They know the format sucks ass, but they want to milk the playerbase for as much as possible, so they roll out a half-assed statement to generate any positive PR. If the format wasn't so awful, this announcement would not exist. Don't fall for this

Without the Link-1, Fiendsmith as a whole just doesn't work anymore. If you just ban goddess, now you can't access it generically but it's still playable.
I think there's a line with the magical musketeer link monster as well. Idk man scarecrow got banned before I could complete my super heavy deck, my cores just rotting lol. But this feels different from that

@@Void-rj3sq I mean Link-4 Knightmare Gryphon and Link-5 Big Goddess are also a generic Light Fiends. But I do agree the Link-2 Closed Sky should be banned before hitting Fiendsmiths themselves. If it's still somehow a problem using a Link-4 monster, Fiendsmith would need to be hit in someway, and I'm not sure how effective it would be to ban normal spell instead just killing the Link-1.
konami is only ""communicating"" because everyone was scared of spending money on fiendsmith snake eye only for it to get murdered before the tournament. this is not communication, this is konami trying to get around their own horrible release schedule.

1:00 so I actually ended up getting into a discussion relating to this on a discord server I was on and I brought this up and I’m kinda disappointed I was right. We as the yugioh community really have set the bar SO LOW for Konami, haven’t we? Imagine praising Konami for doing this? This is a company that gave proper communication on the banlist philosophy 1 time OVER A DECADE AGO, then were mocked so hard they never communicated anything about the banlist since. No specific timing on banlist drops, no information on the reason they do and do not hit certain cards. Just pure radio silence. And now we should applaud them for finally saying “hey the way we are going to do THIS banlist is wait and see how INFO affects the format”? Forgive me for not being over the moon they decided to actually communicate with the player base for once.
As an outsider looking in, why didnt you quit over those ten years? Did you really expect it go get better? There's so many other better comp TCG companies to support, just sayin...

why are you still talking about yugioh then. If you want change stop commenting and talking about yugioh, put pressure on the bottom line sales and content creators by not engaging so they can keep asking Konami to do something. As a new Yugioh player I don’t understand how the community complains for decades but still consumes yugioh content. That’s not how you get the change you want. Even if you don’t play by talking about it means you contributing to keeping the game floating. On the topic of other new TCGs it’s the same as normal games, change if you want but player retention is not guaranteed like how several games recently had really high player counts in the tens or hundreds of thousands and 6 months later they have only less than 30% of players left.
People should really concider skipping this format, I don't know why people won't boycot this behavior from konami. Releasing product with meta defining cards right before big event to increase demand just to announce that they are prolonging tier 0 from a few months back is going to get worse and stay for over a month and probably fiendsmith is not going to get weakend so soon.
And then to ban it after people have spent all their money chasing the meta
Got sick of this game, stopped going to locals for a couple months now because of how miserable everything is. Your opponent is on either on Snake Eye, Tenpai, Stun, or some D Shifter archetype. I'm out here trying to chill with Salamangreat, Volcanics, Ashened, or Machina/Symphonic Warrior, maybe Ninjas.
I just graduated and wanted to tryhard for my first regional win this summer. Guess I’m delaying till after august 💀
More like you won't at all because you don't have the mental capacity to figure out the out by playing a deck that straight counters everything because people can't read your cards.

Konami hasn’t made a healthy meta deck since agov, card design has just been awful recently and the tcg’s good ban lists can’t keep up
@@bend4456"good" ban list is a stretch when they dont even want to hit problematic decks and only giving them a slap on the wrist until they want to make new steongest deck then they curb on the old one and spit on it. Heck this format could be so good and diverse, we got tons of cool decks like memento, whitewoods, ice barrier, ritual beast, etc.
The bar is so low that we are praising this as communication

Fiendsmith has a busted, legal link 1 but Prank Kids can't have their cat back to be a functional deck again.
Only hopium i am puffing atm is enjoying playing Mimighoul and playtest different ideas. Every other new archetype in INFO is crazy expensive. I'll pick up the new Drytron cards and wait for a Nova reprint (no way I am paying for the original release).

Not a solid list yet but a few ideas living rent free in my head. Penguins, brining out Guard Dog, Prediction Princess, Spirit of the Fall Wind (which searches flip Mons on normal summom), Master Ham Fusion monster.
Flips are creeping up in power. Not too far away from being busted imo.
Getting actual communication about anything is awesome, but it is not awesome that we are probably only getting this cause people were scared to buy up INFO

I wouldn´t put too much faith in the next banlist.
They specifically mentioned reprints of Diabelstar Black Witch and Promethean Princess in the announcement for Quarter Century Bonanza, so Snake-Eye will probably remain at least very relevant until the end of the year.
I hope I´m wrong, though.

