- Remember, I am not a pro. I just really like efficient tools. I made this video to show people how the bazooka works to tape drywall. There is definitely a learning curve, but it is an awesome tool to up our efficiency.

Just wondering where you guys are out of. I have been finishing Sheetrock since I was 15. Dads had his own business for over 30 years. I been running tools for over ten i could give you a couple tips to make it easier on you. You have a good handle on using a bazooka but if you want some tips just comment back. Your mud is a little thick. It needs to be thin to run through tools. Especially when rolling and glazing angles if it looks like pancake batter it’s about right. Also buy a set of angel heads. A 2 -1/2 & a 3 1/2. Glaze them with the small head then use a mud runner with a 3 1/2 and you will have crisp angles. And only other thing is wiping the tape is a lot easier with an 8 inch knife. A worn out limber one will make yalls life a lot easier.
We’re out of southeast Wisconsin. I bought the tools because I was sick of waiting around on the couple subs in the area that finish drywall. I’ve finished a handful of projects since this video and I have a better feel for the tools. I’m sure it’s like anything. The more you use them the better you get. The house turned out really nice when it was painted out. Home owners had not one complaint. On this project I was most worried about getting a good finished product and not the speed. That’ll come in time
at the very least use a flusher
From a fellow bazooka runner, good start a few tips add another 2 sponges and get it more watery also lower the brake on the wheel have it to where it almost spins freely but cannot roll back. Also have your buddy wipe with an 8” knife instead of the knife he is using. YOUR DOING GREAT THOUGH
Doing great apart from everything ☺
@kingheb123 I'm sure if you only run a bazooka for 8 hours a day you get pretty good at it. Unfortunatley for me I have to do all the other aspects of the build as well and when it comes time for drywall I break out he tools. I don't claim to be an expert at running a bazooka. @Nathaniel Salcedo, Next time it is out I will give your tips a try and see how they do! Thank you for the insight!
Good job, I learned a lot!
Hey guys I appreciate you taking the time to do the video. I just did the same thing bought the tools fo a big basement remodel. I live in the Madison area if you are close to this area any chance you would be good with me watching you in person? I am not always comfortable having people watch me work but I thought I would at least ask. Thanks Jim
We’re south of Madison a little ways. We actually should have it out this week on the remodel we have been filming this summer.
@@TheRealBeardedBuilder I would definitely love to spend some time watching. I could certainly pitch in any as well.

Why do you over lap the tape?
Hi Bro!!! I would like To know if u really like the tapetech Carbon taper...I am about To buy a taper but i dont know if i choose the Columbia Predator or this one also tell me about the tapetech mud runner?I apppreciate your Feedback...👊🏻👊🏻
Fernando Soares hey man, I like the carbon fiber bazooka. I’ve only used an aluminum bazooka once. I mostly just bought it because I hadn’t seen a lot of videos on them and wanted to see what it was all about. The mud runner is really handy. I have a 2.5” and 3.5” angle head and it does really well. I also have the outside corner applicator for paper faced outside corners.
The Bearded Builder Great 👌🏻...Just keep doing what u are doing Bro it’s very informative.I really appreciated your attention thanks👊🏻👊🏻.
Fernando Soares positive feedback always makes me feel better about doing these videos!
Your doing good be careful where you set your tube lean it in a corner you don't want it to fall guard them things with your life , you don't want to dent or bend anything . A wet sponge in the end of your tube will help keep dry residue from forming in the tube . They won't work when dirty keep it wet and wrapped or absolutely clean and oiled bazooka oil or w d 40 are your best friend . Good luck you don't learn them overnight
Definitely agree it’s not something learned overnight. I cleaned the crap out of everything when I was finished and oiled it all up with wd40
Take 3 to 4 sponge of water to a new bucket of Mudd the mud has glue in it so basically all you're doing is glue in that tape to the wall.
Drywall Guy I think I only had 2 sponges of water in the bucket. I’ll make sure to give that a shot on the next one! Like I said in the video, I’m not a pro. Still have a lot of learning to do. But the area that I work in is so busy I had to figure out how to finish the drywall on my own because I couldn’t get anyone else through. Definitely a learning curve with the automatic tools.
hope yall don't work that slow all the time.then mud is key wipe flats with 6 or 8.wiper need s pan.that garage should be all taped and screws done before 2 hours.where u located? I enjoy running tools, takes time to learn and 💪u doing well since its ur 1st house
and that garage must pay very good for drywall guy?
We did the whole house and the garage. There are not a lot of reliable drywall guys in the area which is why I didn’t hire one and ended up making the investment in the tools. The tools are tricky but I get a little faster each job. I was also coming off a knee injury and 4 months of rehab on that. Sometimes you guys on UA-cam are ruthless 😂 but it’s all good. The finished product was great. The homeowners love the house. I got new tools. It was a good day lol.
@@TheRealBeardedBuilder I just can fly with them tools but not to good at carpentry, shure u run circles around me with that.i also have stupid knee issues. I have tools and 15 years experience I live in Ga.was thinking of relocation maybe, that why I asked ur area.i also can hang but not as fast as finishing. iv been finishing since I was a child and I'm 36 now
@@hawkeyedrywall8887 I’m sure as I continue projects my speed will increase. I always liked the saying “slow is smooth, smooth is fast” we do a few taping jobs a year. I do mostly large remodels and new construction so I only break out those tools when I have my own work to do. I don’t do any subcontract work for other builders. Just one more thing we do in house.
@@TheRealBeardedBuilder I understand, running them tools is something u have to do full time to perform at peak.u be safe sir! and happy Thanksgiving
I think that is the slowest I have ever seen anyone wipe a tape lol
We’re not drywall guys by trade. Just trying to keep things moving when there’s such a shortage of subs.
"The Bearded Builder"... I see what you did there.
Russ Albright it was time for a change! FFBarry was a great start. But as I am trying to focus this channel on more of my work and less of my life I thought that might work better! Plus I think it’s pretty catchy and easy to tell your friends about!
The mud is way too thick.
How thick do you mix your mud??
Good video!
nicholas mizer thanks! Definitely a challenging one!
The Bearded Builder dude I wouldn’t even know where to begin with the automatic tools lol. I grew up in a drywall finishing family and I can’t run them to save my life! Haha
nicholas mizer I have been finishing by hand for a while in my remodeling. But it was time to make the jump. This was our fastest finish job yet!
Nothing like a bunch of tapers that don't know how to prefill lol👍
I took the time to prefill in the house. Was still learning how the bazooka runs. I did the garage as a favor to the owners. I’m assuming you’re a pro if you’re watching a video on the basics?
@@TheRealBeardedBuilder I was looking at reviews on bazooka's and stumbled on this. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything I just see a ton of people on here that don't prefill and it's a important part of the job
@@drew9764 I agree. I’m not a drywall gut by trade. We’re a general contracting outfit. I have always hand taped and finished. I was finally fortunate enough to buy the tools. I’m a believer that the best way to really understand how something works is to teach it. After I taped the house, which turned out awesome, I felt that I had enough of an understanding to “teach” which is where UA-cam comes in. I figured the garage does not need to be a show piece and because I threw it in as a bonus I didn’t spend a ton of extra time on it. The tape tech is a great machine. I’m glad I bought it. And now that I have a few bigger jobs under my belt with it I don’t mind taping and finishing anymore.
This whole video was a blooper reel
Well glad it was entertaining. Wouldn’t have had a bazooka video if there were reliable drywall guys in the area. Unfortunately I’m not so lucky so I’ll be figuring it out on my own.
