This video is SPOILER FREE, but be careful of comments still!! I'm still in the middle of my blind playthrough so it'll be a bit before I respond to anything here, but I'll try to answer further questions in due time!! I hope this has helped, thanks for watching
All of our Stats of the Kingdom videos can be found here (feel free to save the playlist for future vids when they release!)

You put so much time and care into these videos, and it shows!
I love how you're considerate of other people who may be curious about the mechanic but have not yet played the game!
The fact that you've not yet finished the game and still pump out these videos is awesome.
Love to see it, looking forward to whatever you make next!
You should tag the video Spoiler free in the name. Will get more views that way

@@Croton _PLEASE_ use your connections to get us the *Durability UI* mod like it was for BotW... I really miss that thing!
I've been keeping junk swords in my inventory to switch to when I want to activate things, but it's good to learn that that doesn't actually drain durability!
I've always used a torch for those...always keep one because they're super easy to replace. Ultimately you do eventually drain durability by accidentally hitting things you don't mean to.
I suspect items with elemental effects do drain anyway too, since they have limited uses and still throw their element when swung. Edit: Update to this: Forrest Dweller weapons don’t drain! So if Tulin is too hard to aim for Wind puzzles and the like, grab a spear and charge it. As long as you don’t actually hit anything it has unlimited uses
If you hit something that actually takes damage, like wooden parts of your construction, it might actually drain
Something I only recently learned is that you can also activate Zonai objects by *throwing* things at them. Don't wanna risk wasting weapon durability hitting the minecart your fan's attached to, but also don't wanna waste an arrow or bow durability? Throw an apple at it! Or a mushroom! Or a... you get the idea, lol.
Only the zonai parts don't drain your durability. I've broken a lot of weapons activating the fan on the back of a mine cart because it hits both
Can’t WAIT for more Stats of The Kingdom. The Stats of The Wild series is how I found you and your extremely skillful and wholesome content!
We can’t wait ! ⏰
Im looking forward to something like this too
Much appreciated, thank you!! Still playing through the ends of the game and researching things, but I'm sure years of discovery await!!
Tip: gerudo weapons are amazing at creating insane damage weapons, just never let it break fully and take it to a rock octoroc when it's low on durability, theyll fully repair it and give it a new modifier
Pristine Gerudo weapons with molduga jaws attached and the Radiant set bonus is a great combo. It takes a few blood moons to put multiples together, but once you have a good collection, you can keep them all as long as you're careful.
i think i just prefer zora weapons the same buff but it also applies to the base weapon damage and doesnt have the weakened durability, you only have to get wet which is easy and last quite a bit
@@legendarydragon2564 sure but it's much more situational, and I'm not about to throw a chuchu jelly every time I want to kill a single enemy. Plus I just duplicate weapons so durability doesn't really matter
@@_ikako_it’s not situational at all… Literally just use Sidon’s water shield to get wet any time you want
IT’S BACK! WE LOVE YOU CROTON!
Yaaayyy!!!!!
Ugh
@@Cheesesteakfreak Let some enthusiasm into your life, trust me it’s done wonders.
It?
@@justaweeb14688 The series as a whole, sorry for the confusion.
for the gerudo weapons, I think it is worth fusing high damage items bc the damage is doubled. Like, I have a Gerudo claymor from the depths with + 7 damage and I fused a silver lynell horn to it so it does 129 damage. And the way I keep it full durability is only use it when mounting a lynell, since that, much like BotW, wont use any durability. Its also the only time I need to do that much damage at once
It’s worth to mention if you want a lynel killer you should look into a royal guards great sword at low durability with a lynel saber horn it’s great for lynel busting
Oh damn I didn't realise that doesn't use Durability. That's pretty powerful
Rock octoroks repair weapons and change their properties (+damage, durability, or long throw)
Yeah I made my first Back Smacker from a Gerudo weapon with a certain 50 damage club fused to it. But upon realizing that Royal Guard weapons also double at that low durability like someone suggested, I went and hunted a pristine one and moved the Club over. I've got a Broadsword right now, so might hunt a Claymore for that extra like 20 damage after next bloodmoon. Or wait until someone steals enough kills on lynels causing me to gp and break my weapon.
I think Zora weapon is better overall. Higher damage, higher durability you only need to be wet, which is easy using sage, hydrant or chu chu.
Thanks for this. Spoiler free, to the point, and it confirmed and gave numbers to what i was already "feeling" in the game. Appreciate this kinda content!
