Chip Foose pays a visit to the Gas Monkey Garage after hearing that Richard Rawlings is the current owner of his father's old Dia Kosa Pantera. He may be keen to get it back, but first, he will have to tempt Richard with a lucrative trade deal.
From season 4 episode 4.

The best part of this video to me is the fact that Foose's dad still alive to see his son's success and of course see his old car again..
Dude, mister Sam Foose passed away in 2018, this is a old episode...
@@sidekick258that's OK. Sam got to see it again.
@@sidekick258 I;m so glad he got to see it. ❤
I loved seeing Sam on overhaulin' he reminded me of my grandpa who was a car guy too
That’s the only place that car should go. How cool to see it again after 40 years and still looks that good.
No one else would want it. 😅😂🤣
Can I say it look very much like the Alfa Romeo Carabo
@@MojoMan17 More than very much. Absolutely identical to the Alfa Carabo show car except for being topless. Nothing the Foosies do is original. But that thing is killer, because Bertone`.
My grandpa was in the Santa Barbara igniters car club with Sam. My grandma Gail used to baby sit chip! Always heard good things.
Cool
I didn't know that Richard was a member of the Overhaulin' family? I miss that show! From Sydney Australia.
Really 🤔Overhauling was Chip Foose !!!! 👍🏻😂
@@davegavin7914did you not watch this video? Richard and Aaron were on a few episodes.
I really enjoy seeing cars reunited with their previous owners.
Chip goose is a total class act and kudos to Richard for bringing the car back to its rightful home 👍🏻🇺🇸
You could spell his name right
It' actually spelled Chip Moose.
Chirp Goose is my hero too.
@@MartintheTinmanAuto Correct is a cruel mistress......
@@carlstyth8368 that guy should stop asking his goose for s ex via text then
Thanks This The Great Car Channel & Video & The Good Work !
Hello From Finland !
I see where Wiegert borrowed ideas for his Vector, similarities are uncanny.
I came here to say this
I wad just about to say the exact same thing.
Vectors are B.A.
Forse simply copied the Bertone Carabo, Wieger updated it
@@stevenproost5085Yeah, I agree. It looks like a total ripoff of an Alfa Romeo Carabo. The biggest change might be the open top. It even has the scissor doors like the Carabo (which preceded it’s use by the Lambo Countach BTW!).
First thing I thought was the Vector!
Chip always looks like he just got off a 5 day bender lol
Has that work ethic illness.. 😑 can't just sit still..
5 day bender for Foose is finishing one of his designs by the deadline. Never seen him touch alcohol.
@@happydays8171 i didn’t imply he’s a boozer or drug addict. I was comments on his appearance
@@MikefromQueens You would look like that if you put in the hours he works!
Richard meet Richard, how did I miss this episode ❤. Thanks for the upload creator! Chip Foose, Aaron, dad and mom. A sight for happy eyes. Wow all the car Mr. Foose had. Zephyr cool. How can you put a price? 4 of my favorite car people. Even though I never seen Foose dad built a car. Like father like son is all I know! 👌
I watched the program last brought this car back to basics. I want to establish the real truth to this custom built car. Sam and my Dad, (Ray Kinney)were friends for a very long time. Project Design was name of their shop,in Goleta CA. Sam was the office manager. Did his part of the business well,Ray took care of the shop. Sam took credit for the build,in witch he spent very little time working on the project. In fact Ray was the one who had all the time invested in the project, did 95% of all the work.
Richard I'm sorry to bother people with this problem. At this time Ray's wife stepped up,brought attention to the situation, made my dad give up his 50% of the body shop,Ray and Sam's friendship fell apart, dad walked away. Since they both worked in the same industry they both had to be civil with each other, and where until the day they both past away. A great team together fell apart because of one person who had to have the spotlight on himself. Should have been stated in a way due to the fact that the shop (project design) was the best custom body shop in the state of California.
True facts on the part that should have been.
What a crying shame, sorry to hear your dad didn't get his recognition.
i feel like this is the truth in most custom car building shops , a drawing or concept isnt the final product of a build like this
My dad Ray Kinney did not want to be the center of the spot light. He always said that the shop as a whole is what brought the car together. @christ510
Even back when this video was filmed, you can see that Aaron seemed distant, distracted and longing to branch out on his own.
Old man Foose took some serious styling cues from the Lamborghini Lancia Stratos Zero.
I think you mean the Alfa Romeo Carabo, designed by Bertone. Check that car out. Old man Foose made a replicar.
