- In this bass lesson I'm sharing an exercise to develop precision and speed with your plucking hand. Although it's a simple exercise, it's not easy to play evenly and in tempo. It takes about 10 mins to practice 2-3 times through.

Wow this excercise really made me realize just how much my index finger dominates my speed which is what I don’t want. I went back to my bass videos and saw that I’m mostly using my index finger for faster lines. Awesome videos and great advice! Cant wait to get started on it:)
Thank you my friend 🙏🙏 Glad it was helpful and thanks for watching!
I have been playing over 40 years now pushing 70 my gigging days for most part are over .I still play every day and I enjoy these type of exercises to keep agile.Good stuff, Subbed.
Thanks Kev! Glad this was helpful 🙏🙏
Very good exercise for the Plucking Hand, works the same way up and down with the Plectrum for more Precision and Speed and Coordination of both Hands.
Glad it was useful! 🙏🙏
Great exercise, my friend! Nice job, my friend!!!
Thanks man! 🙏🙏
Awesome thank you! This is great!! Hey what kind of bass is that?? I’ve seen those a lot lately
Thanks Joanie 🙏🙏 It’s an Elrick NJS4 made by Cort. Upgraded the pickups and pick guard.
Yesterday i bought my very first bass and I'm really excited to get better! Thanks for your work sir. I still struggle with unwanted sound and some buzzing strings
That’s awesome. Keep at it! Make sure your bass is set up correctly. Sometimes that will cause some of what you’re experiencing. A good luthier will be your best friend! All the best to you and I’m glad you found this video helpful! 🙏🙏
@@ajabass I guess the buzzing sound is due to bad left hand technique, it feels like my pinky is not strong enough to press the string
You might need to raise the strings a little with the wrench
OR
Work on your pinky technique, no pain no gain
💪🏾🔥
🙏🙏
Thanks, I'll get on it!
👍👍
Thank you for very helpful video! Still I have a question. In the video you're not raking down when you descend the line. I'm mostly raking when I descend...Which do you think better alternating or raking?
I’m glad it was helpful! 🙏🙏 It’s best to learn and practice both. Alternating has it’s own sound and uses (e.g. playing fast and clean on only 1 or 2 strings, or ascending lines). Raking for quick lines across strings. I’m also a fan of using hammer ons and lift offs. All good tools to practice and have in your arsenal. No right/wrong. It all makes you a well rounded player!
Hello, my right thumb is always on E string. Would it be a problem ?
Hi. No, not a problem at all. If you are able to play the exercise cleanly and precisely, that’s all that really matters!
can we have for 5 strings please?
Hey Dean. Thanks for watching! I’ll do another exercise vid with my 5 string. You can also try starting this one on the B string and extending it to the G string following the same pattern.
@@ajabass you are awesome man! As a beginner these videos are really helpful!
@@deangedega10 thanks man! So glad these are helpful! 🙏🙏