Would really like to see a video on how fusing things to shields affects their durability. It’s frustrating that the game gives you no info about this and so I never know what’s worth fusing to a shield.
probably 25 like weapons. If a consumable thing like a puffshroom is used, i think (i hope, haven't tested yet) it uses the potential 25 durability points, just that 1 point is added, allowing you to fuse potentially 25 items of that kind before using your shields actual durability. durability loss is probably calculated the same way as in botw, see croton's stats of the wild for that. i'm more interested in getting a deep dive into the extra properties a shield can gain from fuse like the ever popular rocket shield which is just one of the many things the shields can do.
Happy to see this back! I love watching explanations to a bit more obscure properties and stats of games that aren't really explicitly stated, especially botw and totk! Thank you Croton! ❤
I'm excited for the rest of the Stats of the Kingdom series
Also, repairing a weapon at a Rock Octorok repairs the full durability (the base + bonus from fusing) of a weapon.
What?
@@jetho9859 Rock Octoroks in the Eldin Mountains can repair weapons, shields, and bows to full durability sort of like how they used to turn rusty weapons into normal weapons in BOTW.
You basically drop what you want repaired in front of the Octorok and let it suck the weapon in and it will shoot it back at you fully repaired. Not only that, but if it has no modifier, it will give it a white one, and if it has a modifier, it will give it a yellow modifier (better than white modifiers).
The modifiers themselves are random, and if you want a specific one, you can save before having it repaired. After you have it repair something, you will need to defeat it and wait until the next blood moon for that specific Octorok to be useful again.
Outside of the once per Octorok per blood moon, there is one other limitation. You can't directly repair unique weapons like the Champion or Amiibo weapons. However, you can indirectly do so by fusing said weapon to something that can be repaired and then paying an NPC in Tarrey Town 20 rupees to unfuse the weapon.
@@AlbedoAtoned ok so if I hear you correctly, it wouldn't work on the great eagle bow because it was too unique, however I can bypass that if I fuse the bow to a weapon and then let the octorok eat it?
@@chill6455 Yes. As long as the Octorok can normally repair that weapon. Most weapons can be repaired, it's just the champion/amiibo gear that can't be repaired.
The abilities in this game are insane, can't wait to see your stats videos on the others!
Yes
@@HylianLegendoh hey I've watched some of your vids before!
@@just_v3rd4nt Cool! Nice to meet you in the wild!
Props to the editing on this video. Simple looking stuff like the durability meter here is such a time consuming process. But it's so worth it to make the video easier to understand.
So glad you are bringing back this series for TotK! Very useful
Yay, first Stats of the Kingdom episode! Great job, Croton, as always.
Wooo! Stats of the Kingdom begins today! Loved Stats of the wild, so I can’t wait to see what changed and what stayed the same in Tears of the Kingdom.
Bro I absolutely love how spoiler free you made this!! Thank you so much. Finally someone who actually does this properly.
Vwry glad to see this up so soon! These videos were why i subbed to you during BotW, and ive been looking forward to all of your stat videos for totk since launch.
The future is looking bright!
Thank you for the spoiler free videos, love your channel!
love how simply the info was presented here!!
I've been excited for this for a while! Thanks croton
YESS!! I've been waiting for a video about ToTK from you! Glad to see it's a stats video, about Fuse nonetheless! Just when I was curious about it, too!
I said it before, and I'll say it again, if you were giving me lectures, you'd manage to make every subject interesting. I wish I had you as my educator.
Keep up the great work, can't wait to see more ToTK content from you!
We have all been waiting for this exact video, thanks Croton!!
Oh man I love this series, keep up the good work! I’m exited to see more!!!!
Been waiting for you to start this series! Let's gooooo🎉
Thank you so much, Croton! I've always wanted to know how this worked since the ability was first revealed. Also, I can't wait for your future stat videos on TotK.
This video is so helpful and well done! I love your style you could consider doing a depths/sky island only type videos and I'd watch those too!
Technically I believe there’s one way to get insight about the remaining durability of a weapon: if you have another weapon in the same class with the same damage, I *think* sorting will sort them based on durability. I haven’t done in-depth testing though.
This is true, you're right!! It's very helpful when having duplicates, which is why sorting is important
The smiley face in the closed captions at the end of the video really made my day
Thanks for the link to the spreadsheet! I never noticed how close in numbers the Gerudo and Royal Guard weapons are in terms of durability. Aside from the Sage/Champion(?) weapons, I’m quite surprised how durable the Royal weapons are, with the Royal Halberd having a whopping 50 durability. It was my favourite weapon series in BoTW and it looks like it will be my go to non-special-conditions weapons in ToTK too 😂
Finally! I've been waiting for these totk stat videos.