This is a replica of one of the most beautiful Alfa Romeo's ever made, an iconic 70's wedge car 👍😮
This is a not particularly good knockoff of the already famous 4 year old original Gandini Alfa Carabo.
Close your eyes and drift back in time to 1975. Now just imagine seeing that car ripping down the highway. It must’ve seemed like a spaceship to anyone in that era. It still looks cool today, but it had to have been spectacular back then. Good memories for the Foose family. Glad for them.
Was thinking the same thing - its looks kinda futuristic even today but in 70's this could have easily been in some tv series as a protagonist car with special powers.
Even earlier than '75. This is a direct rip off of the 1971-ish Alfa Carabo concept car from Bertone.
@@UberLummox I just looked that up, because I had never heard of that before. That's amazing.
@@TheAnomaly0 Glad to hear you learned about it. Very happy to help. Yes it is amazing!
THERE IS A LS V12 engine avaliable - aussie guys made it ! check it out with 4 turbos !
its a hard sell when you can EASILY make 600-750 wheel horsepower with a junkyard LS..........it would definitely look cool in a long nosed street rod though
I still class Chip Foose as the godfather of custom car restorations.
How’s the FOOSE 1 number plate on the shelf at 3:39
It’s from South Australia, where I live.
Very cool.
I have worked for of them. Chip is a lot nicer to work for then Richard
I’ve never heard anything negative about Chip.
yeah,ok
@@Nick_B_Badthen you've never seen an interview with Boyd Coddington about Chip Foose he had a lot to say that was negative. I'm not saying anything bad about chip but Boyd sure did
This car looks more modern than a Cybertruck. I'm not even joking.
I met chip 20 years ago at the Detroit autorama, cool guy.
Oh man the good old days. Definitely miss seeing Aaron run the Gas Monkey team!
Gotta love it when a plan comes together...
Aaron Kauffman wearing the 64 Galaxie shirt! Love it.
How did I not see this episode
What year was this filmed?
AARon is in the vid how old is this ?
Chip Foose, damn does this guy ever age!
All kidding aside, always great to see him on camera.
That zephyr is beautiful. Love Chip's heart. Chip is obe great guy
LOL first sec I saw the car I was saying to myself... what Pantera? It is a Carabo!
Can both of you guys please get back on TV. We need something worthwhile to watch
car guys showing maximum respect
Foose is a cool cat man!!! God Bless him!!
ugh
You must be an Uber Tesla driver!!! Ugh it’s too bad you have to wait to charge your electric car!! LOL I’ll just drive by you in my gas guzzling truck and enjoy every minute of it!!! Ugh!!!!
Chip is all class , overhauling is my favorite car show
Aaron looked so happy throughout this whole thing.
Many moons ago "kimosabi" ....itchy Ritchy is a clown
Chip is an absolute legend, and that Pantera is beyond beautiful. I really want to believe the back story about Richard finding it, but if you know anything about reality TV, the likelihood of it being 100% true is incredibly low. What an automobile!
That car gives 80's sci-fi vibes.
I'm digging it
I met Sam Foose in Solvang, California in 1977.
I like slick Rick a lot better when Aaron is around...lol
I love his commentary he said whoops 😂
I wish I could design for Foose. He doesn't need anyone, though. He's awesome!
Oh, they could use the help.
Two legendary car builders collaborate!
🤣
Wait, that's Aaron next to Richard. Did he return to the gas monkey garage? Or is this an old video?
Old video! Just up loaded recently.🙋♂️
Chip is great as he understands that convertibles are far better than a hard top car
Rest in peace Sam
Chip Foose is still alive? Amazing
How many times are these clips gonna be regurgitated?
Looks so much like the 1968 Alfa Romeo carabo concept car???
You're close. It's an exact rip off except it's topless.
It looks just like the Alfa Romeo Carabo....!!! Greetings from Portugal...!!!
Yep it's a replicar.
Olá Portugal ✌

That man really is a chip of the old block
Is this an old video or is Aron back?
This videos like six years old
U should go to river Rd and buy the mustangs from Gladstone Auto body in Oregon. U know keep everything the right muscle instead of the wrong
I seem to remember having a matchbox/hot wheels of something very similar as a child.
Very cool custom.
yeah the pink pather cartoon car
@@peterroach7666 Bull$hit. You know nothing.
It was a Matchbox...#75. I have one in front of me. Came in light metallic purple, also pink I believe
I saw him at John Wayne airport the day he flew to Texas for this.
