the number one Canadian “heavyweight” champion Lennox Lewis. 🙂
That’s a good one too. Thanks for watching!
The dent in the foot makes it perfect. Mother Nature has to put her two cents in there.
Totally! Thank you very much!
Beautiful work, again. It reminds me of a fire pit or campfire.
Totally, thanks!
If it was a lampshade it would rival Tiffaney! Beautiful as always!
Thanks 😊
Every time I see a video I think it's the coolest. Very beautiful piece.
Thanks 😊
One of my favorites..... Love the colors and wood choice.... Dudley Do'Rock.... LOL
Lol, thanks
Since it's "the weight", you could call your rock The Band!
Thanks for the suggestion.
Lefties rule! It's a beautiful piece.
We sure do 😜😜, thanks!
I love when use red. The wood just pops. Have a good day.
Thanks 😊
Awesome bowel Jim !!! That gives you a lot of different ways to go in the future. Just Beautiful !!!
Thanks for watching
🥰 love this bowl. Your rock should be called Igor. It's a fantastic assistant
Lol, thanks 😊
Jim that was a very pretty bowl well no it a beautiful bowl any one would love having setting in their house as a decorative show piece
Thanks!
That is a beautiful rock; looks like a Tiger's head in texture and pattern. Wow. I like this beautiful piece of art you made. Thank you for sharing. I liked your video.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome bowl!! We have 300 apple trees so this is definitely a project we will be doing.
I guess so, lol. Thanks for watching
From the side, it looks like it is all liquid. When lit, it like on fire! Fantastic work!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Ben Noble...these apple branches went into a gorgeous bowl!
Glad you like them! Thanks
Awesome piece. The red pearl is awesome. Stinks you couldn't save the middle of it like you were trying. When it broke I was like darn it. Have a wonderful weekend
Thanks for watching
LOVE, LOVE this piece, it's beautiful! Of course they are 2 of my favorite colors.
Mine too! Thanks
Lots of teaching moments in this video. Loved the end result. 🥰
Thanks for watching
I just found out about this trade from a news feed about burls. Went down the rabbit hole of youtube and found you. Awesome
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching
Another beautidul piece. I also enjoy your commentary on different subjects. Thank you!
Great! Thanks for watching!
Very cool. For some reason reminds me of a camp fire. Good name for your rock....Sylvester the Stone.
Yup, lol. Thanks
That is gorgeous! Man, I would display the hell out of that!
Thanks 😊
Super cool! I'm a salesman with an electrical supply company; I have 3 customer accounts that are hardwood sawmills. They keep me well supplied with local and exotic hardwood cut-offs but the peices aren't very large. It's a win win though because I'll make a sales call and help them with any equipment they need and they'll give me peices of species I've never heard of. I also have a couple arborist friends and I like to climb trees so I'll help them with jobs and get to keep some good sized logs. My wife got me one of those coffee cup inserts but I haven't decided what to do with it yet. I love the epoxy work you do and I've played with some epoxy inlays, pen blanks, and I've make some epoxy/wood duck calls that look great but I haven't spent the money on any deep cast to try something bigger.
Good for you! Wish I had that contact, lol.
Wow! From all of your creations (i watched every single video) this is the one i like the most. Greetings from Switzerland
Thanks for watching
Great work sir, outstanding. Like the red and the limbs. A fine piece of art, stunning.🌿 👍👍👍 😁
Thank you kindly
Never have i seen projects so stunning wish i could purchase one
Thank you very much
Beautiful piece! I'm gonna say the name should be Dwayne 😎
That’s my number one! Thanks
This bowl looked as if it was glowing with its own light during the whole video somehow. Total bummer that you couldn't get that piece of core out but wow is it a stunner! I vote Fernando for the rock 🤣
Lol, thanks 😊
Another great bowl, the red surprised me when it was finished I thought it might too dark . great work Jim.
Thanks for watching
An 🍎 a day keeps the dr away. This is a gorgeous bowl.
Thanks for watching
That is probably my favorite bowl that you've done.
Thanks for watching
Beautiful work. Can't imagine cleaning up afterwards. But the product is well worth it. 😍 🥰 😍
Thanks!
I like the color combination. My son works for a tree removal service so I am able to get a lot of my wood from him.
Awesome! Thanks for watching
That is breathtakingly beautiful!!
Thank you very much!
The apple wood is always nice !👍
Apple is fantastic wood. Thanks!
Really enjoyed this one. You hit that one out of the park...or rink!
Lol, thanks for watching!
Harvester operators are a good source for the most interesting pieces of wood.
I can see that. Thanks for watching
GORGEOUS Looks like A Candy Apple & Wood! Love it! 😍
Thank you! 😊
Aww man! I’m disappointed you couldn’t get 2 pieces out of it, but dang! She’s a beauty!! The shimmery red is so pretty!!!
Thanks for watching
All the strings and confetti saved up in all different colors put in a clear resin would make a interesting powder keeper for a women's make up .
Not a huge fan of the resin shavings forms. Thanks
Gosh that turned out gorgeous! (Pun intended 😂) you and Designer Epoxy are a great combination!
Oh thank you!
Wow! Kinda looks like a flame crown of sorts. Love it!
Thanks for watching
Very, very cool. A beautiful piece again.
Thanks 😊
I would give 5 thumps up my friend, you are verry good woodworker.
Thank you very much!
That bowl is 🔥
Thank you very much!