I'd really like a longer video detailing which things from the Stats of the Wild series changed/stayed the same in TotK. It would be very helpful with figuring out things like if armor buffs and food buffs of the same type stack, drop rates of certain items, etc.
Loving your avatar ❤
The fact you use music from spirit tracks instantly makes me subscribe, no questions asked
I was just looking for this explanation! Just in time!
I love that you make your videos on totk spoilers free so thank you for that! ❤
TotK's Croton Class is now in session! You're the best at this man. Great work!
So happy to see this video (and series?!), I've been desperate for videos to be made on Tears of the Kingdom that are as high quality and thorough as Croton's Stats of the Wild series was. I especially remember being surprised at how off my intuition was on the mechanics behind shield durability and cooking.
I can't wait to see the different challenge runs you'll be doing!
Thank you so much! This was literally my biggest question so far!
i was just looking for this fuse durability explaination. your channel is always a good relaible source
Liking because I just started playing yesterday and was wondering this exact question + really appreciate you not mentioning certain weapons for spoilers
Oh I needed this. Looking forward to more quality content from you, hopefully!
You legend. Thank you so much for making this spoiler free.
I was waiting for this video!
Thank you for making this I was really wondering
I honestly suspected something like this was happening the entire game, considering that it's obvious the formerly useless Tree Branches suddenly became viable for the entire early (and maybe even mid) game, but this is still an awesome and informative video. It backed up my suspicions perfectly. Thanks Croton!
Thank you for keeping the video spoiler free :)
So glad to see you starting up this series for ToTK
Yesssss Croton stats! Love it thank you! 😊
YEESSSS I've been waiting for mechanic videos!
Been waiting for this!
I appreciate the spoiler limitation on the possible weapons! Nice video explaining the mechanics!
I knew it was a matter of time before this was due. Thanks for the information, Croton. Can’t wait for the themed runs.
Glad to see your videos again
Great video! Thanks for the info!
I was literally waiting for this video. Knew I could count on you Croton! I really think you should put "spoiler free" in the title, since some people are still trying to avoid any spoilers.
I was waiting for this series to come back! Thank you Croton and I can't wait for the next Stats of the Kingdom video to come!
Well well, the first video is the video I needed the most!
stats are back! totk is so interesting, i’m very excited for more totk vids :)
Great video! First time seeing your channel. Instant subscribe! Cannot wait to watch more!!!
This was the best spoiler-free synopsis I've seen so far. Thank you
This is valuable information. Your stuff is great!
Thanks for the info! And appreciate the spoiler free nature! I'm verrrrryy slowly making my way through the game and still haven't hit the part you're talking about yet. Haha.
The only thing I'm still confused about is why do some fused weapons only break the fused item, but other fused weapons break the whole weapon?
I would have thought this was due to some evenness stat of durability between the two weapons / items... but after seeing this video the only thing I can think of is that Nintendo curated a short list of appropriate conversions.
If the item can replace the blade, the durability is directly replaced. Obviously some base weapons modify durability as stated in their descriptions.
If the item turns a weapon into another "named" weapon, such as a club or an axe, same thing.
I noticed that axes have more durability than sticks but it's not additive as shown in this video.
@@SolDizZo it might be more obvious than I think, actually. I have a hunch that weapons fused to weapons break, but items fused to weapons destroy the whole thing. I'll test this theory later.
Judging from my own experiences and the video, it would appear if you fuse a 'low potential durability' item to a 'high potential durability' item (ex. fuse bone arm onto a rusted sword), the low durability item will break first. Most monster parts (horns, fangs, etc.) do not have their own durability, and so break when the base weapon does afaik. Gibdo bone is a special exemption, since it breaks after 1 hit no matter what.
Fuse a rusted weapon to a stick? Rusted weapon will break first. Other way around? They will both break at the same time.
Bonus Math:
Using the spreadsheet linked in the description, a Rusted Claymore has a Maxlife of 8, and MaxExtraLife of 10. I assume this means the max durability when anything is fused to it is 18 total. A Thick Stick has a Maxlife of 14, and MaxExtraLife is empty so I assume that means 25. So max durability when fused is 39 total.
If you fused the Rusted Claymore (18) to the Thick Stick (39) it would last for 18 hits before the sword would break, leaving the Thick Stick with 14+7 potential durability. You could then fuse another Rusted Claymore (18), which would last for 18 more hits, leaving the Thick Stick with 3 Durability total left.
If you fused the Thick Stick to the Rusted Claymore, after 18 hits they would both break since the Base Weapon broke at that point.
Or if you fused a Thick Stick to another Thick Stick, they would both break after 39 hits.
