Just got one of these in black. It's exceptional. I'm a big Stingray fan, and there is something a little magical about the 2EQ that the later models (though still good) don't quite match. It is a really cool feeling to buy a new Music Man that is identical in every respect to what you could get back in the late 1970s.

      Hey man
I had my own 78 with me and compared the three basses before we started filming. Initially I liked Gregor’s and my old Stingrays better as they sounded played in, but the new bass grew on me. In the end all 3 basses are awesome. They range from Bernard Edward’s Chic style rather vintage- ish tones to Rage Against the Machine, they all do what you want them to.

This model can NOT have this kind of problem because:
      1) this series has 4 strings models only, your problem can exist with 5 strings models only
      2) it's a 70 vintage model, your problem existed with the old 5 string Special models.
In general, you can see before buying if you will have that problem looking to the G string on the pics on the websites (if it's too close to the egde)

Just confused by your phrasing. I don’t think anyone else considers these copies. Ernie Ball MM makes the StingRay, not a copy of the StingRay. They didn’t buy licenses. They bought the company. That’s just a point of view of course