My dogs name was zephyr, he was 18 years old, rip zephyr.
Looks like what would happen if Vector had decided to build a targa/open-top version
glad chip got it !!!!!!!
That Buick was looking good!
I wish I could go BACK to 1975. I'd never come back.
I think "Fish Taco" means something different here
I was recently reunited with my first love…a 1976 AMC Pacer. The thing has more glass than the Sears Tower and could go from 0 to 60 in under a minute. It needed a gas cap though so I visited my mechanic. When I said, “I need a gas cap for my Pacer” he thought for a moment and then replied, “Nah, not a fair trade.”
>>a 1976 AMC Pacer
Today, the Amc Pacer is cool 👍🏼
That Poor Zepher going to Gas Monkey😢😢😢😢😢😢
it becomes obvious where the look of the Vector was modeled after
Mmm…. No. It’s nearly a complete copy of the 1968 Alfa Romeo Carabo other than the open top. I guess that’s cool.
@@osxwrangler Exactly. And it warms my heart to see so many people knowing some automotive history commenting on this stupid video/channel. Well done!
Cool and interesting video..
So dope
If you put the british merlin engine in p51 mustang hot rod then it would sound like an aeroplane like they did in the 40s.
Think of Boyd Coddington when I see Chip
When they said LS motor, I was thinking of a 2000-2005 Lincoln LS. 😂
That is what he said. The Lincoln LS had a 3.9 liter V8
@@brianstill8954 Yes, I had a 2004 for about 10 years. Would have kept it, but parts availability, (lack of), made the decision for me.
How do you dare drive a car that valuable on tires that old?! I’ve had tires under 10 years old come apart let alone from 1975!
It looks like the Alfa Carabo show car
Haha! The reaction to the statement the Mustang is a 4 cylinder is exactly me! It’s a great engine, don’t get me wrong, but in a Mustang…..I don’t feel it. Weight reduced F100 maybe.
That 42 convertible is waaaaay cooler than a pantera
As a car guy Chip Foose is a one name kind of person...Chip or Foose... either one I know who you are talking about.
i would have taken that Ford GT, and said "even steven!"
I really miss those days when Aaron and Richard got along. ☹️
LOVE CHIP 🐐🐐🐐4 SHORE‼️🫡
looks a lot like a vecktor!
Didn't the guy who ordered the Dia Kosa originally wanted to buy the Bertone Carabo, but they didn't wanna sell it so he went to Foose to build him a replica?
From 2014?
When did Aaron Kaufman come back?
this is an old one...the video that is
I wish I had a Pantera!
Especially the one that Dave Kindig did for one of his customers. He stretched it 4 inches and made it look more modern, yet still took nothing away from it being a Pantera.
love the original body design, still stands alone in its beauty
Unlike Richard Rawlings, Chip Foose actually builds his cars. Where as Richard probably hasn’t even changed a tire. Doesn’t take a whole lot to hire good mechanics and slap your name on their work.
Alfa Romeo Carabo 1968. Marcello Gandini for Bertone.
Was that modified from a real DeTomaso Pantera?
If so, what a waste. Awesome radical car build, and they kept it in amazing condition! But I hope the original body got saved, even if in parts!
I think I know where that V-12 went.
How long ago was this episode? Because didn't aaron split from richard and do his own thing years ago...?
That’s what I was wondering too.
crazy to take a 2015 car for a trade😂
What was Aaron doing there ?
Why did old man foosie copy the 1968 Alfa Carabo Bertone concept car note-for-note except topless?
awesomeness!
Chip Foose is awesome
This show was made in 2014. I love Chip's work for the most part. However, he should have never hacked into that Ford GT. He obviously never had any idea what they were going to be selling for in future years. You have to love Richard's lack of couth. Nothing like insulting one of the top designers in the automobile industry / your former meal ticket; regarding his taste in wheels and build of the Zephyr? Did he really suggest that Aaron paint over a Picasso? That's gratitude for you..
Know I can see where the inspiration for the Tesla truck came from.
? FROM WERE? the cybertruck looks like a mismatch of triangles drawn by a 5 yr old
I’d have kept the Pantera but the Zephyr is very nice
Mans had the tesla truck style in 1975 before Elon was 5😂
a lot of people did... have you seen any concept super cars from the 60s-80s? hahaha
The Dia Kosa seemed to be related to a Bricklin.
Other way around if anything.
If you change the wheels on that car you're a Dunce
I would not change a thing on the Zephyr, it's a Foose!