I haven't played with them much to confirm, but the magic wand/rod/staff don't are unique and dont lose durability when fused with a gem or elemental material. Instead the gem breaks leaving a more or less useless magic wand.
I run around with a fire-like stone and ice-like stone fused to two deferent staffs to melt or produce ice, haven't used them for combat and they haven't broken yet after hundreds of uses, including stabbing the fire-like staff into ice blocks dozens of times (I now suspect that action doesn't consume durability).
@@PoofPoofification hmm
There are maybe 3 categories of assets though.
Objects (rocks, axe heads, spikes, boulders, slabs, etc)
Items (apples, charges, etc)
Weapons (melee, bows, shields).
No reason to count other entities like koroks and activated brightbloom seeds.
Thank you SO much for correctly using the verb "affect" instead of "effect", I really appreciated that ❤
Good to have you back 👍
god i needed these videos, thank you so much
Great info, now I want more! Instant subscription
The graphics made this concept so much easier to understand! Thank you
Thanks! I've been trying to figure this out and haven't found anything that explains more than a basic "how to" 👍
Thx croton. You have the best Zelda content
That's rather interesting thanks for letting us know !
I love the Spirit tracks music... Nostalgia hit hard!
Also, thanks for the explanation!
Thank you for explaining this! I never really understood how fusing would affect a weapons durability, but you explained it so clear that even i could understand it! 😂❤
Yes!!!!!!!!!
I was waiting for this!
Yes finally i can know about the fuse stats thank u!!!!
Love the visualization of the two durability bars, really helps the explanation
Thanks for the info crouton
Croton, at this moment, you have 299k subscribers. I thought I was subbed and I wasn't, so I just subbed. I just want to say congrats.
finally can actually glance at croton's vids possibly wanting to watch it
(i just cant watch a stream, and especially ur streams which r long)
Excited to see the beginning of Stats of the Kingdom!
Thank you for that great explanation
Finally the video i was waiting for
THANK YOU. Super helpful.
Thank you for this 🙏❤
Yesssss! I was so hoping this series would return
You should do a video explaining why the evil spirit armor is able to completely break weopon damage allowing for up to 800 damage per swing (granted a bunch of side requirements must be met like having it specifically be a mulduga jaw with a pristine royal gaurds claymore that's almost broken for its attack bonus from being nearly broken then eating max attack up food) its super insane against silver lynels I recommend looking into how the game makes that possible its interesting.
I cannot wait for this, there's so much stuff in totk where I have no idea what's going on with the stats lol
This was very helpful thanks
Good of you to creit Echocolat for this.
Awesome video. Thanks! Would love to see one about how fused shields interact with shield surfing!
Yes! I love this kind of info!
Croton, this really helped me a ton so I was wondering if you could make something similar to stats of the wild, but for tears of the kingdom. A good name would be stats of the kingdom :p.
I was not expecting a Stats of the Kingdom to drop so soon, but I'm very happy it did! Now I know why I feel like some weapons are much more durable than in BotW, 25 added durability is a lot! Thanks for sharing with us this analysis so early, and spoiler free! :D
it seems fusing a rock with any weapon instantly makes it a decent mining tool
super excited for these stats videos again!! 🎉💖
your Stats of the Wild videos are among my favs to come back to
Triangular flat rocks are an exception - they'll make a sharp weapon for chopping wood instead
I have not tested such rocks against grass but I suspect it might still work on cuttable branch barriers
"we're gonna need a bigger rock"
without spoiling anything I'll just say: there are some very big rucks that you *can* fuse and they are great for mining
@@EvilBookMan The Triangular flat rocks are called stones, and yeah, they are an "axe" type material. Grass and the branch/vine barriers break in 1 hit from any slashing weapon anyway, so using an axe doesn't have any real effect. Also, unlike with trees, attaching a stone to a spear won't let it cut grass or such barriers. Also unlike hammers in rock-breaking, damage plays a much more noticeable part in cutting trees with axes.
But yes, rocks are considered a "hammer" type material , and hammers (and their spear-type sledge counterparts) are good at mining. The "smasher/pounder" material type seems identical in its properties,
Oh man this is perfect, I've been so curious about how this works. I'm ready for the spoilery version now k thx
This is already very good to know for the start. Was already guessing that fuses affected the durability and also figured out that just changing the fused item doesn‘t really protect the weapon, but getting to know the mechanics in some more detail is very helpful for future planning.
This is a juicy video!
Very informative plus no spoilers…. Impressive stuff
The fact totk has only been out for 3 weeks and people are finding bugs, glitches, already beating it is literally insane
