This is what I love about Europeans and decor in other countries. Americans are so into white, tan, gray right now its so boring...except me that is.
@@brixandblooms Count me in too. I always complain that homes and their furnishings come in the exact same colors as men's slacks. Black, dark gray, light gray, brown, khaki, tan, blech! So boring. I recently heard a woman say she'd love to have a pink kitchen but wants to get married one day, so she knows she can never have anything pink in her home. Well, I'm married. I have a pink kitchen, patterned floor tile, lace curtains, and a blue range. My husband doesn't feel like less of a man because the kitchen is pretty. People in the US are often just afraid of colors. It's the whole "what will people think"? So everybody just conforms to the same dull standard.
That's next level design . Thoughtful, emotive, integrated, holistic, joyous and tasteful. Would love to see the kitchen.

Pierre Sauvage is a delightful designer for home coziness and being surrounded by the objects and colors one loves. I like the color combinations throughout the home. The bamboo red lacquered coffee table is gorgeous. Fun to see the doggies' basket of toys. Love the doggie steps to the bed. Love the doggies.

The paneling in that first room...swoon! As he said, just clean it and you have the perfect backdrop for anything that strikes your fancy. I too am glad to see the large rooms kept intact, and not cut up with mouldings that end in the middle of a wall. He seems to have quite the taste for whimsy. I think we can all use things that make us smile.

This is one of my favorite apartments you have featured. The library, in particular, is incredible. There is an obscure movie from 1984, set in Paris, featuring Karen Allen, entitled “Until September” and this apartment reminds me of the one in that movie.

How lovely to see something this evening from Paris which isn’t in flames or being looted! The impression the news is giving is that all France is consumed in a violent national breakdown. This video restores my faith that French art, design and culture will survive this latest crisis just as they’ve survived the Revolution, Occupation and everything else in the last few hundred years.

I love his use of pattern on pattern on pattern….and I heard loud and clear that the more pattern the better!!! I also noticed he uses colors that don’t match at all and yet, somehow, they look scrumptious when all together!!! And let’s talk about his flower arrangements with those amazing containers….LOVE!!! I love the chandelier by Herve van der Straeten. It has antlers!!!! How unique. His dining room is beautiful. All the colors weld well together with the wall and the rugs and the pots. His purple velvet sofa is beautiful. His blue claw foot bathtub is soo unique. I also fell in love with the library. Every home needs a library. Beautiful.
I’d love to spend a lot more time with this designer. He has created a magnificent space, he’s so attuned to all the design elements used. And his dogs are adorable, a beautiful person. Maybe follow up with him again sometime, would like to see more.

I know it’s all about the decor but I have to exclaim how his puppy dogs are incredibly adorable! I particularly enjoyed seeing you hold the ultra relaxed pup as well as watching them sit on those fabulous windows while supervising the world as it passes by. The architectural details in his home are gorgeous! Loving all the hidden doors too!

J’adore les appartements parisiens! This one is a dream. The panelling room is absolutely stunning. There is an eclectic mix in this wonderful apartment and it works so well. I do not like the blue pelmet (do not know the exact name) around the bed. That is the only thing I would have done differently. And I regret we could not see the important kitchen. Thank you for this lovely visit!

An intelligent, sensitive approach to interiors. Elegant, without feeling hermetically sealed off from the modern world. His approach could easily be adapted to more modest rooms, and budgets. I agree with others here, this could be a lot longer, it's worthy of study.

Another great home! The wood floors are so beautiful too. I love the equanimity of flowers across all socioeconomic circumstances, anyone can afford at least some flowers and they brighten any space bringing cheer and happiness. I also love: 'Okay, in the next shot, I will be holding your dog like a baby. Okay, in the following shot, the dog will be back on the floor.' This happens in homes for me as well, or even with strangers walking pets down the street, or cats roaming neighborhoods. They tend to fly into my arms because I am an animal empath. Sometimes the owners ask me why their dog or cat just had to see me or had to jump into my arms, when normally that animal doesn't do so with other people, like, "What are you?!" I try to explain the energy field around a person who is an animal empath, but sometimes it sounds weird and I just say, "I don't know, I guess your dog/cat just likes me." :) Susanna, both of you really, must be animal empaths.

While it is beautiful, with elegant classic architecture, I don’t believe so since Haussmann buildings are from the mid-19th century and this is a much earlier building.

Many years ago, when Hervé van der Straeten was about 12 years old I bought in an antique shop a gilded bronze statue of a lady reclining on a throne with one foot peaking out of under her skirts. I was told it was of 'la Goulue' one of Toulouse Lautrec's favorite Moulin Rouge dancers. It is by George van der Straeten which I assumed was a grandparent of Hervé but I might be wrong. I love that statue, she sits in my bedroom.
I don't know if they are related but obviously both talented artists. I do know that Hervé's father was an engineer.

I luuuuvvvvv, this is my 2nd best home in the entire series. And you’re still tied with the Castle and the Bunny lady and her generational wealth family home.
But wait, when you get out of the tub you dry your feet on the expensive Prussian rug.
That rug is going to smell like mildew not now, but eventually.
Also friend’s grandparents use to have wall to wall carpet in the bathroom- it was gross.
Perhaps he puts a bath mat over it - I’m sure there is a practical solution!