Like Beatrice should be banned since tear, the Caesar is one hell of a Card and Lars i would touch solely for the reason, that the other 2 outperform Lars. Imo i would ban Apo, I:P, Beatrice and Limit or Ban the Drain. Or Ban the Baby Goddess to stop bridging into FS. Would be a TCG Style thing. Cause if you want to hit consistency or making Snek vulnerable to Handtraps, Ban OSS and limit Flamberge, then there would be no reason to Play Witch and wanted and the Followup is somewhat beatable

there's no counter, you play fiendsmith se and pray you win the die roll to counter fiendsmith snake eye. its the same shit with pepe and gouki, no counterplay at all going second.

I hope Yugioh has a choice restriction like how they do in Vanguard. Basically it's just the Limited to 1 banlist in Duel Links so they can hit Goddess mini and Fiendsmith Link 1 without actually hitting those cards.
Something i realized. I use to complain about expensive broken cards and now i dont. The difference, before i was a broke budget player and now i makes money lol having means to have the choice to buy opposed to never having the choice put things in perspective.

I pulled/traded for a lot of the white woods cards at the sneak peak. Im going to wait a couple weeks to finish getting the core after hype dies down a little bit and price gets driven down.

Very good point you make here, and that is that nationals is just another event. And it is only reserved for the best of the best. For the majority of the player base, it's not that important that the banlist comes later other than being fed up with snake eyes already
konami has seemed to of improved their communication lately, which I'm all for. though I'm also highly skeptical of the next banlist shaking things up meaningfully, since I'm of the thought that they want worlds to be a tier 0 or at least a predominantly snake-eyes format. maybe some stuff like the predicted apollousa ban and/or hits to fiendsmith's gameplay options without hitting fiendsmith, like a beatrice ban, plus some other inconsquential shuffling arounds. maybe a small consistency hit to snake-eyes for now, but I'm not gonna be coping on anything that drastically alters or even removes the deck from the upper echelons until at least the banlist after
though also gotta wonder about konami's thought process in naming the new archetype white forest for the tcg. I mean it's technically a correct translation still, but

As much as it sucks we knew that they were never going to murder snake-eyes a week before nats. They were either going to give it a couple consistency hits and call it a day or wait until after the tournament is over. Honestly seems like the lesser of two evils. This might just be the Coper in me but It genuinely seems like they are planning to kill off snake eyes in all 3 formats before worlds, and if they do I’ll honestly be ok with it.

I don't mind Fiendsmith being around so long as the busted stuff that can be done with it isn't around... that mostly being facilitated with Beatrice. Otherwise it's just a very accessible engine that can benefit decks like Yubel, Chimera and Unchained. You take away Beatrice and then The Fiendsmith isn't just a 1 card combo starter for Snake-Eye and at that point it's best utilisation is to get out the lvl 9 Fiendsmith fusion. I think the ban list needs to ban Beatrice, Apollousa, Sanctifire and King Calamity, then limit Snake-Eye Ash, WANTED and I'd personally also like to see a semi-limit to Bonfire. I also think there are quite a few cards that could be brought back to higher numbers from the list too, e.g. Drident, Master Peace, Glow-Up Bulb, Plushfire, Meow-Meow Mu, Simorgh, Electrumite, Zenmaity, Zoodiac Barrage, Dragon Rulers, Dragonic Diagram and Pankratops. From there we see how the format develops.
I mean it’s cool but would only be nice if they do it more often, this feels more like damage control cause of how shit the format will be. Also they super milking it since there’s a lot of events in august they want you to pay right before banlist

Random thought. Does anyone remember when Beatrice actually first came out in the tcg? She immediately got hit too 1 . Then again , That was back when Konami actually cared for the players. I feel like that’s what should be done when info is officially playable. They need to give the damn deck the zoodiac treatment. 🤷
My biggest problem with Blue-Eyes support is if people are tired of its constant incoming support they could have made Spirit Ultimate a monster negate so Spirit can summon Crimson Dragon. Beating around the bush is why they can't dedicate more resources to other anime and manga decks. Perhaps Yugis deck or Heros? They could have skipped to making it good and ban Calamity before release. They screw up so many cards so they can keep making more.

I am less optimistic about this than Mr. Streamer over here. It is something, yes, but it's not enough. We have just been mistreated so long that it feels good to receive the bare minimum.
Instead of banlits and limits, why not focus on making epic decks for all types, speedily and interactive enough to not worry about bans or pots of greed. Interactives [handtraps] may just be the way, tbh

My buddies going to wcqs this year we each bought some info boxes on sneak peak he got 2 boxes and stg he pulled ingraver from each box and a qcr exodia fusion and all i wanted from this set was new tenpai support and my secrets were Ankh, and diabelle synchro🥲 but still in play testing w ingraver that card needs banned come august and erratad immediately like mail in and get it its so stupid to continue to print cards this redundant and easy to splash
