Your color work sweater looks gorgeous on you and personally I think you made the right choice in the amount of contrast you've created. I have read that as a soft autumn, one has low contrast in their personal features, so it's best to choose prints and colors with low contrast in their clothing. Following that thought, it stands to reason that a really high contrast colorwork sweater may be beautiful as a stand alone, but might overwhelm a soft autumn's features, and a low contrast colorwork might be more flattering. I am brand new to colorwork, so I would love to hear what you think about this, as I was really interested in your recent color analysis, and how you're incorporating your new knowledge into your knitting projects. Thanks for your great podcast!!! You're doing a great job!
Oh, thank you for this thoughtful response! Are you also a soft autumn? Im really happy with the sweater and wear it so much, so I think the low contrast does indeed suit me well! Thank you for watching and happy knitting! ❤️
I hold one strand in my right hand and one strand in my left hand when I knit colorwork. “My Fletching” by Jessica McDonald is a simple colorwork sweater that I finished in January. I’m in the US so good luck and happy reading to the winner of the book!
Ah, I tried that method but my right hand wasn’t wanting to cooperate. 😂 but I’m told that’s the right way to start out. Oh, I actually looked at that one before I decided on the Marieke. I’ve had a few of her designs of my radar. I’ll add this one to my list tho! Thanks for bringing it to my attention and for watching!
Those are great tips for colourwork! I’ve never mastered it before but I really really want to make it finally! Especially as I saw kutovakikas new pattern “stitches sweater” 😍😍😍 But I think it might be for more advanced knitters? Either way it’s my goal for this year to knit this beautiful sweater up 😊
Hi from Portugal 👋 I just discovered your channel. I feel you about colourwork but once you get how it works it’s really addictive 😊 I want to knit Goldenfern by Jennifer Steingass 😍 All the best!
Hi! (Can I just say how much I love your user name!! Books and beer are also well loved in our household) It’s so true. There’s definitely a learning curve but it truly is. I’m already itching to start my next stranded colorwork project soon! Oh wow, the Goldfern is stunning. I love the design. It would be so perfect for fall! Thank you for watching and saying hello!
Ive just finished my first colourwork sweater … it’s turned out ok, but I wish I’d seen your video before I started. For next winter, I’d like to make a Celeste sweater from Petite knit in neutral colours… Great podcast! Keep going!
Ah, I think I saw that! The Mila sweater, right? It looks so cool tho. Such a lovely vibe. Ah, the Celeste! Such a classic. I’ve had that on my list for a few months now. We’ll see if I get around to it this year or next! Thank you so much for watching! ❤
Lesley! I picked your name out of a cup, so you’re our winner of the Anna’s lovely colorwork book! I’ll reach out on Instagram to get your shipping address! 🎉🎉🎉 thanks for watching and commenting!
